Purple has always been a hard color for me to pull off I have to layer so much. Even then I still feel like the stuff I do isnt right, but you seem to pull it off. Looks like they are the Red Scorpion Kits from Forgeworld that can be found here . The painted model looks great, and the converted stuff is coming out very nicely. Capt. Kenaz Posted April 13, 2008 Share Posted April 13, 2008 WOW!!! I'm reading Fulgim the HH novel at the moment and let me say your are doing the project at hand justice. The use of the Chapter Master model is a great conversion idea, and the MK IV marines look awesome too.... All of the swords look great, love the idea of long curved blades. How big of an army are you building? Keep up the wing iconography as it suits the pre-heresy EC's best, and draws them all together as a co-hesive unit. GS long hair is also a nice touch. I mean...woooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... .....always always always wanted to do a pre-heresy EC force, man they are good brother. The colour is spot on, deep wine purple. DaemonPrinceDargor Posted May 26, 2008 Author Share Posted May 26, 2008 The purple on the armour is done thus: 1)A couple of thined coats of Hormagaunt puple on all armour areas,except for the recesses. 2)1 part hormagaunt purple/2 parts Warlock puple/1 part water all over the previous layer. 3)Add white to the previous mix for first stage highlights. 4)Add more white for second stage highlights. Always keep your paint thin with water to get a smooth finish. For the cape i added a part of mordian blue to stage 2 and built up through white for the highlights.A glaze of purple ink was used to blend the highlights. Thanks for all your replies guys!
