Spent a lot of money over the past few months and I want to show you the progress I've made: Stormhammer http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/3/6/783979_sm-WIP%20Stormhammer%20Front.JPG As with all vehicle builds, there has been a lot of different processes to get to this undercoated stage. I planned on having fancy tracks with Imperial Eagles or skulls covering them, but in the end, I went with some Blood and Skulls ones instead. I'm not sure whether Space Marines are allowed to use Stormhammer, but I loved the look of the kit and needed to have one to go with my Legion. With their close ties to the Mechanicum, I'm sure one would be made available to my legion. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the turret that came with the kit and the fuel tank. A mk III Space Marine Tank Commander will be added in the future. This has now been added to my (very large) "to be airbrushed flames on" box! I think GW should have made these fuel tanks rather than the one's on the plastic baneblade kits. The cannon is a bit wonky as it's not been stuck on, to ease with painting. It wasn't a bad kit to put together. I have so many vehicles on the go at the moment that I have only got this to the base colours. I need to put a black pin oil wash on the vehicle and then a small amount of weathering. The front doors are hinged and I am contemplating adding some hazard stripes around door entrance to stop the Terminators from banging their heads!!!! The canopy was a pain to paint as the rest of the flames were airbrushed but I had to do the canopy by hand and it was difficult to match the colours. I plan on adding some Storm Raven engines to hang under the Valkyrie wings to make this aircraft a very fast beast. Unfortunately, I forgot to airbrush orange and yellow to complete the flames on the third door so it will be added to the list when I break out the airbrush again. It's a great kit with chunky bits of resin. The construction was fairly quick and simple. I went with Heavy Bolter sponsons for a) the points cost and b) this is a dakka tank and Heavy Bolters fire more bullets than lascannons! I go through building splurges followed by months of painting. I batch paint vehicles so although it takes a long time to get to the end, a lot of vehicles get completed at the same time. This is a beautiful model and I highly recommend it to anyone. I wanted to go with hazard stripes on this tank and painted everything separately. Unfortunately, there are 2 extra pieces joining the hazard stripe shield to the top of the tank but I couldn't get them to fit after everything was painted so I opted to leave them off. Having laid down the base colours of black, silver and airbrushing the flames, I laid a quick layer of matt varnish over them. The Sicaran is worth getting as its a great kit and looks great as well. Managed to finish a couple of vehicles recently.... This really has been a labour of love making this. I've made some minor conversions (like the Imperial Eagles on each tread) but kept my usual embelishments of skulls etc off this one. Once finished, I'll need to break out the masking tape and starting airbrush prep for the multiple vehicles I have undercoated (including a Stormhammer, Shadowsword, Spartan, multiple Rhinos, a Leman Russ, a Storm Talon, A Sky Talon and 3 Dark Talons). I want to get all of these painted during the summer months and then over autumn/winter I'll be building my Warhound, Falchion and Typhon. Any questions, please feel free to ask. I have a lot of FW troops to paint but I prefer the satisfaction of completing vehicles. I would love to have more dead troops covering all the different marks of armour but that is for the future. When the Deathwatch was created a few years ago, I created a 10 man squad using the metal parts that were available then. With the new plastic Deathwatch releases, I finally had the time, money and ability to create a Deathwatch Army. I work on the rule of cool - I don't build to game, just for the love of converting, modelling and painting. Some of my models have illegal weapon load outs e.g. bolt pistols, but I can't see how the most ELITE Space Marines can not carry side arms!!. Whenever I see a useful Space Marine part on ebay or bitz sites I get it as you never know when you will need to use it! It's time consuming BUT when I finish, I have a lot finished at the same time. In case anyone is interested here's my painting order: 1) Black spray base coat. 2) Paint all areas I want to paint red with a white undercoat. Then paint the areas red. 3) Paint the areas I want silver with a black undercoat. Then paint the areas silver. 4) Paint all the gold bits. 5) Paint all the brown bits. 6) Use Nuln oil on all the red, brown, gold and silver areas. 7) Paint all the red, silver and gold over spills with black. 8) Edge highlight all the brown and black parts. 9) Paint chapter badge. Is the Sky Talon capable of transporting Predators, Rhinos, Vindicators- vehicles with three hull points or less? (The Space Marines have to get them from orbiting warships onto a planet's surface, if they want to use those vehicles, after all.) Deathwatch Chaplain Cassius Deathwatch Mantis Warriors This chapter badge was sculpted out of milliput. Deathwatch Iron Snakes Veteran This Chapter Badge was made from a small amount of milliput. Deathwatch Aurora Veteran I converted a Sternguard shoulder pad with a small amount of milliput to make this badge. Deathwatch Black Consuls Veteran This is a slightly converted Raptor shoulder pad. I’ve since added a heavy bolter backpack to finish this. Deathwatch Celebrants Veteran This Chapter Badge was made from a mould of the star I made for the Herald of Ultramar and some converted Dark Angel icons. Deathwatch Iron Champions Veteran This Chapter Badge was made from a converted crux terminatus icon. Deathwatch Imperial Stars I used the Heralds of Ultramar star mould to make this Chapter Badge.
