i was reading that the space wolf geneseed is decreed unusable by the high lords for genetic instabilty or curse of the wulfen. but in the ragnar books its the cup of wulfen that starts the curse not the geneseed itself can anyone shed some light on this.

thanks

The Space Wolf geneseed is not unstable (or maybe it is if its what causes the Belchers Gland to make the canines grow) but since there is no large taint of mutation and no signs of heresy, Russ be praised, the geneseed is still usable...only by the Space Wolves though. The most commonly used geneseed to start new chapters is the Ultramarines geenseed.

Actually it is the Canis Helix which causes the curse of the Wulfen to come out, although you must remember that it is the individual who has the will to control the wolf spirit inside him and keep it from controlling him....the Cup is just the way it is introduced to the aspirant.

I may be wrong though.....

there is a chance SSW genseed is used to to make a new chapter, just by not introducing the Belchers Gland and using a different initiation process that takes away the chance to turn wulfen and no one would know SW genseed is used, as far as i know no SW ever turned in to a full wulfen outside the 13th in the eye, suere some bare the mark of the wulfen but there is a difference.

I would say yes since when the aspirants drank from the cup and there were no gene-seed implanted in them yet, it just make them stronger and more sensitive. When the aspirants were dropped, they will either control Wulfen or give into it. Actually, I wouldn't call them Wulfen because aspirant-Wulfen aren't implanted with the gene-seeds unlike marine-Wulfen. More like Werewolves.

Without the Cup of the Wulfen, a Space Wolves-successor wouldn't be a Space Wolves-successor at all. IMO anyway.
