But as they say,practice makes perfect!!!....and i envy you guys that can do it well!!When mixing said GS i found when moulding bits that even tho it was soft when in use when nearin completion of being made a hard lump would appear in the GS!!! ....any suggestions....and i was mixing it well!Anyway here are the pics.......C&C always welcome. Something about the powerfist arm just doesn't seem right to me though, it appears to be a very awkward positioning of the arm, but I'm not entirely sure. It could just be me. Props on the staff and front tabard, both look excellent :tu: and about the greenstuff, I found the tubed version on battlewagon bits, they've got the gf9 as mentioned, and they have the straight from the manufacturer. They both cost the same, not sure about the amount though... The really nice thing though is that you get the same product, except a lot more for the price and a lot less lumps than if you had bought it from gw. Tsuro Posted March 23, 2008 Share Posted March 23, 2008 I use the ribbon GS as well, and I have to cut the 'middle' section away (where the blue meets the yellow) before I combine the two, so the cured stuff isn't mixed in. ...didn't know it came in tubes though - I've got a tonne of the other stuff. re: the power weapon. I'd lose it in favour of a pistol; I think you want the staff to be the focal point, and theres a risk of the model looking unbalanced if the fist is left on. My only real critique would be to make sure you always keep the GS and your fingers moist with either water, or KY. Yes, KY. It's water soluable and doens't leave a oily residue like vaseline. I only say this because I can see some fingerprints in the GS. Another way to help avoid this is to let the GS cure for about 20 minutes or so after mixing. It makes it a little more firm and can hold a shape easier. It also attracts less fingerprints that way. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Combat_Vet Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 Your GS is much much better than my first attempts. It looks really good so far. I use both the ribbon from games workshop and the tubes. I find the ribbon from GW is much better at small things and detail work and the tube stuff is better for large projects. But, that just be me not getting the portions right. These are the original minis I done years ago,all I have done is whip off the standard Marine helmet and replace with these awesome helmets from Puppets of war...and tidied the paint up a bit. zxyogi Posted December 11, 2012 Author Share Posted December 11, 2012 Daemon...the bronze on the shield?....Start off with a dark Bronze/Gold and go lighter with lots of dry brushing and washes,to get a sort of mottle effect I tend to do lines and dots with thick paint so it is raised a bit so that I can dry brush over the raised bits. Hope that helps! Update with Squad Theseus...nearly done,bit of tidying to do and the Chapter symbol to add. This is the start of Squad Cadmus... And this is Assault Squad Crius,again nearly finished but.....not quite!
