Musk's never ending CSM army

I gussied up one of my old conversions. Under fifth edition and the latest Chaos Codex I'll be using Isaacous the Devout as a Nurgle Sorceror on Bike. He started life as an Icon Bearer on Bike back when that was an Independant Character, ie 2nd Edition.

Here is a picture post tiny lines but pre-gore:

Apparently 600 pixels is too big. I'll have to go with 500 next time. Anyway here is the model with some Lonewolf style gore:

This model has to close to point blank range in order to use his spells. This often means his life is very short, but he can be tough for say guardsmen to kill. You can find how well he does versus loyalists as I'll be using him in my next two games against Barret.

He looks pretty good...for target practice! ;)

On my part, Project Horrible Surprise is proceeding exactly according to my plans... Bwahaha.

Also, I sat down and counted up my Iron Hands, and I can meet or exceed 3000 points under the current Codex and hopefully under the coming one, too.

Workin' on some additions to Barrett's favourite squad. I converted them up years ago, for the last codex, I really don't have a normal plan. I build stuff, I paint it, I try it out, often years pass during this three step process. Paints dry out, models go out of print, I forget stuff, now I write things down.

This recipe is Vallejo green-grey then Vallejo goblin green, then new GW wash, then Vallejo grey-green. I bought the green greys years ago to try out, I think one Plaguebearer might use them...

I finally finished these three additions to Jaundice squad. I put way too much work into models I didn't even really need to paint, well maybe I needed one of them. I gotta spend less time on each model, especially rank and file model and I have to buzz through my backlog to get to some new more appropriate stuff for 5th Edition and the latest Chaos Codex.

These models especially the icon bearer have some unique blends/washes and color combos. I used some Vellejo colors but mostly GW paints some really old, some really new. I used inks, washes, and for the first time weathering poweders, Doc O'Brien's if you're curious.

I know you love Syphilis... <_< But I also remember the first time I fielded this squad in years it totally blindsided you and almost single handidly won the game. This is Jaundice which besides having yellow eyes is the squad with the most special weapons, they now have a missile launcher too, they are being positioned as the infiltrating/flank marching chosen squad under the current rules.

They aren't the best looking, but they can be an unpleasent surprise.

I guess we know you're not dead. You never wrote your half of the battle report and in December if you want we could play. I've bought some more bitz to show you, but all I've added to the Diseased Sons since we last played is these three guys. Though I did paint some greenskins...

Yah with his icon...

The skin was done with GW greys with a thin wash of the old old GW Waaargh green ink. I might have mixed in a little blue witht he grey can't quite remember now. I like evil blue skin for my plaguebearers.

So I've been doing a little painting. I don't like painting so many models at once, but I want them off my table so I can paint something new. I assembled and primed them years ago, so I don't even remember where the pieces are from but obviously: Nurgle Havocs, Chaos Space Marines, Loyalists, OOP Renegades, Bezerkers, Havocs mostly. Most of these guys are Syphillis and the rest are for Scarlet Fevers. I actually have to paint three more purple guys and probably yet another Aspiring Champion for Astro Vancouver.

I've used slightly different colors, including some grey highlights. I used thinned old GW wash, not the new wash. I'm up to the metallics, but they are taking time. I started these models while drunk. Now I have some skin condition, so painting is even more challenging due to my hands being so damn itchy.

I'm tired of painting Purple guys. Green guys are more fun, even brown is more fun than purple. I fight a battle to not end up pink or whatever...

I'm going to be repainting Cancerous the Extremely Naughty, the original purple model in my army soon. Might even have him lead my Astro Vancouver army for old times sake. He'll have a paler purple like Malefactor.

I don't know, the exact mix of the wash is always up to chance in a way. It is black base coat then liche purple then imperial purple mixed with liche purple, then tentical pink mixed with liche purple then fortress grey. I think I did two washes, one after the partially pink coat and another after the grey. I also did some more grey and some more washes in places to get the dark to light more right.

It was more work than usual, but I wanted to try using grey in addition to or instead of pink. They won't match perfectly, but lots of my army doesn't match perfectly, it is frickin' Nurgle.

I painted some more tonight, soon I'll be onto some of the smaller details and that'll make the models more interesting, though the odd mixture of bitz makes them pretty unique already. I'm looking forward to assembling some new CSM. I don't even know how many I have unassembled, but I need to paint 12 bolter dudes...

I made some progress on this batch of Purple guys. I still need to finish off the skulls and other small bits. The blue skin isn't quite done either. I should have them done by the end of tonight plus for the first time in a long time I plan to assemble some new models. I still have a few things primed on my desk, but I need to get 25 models done or so for Astronomi-con Vancouver. Here is a 1000 pixel progress shot. Closeups hopefully tomorrow morning.

Here they are, finished as promised. They don't count for the Call of Chaos, but technically the six of them could be a chosen squad of Nurgle. Not an optimal squad but a not bad looking one. ;-)

I'll try to get some closeups in the daylight hours.

Hey Muskie.

I've been following your project for a little while now. I didn't clue in until you mentioned West-Coast Mayhem. We're in the same area. Perhaps one day if you're in the Metrotown GW I'll crush you with my Orks!

;)

Also, kick-ass paint jobs.

Been painting black, quickly and not necessarily well. Four different ways in fact. I still need some more paint. I think a medium purple, but I might go back to using Fire Dragon Crimsom.

These are test models but also are kinda for Call of Chaos 3 and Astronomicon Vancouver...
