Leman Russ

Valhalla

Recommended Posts

Was browsing on wikipedia about the Primarchs and I have a question that I'd like one of the long fangs to answer. It's mentioned on there that Leman Russ' armor was found on an altar in the eye of terror but I'm wonder who knows the story behind how it was found or what it might mean about his whereabouts.

On a different note I saw that there is about 6 Chaos primarchs still active in the eye of terror, I know a certain SM chapter who could take care of that. :o

don't believe everything you read on wikipedia! and to answer your question.. his armour was found and recovered on one of the great hunts. NOT Leman Russ himself! our resident Rune Lords here at the Fang like wolf brother Dark Bjoern and Beef can shed more light into the subject and details about Russ, I'm just being lazy ;)

I have never heard of Russ being found within the Eye of Terror, or anywhere else for that matter. i know that our great hunts have found armor and wargear belonging to Russ, but that all. maybe somebody a bit more versed could be help.

any the 6 chaos primarchs in the Eye are staying in the Eye, so they shouldnt be considered a prominent threat. Abbadon should be the target of a Gret Hunt though. see how long that whiny punk last then.

I'll put my canines on the theory that Russ is leading a 13th company warband.

You know what GW should do? Launch a global campaign about the Imperium launching a offensive into the EoT. The Wolves found Russ and his warband before the disappeared. A datasheet would be made for him just like Angron, Russ is half Wulfen and half Primarch. He can control his Wulfen side he know when to let it out when he is in a desperate situation, he look just like how he was after the Horus Heresy but only a bit more hunched and beast like.

That might actually advance the story like with the Imperium taking worlds on the very edge of the EoT, launching Null-Ships into the EoT and finding the locations of many many worlds.

He would never be as strong as Angron.

Don't get me wrong, Russ is very strong and tough, but Angron is probably THE strongest of all the primarchs after his ascension into Daemonhood (that is still living today). I could see Russ with more feral-like abilities, but he'd never succumb to the curse of the canis helix in my opinion.

The EoT codex does suggest Russ is leading the 13th company, and I'd like to believe he is, and would gladly use some rules for it. :P

I'll concur with this; as a Primarch, Leman Russ would not be vulnerable to the curse of the Canis Helix, a geneseed corruption issue, as he was not created in the same way as Space Marines are. In fact, the problem is that there has been a mutation from his pure genetic material that has replicated over time within the Space Marines.

Russ may be a feral, bloodthirsty demigod of a superhuman, but he is in no danger whatsoever of becoming anything like the Wulfen.

Valerian

Russ armour was found on the World of Runda, at the edge of the EoT, in the Temple of Horus during the second Great Hunt. Other than that we know nothing about the whereabout of Russ.

Thanks Bjoern, that's what I was looking for.

It was also painted pink, with flowers on it.

I'll put my canines on the theory that Russ is leading a 13th company warband.

Leman Russ disappeared 197 years after the end of the Horus Heresy, the 13th company led by Jorin Bloodfang disappeared around the Horus Heresy at the burning of Prospero.. in the lastest novel the 13th company is now led by Buleye, wolf lord of the thirteenth company. The timeline contradicts Russ leading the 13th company, although still in pursuit of the goal Leman Russ set for the. Its only believed Russ leads them, and there are NO proofs to that.

Actually, that timeline wouldn't exactly contradict Leman Russ leading the 13th company, it just proves that he didn't depart with them. He could easily linked up with them somewhere in the Eye of Terror at any time in the past, oh, 9,803 years...

However, despite the fact that the theory isn't an impossibility, it isn't one that I subscribe to. We know what mission the 13th Company has been working on, but Leman Russ' disappearance remains an enigma. I prefer to keep it that way.

Best regards,

I know there is no WRITTERN proof on that Russ leads the 13th but I think it isn't that much of a leap to say that he does, While being a Primarch and Really hard it is iniververtable that on his own surounded by 80.000+ very upset Choas marines he would die. Also do you think that once the 13th got a wiff of him they would find him there is only so much room in the eye. And with him in command wouldn't there raids be really deverstating ? as in counter any big plans that the choas boys are dreaming up

PS wolf honour was a really bad book and doen't count fluff wise

When Russ' armour was found in the Temple of Horus, Bjorn the Fell-Handed, the First Great Wolf, was leading the Chapter at the time. He was voted Great Wolf by the Wolf Lords at the Fang, as he was the last of Russ' Retinue to still be at the Fang. I believe that Russ and his Retinue are still out there somewhere still fighting from His Greatship. Maybe a new Great Hunt will find out more about Russ soon. I would love to find out more, but all the books dating from the RT era are very sketchy on him......

No, Bjorn lead the first Great Hunt. This Great Hunt took many years and they found nothing. Russ armour was found during the second Great Hunt. Bjorn´s rulership as the Great Wolf lasted only for seven years before he was mortally wounded during the Proxima Rebellion. So it´s highly possible that the second Great Hunt was lead by an other Great Wolf.

lets remember that the book your quoting from was during Ragnars time as a Wolf Blade...meaning in the time between this point and the current time period of him as a Wolf Lord, Russ might have infact taken direct command of the elements of the 13th company in the eye. more importantly, Buleye wasnt the leader of the entire 13th company, just the warband Ragnar encountered.

i like to believe Russ is in charge of the 13th Company in the Eye, but have seen little substantial proof of it. The Eye of Terror codex does hint at it though.

that's cool, I'm open minded enough to keep anything a possibility when it comes to Russ, just as long as its written great LOL. MMmm.. although the last place anyone would check is to find Russ at a Holiday Inn :(

I just want to see a glimpse of my Primarch appearing and I'm prepared to take my whole Great Company into the EoT. I'll become a lost one but who cares when I can find my beloved primarch?

Anyway, I think that some of Russ's retinue might've survived during the 10,000 years search for the Tree of Life. What do you blokes think?

It would be great even if they did a tie-in with either the 13th finding Russ' flagship or maybe even one of the Great Companies going on a Great Hunt. The only way to see, is if the Rune Priests cast the runes and it calls the Chapter to a Great Hunt.......time to consult the Rune Priests again.....

That is true on both counts, Wolf89. I just wish they would have a little more stuff on the 13th Great Company. And I know that every Space Wolf out here would love to find out more on the Primarch or what happened to his ship at least.

does anybody but me remember that time is different in they Eye? Russ might have been in there for a half hour for crying out loud for all he knows!

and yes, i do believe Russ and some of his retinue are alivr in the eye.

wolf lord kieran

nay, your not alone in this one wolf brother! a reason why our enemies that hide in the eye are still the very same faces who walked and fought at the Heresy against the Imperium and the Wolves of Russ. And I believe Russ and his retinue are still alive, kicking butts, hacking and slashing away at our enemies and taking names!
