I had read somewhere that the original chapter badge was red. I may make the command squad and the vets with red chapter badges. According to this pic, it seems you're right about the red chapter badge... ;) http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2153/dadeath20ig1.jpg TheDef' Actually, if one goes by the current version of the Heresy, as detailed in 'Index Astartes', the DAs are black, with white badges and gunmetal bolters - the temptation is to use RT Marines as pre-Heresy Marines, when in actual fact they're just a phased-out earlier version of 'contemporary' Marines. My rule is this: if in doubt, go with Index Astartes, since it tallies with the current miniature range (for instance, you can't say that the old-style Land Speeders were pre-Heresy models, since Land Speeders weren't used pre-Heresy! Have you ever seen a Chaos Speeder?). As for those minis, they're about as spot-on as pre-H Marines can get - a mix of armour variants right up to the current ones, but generally plainer (not so many purity seals and religious iconography), with no Codex Astartes markings (hadn't been written yet!), and some details that predate the look of the Chaos Marines. SeerBrun Posted April 4, 2007 Share Posted April 4, 2007 Those are really nice. I especially love seeing (well done) studs on power-armor. My only real beef is with the bolters. I guess calling it a beef is overstating it, but they are such a modern designs compared with the pre-heresy work I've seen, which is mostly oldschool stuff... like the dark angels pictured above... but the art of 40k has departed so far from their roots that marines don't even look human anymore... like voodoo dolls with 2x4s for weapons.
