  1. Hi all, Is it an idea to have a list with decent Necrontyr resources outside the normal scope i.e. blogs, vids, etc. ? Recently I came across this: https://www.youtube.com/@IDICBeer. I was wondering if there are other Necrontyr blogs out there. Or YT vids. Personally I like the old school look ^^ he goes for, they were my first army back then at the end of 2nd edition. And likely will be my last. This is one of my (more general) 40K sites as well: https://fightingtigersofveda.com/ Anyway: is there more to share? Please link! Best regards, JaM
  2. What would be nice as an addition to this series: a picture of said model, and maybe some pictures of models painted by members/fraters/... (put in the Necron equivalent). That being said: I dont have one.
  3. Nice... And even though I wouldnt want to start a new army, both the Mechanicus and GSC have attracted me. Why I've never thought of combining them myself I dont know, but I think I need to pick up a box of some of those. I can always use them as alternative cultists in my CSM army. I mean, why not. edit: Looked up the voice over. Nice! Perfect voice for this. Fits.
  4. OK, box of 5 it is then! :-) Thanks!
  5. I dont have or play kill team (yet..?), but it seems like a nice excuse to paint up some minis. And, even though I got rid of all my marines, I really like the look of the heavy intercessors. So I might as well buy and paint them, I guess..? Local game shop has some minis on sale, there might be a sniper-intercessor (or however they are called) box for sale. Viable? Or stick with the heavies and perhaps build a small force from there? Will a box of heavy intercessors give me enough "points" to qualify as a kill-team? I could really use the advise! Cheers, JaM
  6. Yeah, I expected a Nuln-oil wash but this also works Keep on it!
  7. They started so well though. I really liked the small boxes where you get rules, models, a "playground" (paper mat) and a terrain piece. Super well thought out. So true.
  8. My take: I've played 3th, 4th and 5th. Possibly 6th, cant remember. Probably not a whole lot . I've stepped back into the game with one of those fancy boxes, halfway/end at 8th. Played some games with my (now) 12 year old son. Then came 9. Rules are clear and super simple, in those boxes. That's the whole idea, I get that. It's the gateway-drug. He had settled for Nurgle, I brought back my old Necrons and dabbled a bit with my new and old Spacemarines. So far so good. Then, however, came layer up on layer of new, special rules. This was an exception of that with the exception of... whatever. I may be (too?) old but I really had a hard time remembering the rules. Instead of a nice, flowing game I found myself looking up rules way too often. It started to feel like a layer cake. And if I want that I just watch the movie. So, basically, to save myself and my son's sanity () we just went back to the simple "kill each other off the table" games and houseruled stuff up. What do I want from 10th? Just a good, decent set of rules. I want a book with rules, examples, basic stuff. After that I want a codex with lore, painted models, background and stats for their models. And perhaps a few "special" powers. Not too much, but just enough to make that army special. I dont want exceptions on exceptions. Or extra layers/rules halfway through an edition. If I plonk my army on the table in the local shop, and my opponent does the same, I'd like to be able to flip through their codex, see some stats and see their specials. When I play a game I'd like to win through tactics, cunning plans or sheer luck. Not because I have so many special rules and exceptions that arent in the main book that I've basically baffled my opponent and therefore win the game. I am not a game designer but I think this shouldnt be too hard to pull off. It might make people actually come back to the hobby and perhaps pick up another army. Not because of the newest, latest, bestest rules or something but because the basic rules are clear, playable and fair. Just my 0.02€ Cheers.
  9. Yes! Thanks Tallarn Exactly what I was looking for. As for the bases: most CSMarines are already on a 32 mm base, IIRC termies should go on a 40 mm. So I will do that, and see what base size the rest should get. GW themselves are probably the best source (I'll look up what their normal models are on and adjust accordingly). Thanks!
  10. Hail Fraters, I've recently dug out my old CSM and I'd like to field them again. I dont play competitive but still want a list that can do some "stuff". Most of the time though I play gainst my sons' Death Guard. Those are not really optimized (no terminators or PBC for instance) but we just want to have a decent game while we kill each other. I have the following models: Old chaos lord (that metal dude with the powerfist in the air) Fabius Bile + retinue (old as well as new) Deamon prince (metal!) wings + sword 20-30 CSM (ok, legionairres) with various equipment. Some heavy bolters/chaincannons, etc. Have enough left over models to make some (10?) possesed. 2 dreads with scourge (also metal :-) ) Predator with lascannons all the way (3rd edition I think) 30+ terminators (metal! If you sense a theme now, you might be right) with varous equipment a Tzeentch csm, usable as sorcerer or whatever wizard is the most useful. No cultists at the moment altough I might use a bloodbowlteam (3rd edition)/old WHFB minis as substitute cultists. If needed. I'd like to have a blob of terminators and use a dread. Or 2. And perhaps the DP. I'd probably need the cultists then or I run into a troopshortage (or use too much points). And Bile. I'd really like to use Bile. 1000-1250-1500? points, 50 PL or perhaps 60. Our normal gaming table is the kitchentable, it's slightly smaller than normal. But that's the way it is, and the reason we play smaller games. Also, big games cost a LOT of time. Espescially if you're not a regular gamer and still have to look up rules. Paint scheme at the moment is pink/purple with gold trim. So it looks like EC but I dont have any sonic weapons, however I'd gladly take the Slaanesh mark. Any takers?
  11. Today in the hobby I.... Realized I need more old metal terminators and a dread. So I made an offer in the local Craigslist equivalent. Anyone has a spare metal Abaddon somewhere?
  12. Very nice! Small request: please post the original source of the model
  13. Thanks for running this, RL got indeed in the way. All good now :-) I didnt put everything far and away luckily, so there is still a chance that I might actually finish those models this year. And it seems I need to try to understand the "new" rules, might post some questions in the future. But that's for later. Thanks again! Sorry for not completing that last vow.
  14. I like the models, apart from the scrubber. Looks like those washing up bristles/heads on wich you can add batteries and a small motor to get them moving around the table. And that model has 3 of them.
  15. New vow: 10 warriors (6 PL) 1 skorpekh lord (7 PL) 3 skorpekh destroyers (6 PL) 1 plasmacyte (1 PL) Hope to get thme done before the 22nd :-) All that remains after this is 6 more destroyers, a hexmark and The Deciever Itself. Probably wont vow them because time contraints but if all is painted I am (finally) DONE! At least with the 'Crons. All that remains then is some Nurgle stuff of myself and my son. Mostly mine though :-D We've already painted his. Oh, wait... I have a fledgling Chaos Army with a Bile or 2/3 that needs paint. Ah well. That can wait until 10th or 11th edition... Cheers
