The DIY Swap marines

Whoop, whoop!

My guy is basecoated black. :ph34r:

I'll spare you guys the photo until I get some color on him.

<whispers to self> baby steps...

@Iacton: Very nice red. I too thought the SB was plastic until you said NMM. Good job!

the red is very rich, and contrasts the white and grey. not a bad thing, I was just noticing

It's cool, I just wasn't sure quite what you meant :)

Right my Castigator attempt is now finished. He was great fun to play with - even if the Icon was probably one of the hardest that I have done. I am well pleased with the red, but my NMM on the storm bolter has pleased me even more.

Thanks for the positives guys and I'll be keeping an eye on things as they progress. I hope the Commissar Molotov likes the finished model and that I have got something like his vision of the Castigators realised.

Pics in the Hall of Honour thread.

Cheers :P

AAARGH!!! Everyone is getting ahead and I'm nowhere! :wacko: After some discussion with a friend we've agreed the scheme I picked is wrong so I'm going for an easy combo of red and black.

Can't wait to see the model Honda :woot:

I made a good bit of progress over the weekend, I just have some inking of the metals on the body and finishing the crozius before it's onto the termie honors, chapter pad, backpack skulls, helmet and purity seals.

Good bit of progress tonight. I just have to finish up the crozius head and some details on it and the left shoulder pads with the chapter color and insignia before moving on to base him. Got some quick photos up for it too but they are a little darker than I wanted. I'll do better for the final :P

@Vaaish

I am really liking how the helmet turned out. Not that the rest of the figure isn't very cool looking, but that helm conversion has really grabbed me. I am always looking for cool looking chaplains and I foresee (holds fingers from his right hand up to his temple) a helmet conversion like this one in my army sometime soon. :rolleyes:

Once again, excellent job!

Thanks! Just noticed I forgot to ink the metals on the backpack.... oops. I'm also thinking that the original "come here" idea I was going for isn't working quite so well since he always seems to look at his hand and not beyond. I might just give him an icon that he can hold in the outstretched hand.

@Vaaish

I don't know if this is feasible at this point, and I'm sorry it didn't occur to me earlier, but I think the only thing you have to do to the hand is reposition the thumb.

If you perform the same action with your own hand, you'll notice that the thumb actually lays down a bit. I think you could either cut this thumb and let it lay down a bit or GS one after cutting the current version off. Either way, it's a pretty minor conversion.

I'm just trying to preserve your pose as I really liked it a lot. An icon would work just as well.

Cheers,

He is almost completed! :D Vaaish's marine is soon to be completely finished as all I need to do now is add the Tactical squad marking and that will be it! All I need now is a camera to take a photo of him with. :huh:

UPDATES!!! be shocked.

Unfortunately it's not the model per se, but the display base thingy. As for the actual guy, I'm considering using running legs as a fall back in case I run out of time, which it looks like might happen -_-

So, on with the pic's -

And my amazing, better than Nalro, should do it for a living MS Paint skills:

The grey squigly stuff on the top is urban rubble :o and the the squigly on the hazards is bare metal. Double ;)

@Honda: you better hope my painting skills are better than that huh :P

PS. Pie to the one who knows what it's made from (the red base thing)

The base is a bottlecap of sorts, isn't it? :o Looks good. Nice work on the base itself.

A slight update by me, date change to Wednesday so I should have pics up by Thursday or later.

@CR

Actually, I really like the display. Did Industrial Light and Magic help you out with the concept model? :)

Question: Are the little rubble bits stone, rail road ballast, or cork? They are very interesting looking.

Now for the model I was advised to make it more compact for boarding actions, hence why the base is like it is:
