Took me quite some time to find a way to get this game running, but finally found something that does it. So here it is for all of you, might es well work for Final Liberation:

Uninstall

Re-install but ensure destination directory is eight characters or less. I used (c:\chaos)

Set Desktop resolution to 640x480, 16 Bit colour

Via Start/Run use gpedit.msc to enable "run in seperate memory space" check box to run dialog box. Located under User Configuration, Administrative templates, Start menu and Taskbar

Then goto Start/Run and type "command.com /c C:\chaos\WH40K.exe" without the quotation.

The game will now load and no longer crashes

Do not use the compatibility tool, always use the command line option. Even though the compatibility tool enables the ability to load the game through windows it will crash very early in to the game.

It wasnt me who figured it out, but was very hard to find...hope it helps a bit

I find the easiest way to get CG working full stop is through Virtual Machine. Although it's fair to say Virtial Machine isn't the easiest thing to get working to someone non-tech savy, having 95 or 98 running solves more or less all the issues I've experience with CG when trying to get it to work on XP. Pretty much any machine capable of running XP should be able to run a VM with 98 on, if its just to play GC. Last time I played, my save files became corupt. I don't know if this is a common occurence, but I'd say it's best to back them up all the same.
