Sometimes i wonder if the inner circle and the knowledge of the fallen...nevermind the survival of luther...are examples of cross universe quotations and truths. Why is it that every time i start reading discussions like this one, im drawn back to star wars and hear some crusty old chaplain lecturing a chapter/company master saying: "many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view".... Somehow, with the layers on layers of secrets and knowledge within dark angels history, this particular quote seems highly...appropriate.. Or again, maybe im just some crazy old wizard... Ed. hmm. Now im laughing that over the years, this is post 666 for me. How bizzare.

You know, if not careful with our comments and retorts, this discussion could devolve into an argument of canon and perception in wh40k. As odd a place for said discussion as da fluff can be, due to contridicting material over time, perhaps the da background illustrates how....flexible...the "all is canon" concept is? ....or maybe im thinking too much again.... Perhaps one of the more amusing things from the dark angels fluff is how readilly fan (read internet forum/personal opinions not based on published material) ends up shaping so many opinions. This is often where the idea that the loyalist da are actually the traitors comes from. Nevermind the heresy that the lion didnt go to the defense of terra because he thought horus was right...

wow. nicely put together there! now excuse me while i sit back and ponder stealing some of that bitz bashing for myself....

frankly im far more amused by the interpretations of members described in the bits so far placed here. some i think are pretty close, others seem a little off (i snarl and demand obedience? wonder where that came from?), but could be situational. I dont think giving a script/profile for the personas incorporated here would benefit the primary authors...but thats just me... besides. this whole bit is (i hope) a light hearted attempt at some fun, describing some of the members/frequenters to this section of the forum in various (un)likely situations....i should hope its not intended as a serious reflection of us and our activities or thought processes....

Not all of us can trade Spine Flails to the AdMech for shiny toys, though. I take care of typos the Codex-Approved way - with a chainaxe to the face. :P And Reyner, I wouldn't worry. A Typo in a room full of veteran Liberites has the same life expectancy as a daemon asking a room full of Custodes 'Which way to the Emperor?' But what if it starts to mutate and clone us?! BURN EVERYTHING ARGH  well thats simple. if that happens we break out the shotguns and blast everything in sight. see...shotguns wont penetrate hull armor or destroy anything too vital....and in mass quantities it is rather hard to dodge....
-
....how sad is it that these typos have me twitching and wanting to go into full edit mode? does that mean i have done that too much around here? ;) then again...i keep getting more and more amused by this whole depiction as it grows. deffinately keep this up folks!

Why not ?? I never tried to play there, just knew it's there. But if I shouldn't bother trying to play there I'd like to know why. Well one reason I could think of for the woodbridge store is the unfortunate change in location. its a smaller store now, much tighter fit and the tables are all crammed together. I also know of a few people who dont like the idea of 'renting' time on the tables that are available. Im sure there are other reasons an individual would not want to play at any location...

Oh I dont think I said I find it funny. I think I said I am more amused by this than the original. Quite two different meanings there. As to why I am more amused, well look at how long I have (and continue) to lurk around these forums. For years here, we have all seen all manner of IA concepts...both good and bad. Sometimes these get comments, sometimes they dont. Sometimes people get utterly slaughtered by board members (deservedly or no), and other times we members take time to review what is put before us and offer suggestions or modifications that we feel would assist the original author and make his work better overall...or at least make it fit a little better into the 40k universe and styling. Not all articles end up getting comments...not all comments end up being useful. I, for one, like to think that my comments fit more in the style you (DAT) present in this little short; and thus I find this more amusing. What happens when someone submits something obviously contrary to the current status quo at these forums? Well 1) someone comments on the color scheme...often ignoring the content of the IA. 2) Someone will invariably read it, not like it, and decide it is not worth taking time to post a comment on the article. 3) Someone will read it, like it (or not) and post just that...with not a word of commentary or thoughts (even concerns), despite the general idea being to help eachother improve what we are generating as ideas here (at least this is important in my mind...not all ideas are complete at the first go). 4) Someone will absolutely hate what is written, say so in a few words, and others will jump in on this...though they may alternatively ignore the OP as the (4) here said enough to cover their thoughts. Generally, there is also the 5) which is the person (people) who will take the time to read the post and try making suggestions for improvement...some may even take this to the point of assistance with grammar and structure. This is how I see/have seen the general flow over my time around these forums. Is it bad? Not really...this is part of the fun, and I am as guilty of ignoring posts I have read as much as any others. Now then. I found myself amused (again amused, not finding the bit funny, two different things here) in looking at the description youve included here as it seems to fit more with things I (and others I tend to watch for) have attempted in guiding new IAs, or adjusting my own IA (and the random few who have, for some reason, specifically asked me to look theirs over). It really comes down to a simple (yet viciously complex) balance equation...the author's liking of the IA he is writing (it is his chapter afterall) - vs - the chapter's ability to stand within the construct of the 40k universe and its acceptability to other readers. Again, as this is for fun and none of us are paid to edit fan-generated material, it is quite understandable that not all IA's will get the same degree of attention...it is also understandable that many articles will show and will not receive any sort of reply (useful or otherwise). I, for one, highly encourage/ask for/hope for members who read an article and decide it is worth their time to make a response to take the time to help the OP, if at all possible. It is then up to the OP to accept the comments or not. We (in my mind) can only offer guidance and our different views of what the 40k universe is and what an IA should be/contain... If that explanation makes any sense at all (I am barely awake and have too much blood in my caffene stream at the moment), then I hope you understand my amusement more clearly.

personally I almost find myself more amused by this response than by the original piece....but then, lurking in the background and offering additional information tends to be more my style anyway...
-
hmm...yes, this story is worth keeping. it may even be worth expanding (though i am not so sure there...). you gave me a hell of a laugh addressing the female marines bit. somehow i dont think that randomness will ever die... despite such heresy, im sure there is a smoother way to address the insanity? as it stands the bluntness is effective...but rather jarring after reading the rest of the short youve given us. just my two cents...just ignore it if you want ;) by the by...Octy cant be batman, batman would never name himself batman... though octavulg did steal my towel once.... ....suddenly i think octavulg is actually the ravenous bug-bladder beast of traal....

this may sound weird coming from me...but I really have no suggestions on this draft. i can only point out that you do have a couple pretty complicated sentances here...which suggests there may be some grammar issues, but none lept out and kicked me around. I really like the amount of and attention to detail you have here; more to the point, i like that you actually tell the story of your chapter and develop it enough to give an idea as to the character of the marines and the planet they call home. I also like that though you have White Scars as the primogenator chaper, there is not much of the WS flavoring in your chapter....it is nice to see a couple hints at the lineage in the combat doctrine. At this point I would not suggest adding any more to what you have, but refining the idea and reviewing what youve written certainly wont hurt you at all. Nicely done.
