Game 1 of a RTT.

My army list (1500 points) 2 packs for 15 blood claws with 3 powerfists each, 1 WGPL with LC's and 1 WGPL with thunderhammer. 1 Runepriest in Termie armor. 1 grey hnter squad with plasma gun. 1 WGBL with termie armor, LC and AC with 4 WG's in Termie armor, LC's, 2 AC and 2 combiplas. 1 Speeder with melta. OBEL scouts kitted out.

First opponent, Space Wolves. Army is similar in 2 BC's and 1 GH, but he took bikers and 2 longfang squads with ML.

I let him go first. He moves close to me, runs. He moves his LF's to get better lanes.

My turn, I move closer, do some shooting with AC's, kill a few bikers. I go to put Stormcaller on a unit, and 6 and 5 show up.

He proceeds to assault 1 of my BC squads with his 2 BC squads and his WGBL on bike. Wipes them out, but I kill the WGBL. Shoots down my landspeeder.

My turn I charge the remaining BC's with BC's, Runepriest, WGBL and termies and grey hunters. Scouts come on, shoot 3 long fangs up.

At the end of the combat I kill 14 BC's. He killed 13 BC,s 1 packleader, all 4 Wolfguards and the grey hunters.

Next turn his bikers take out my scouts, the rest of my models are killed.

Game 2, vs Nurgle Chaos.

Turn 1 he shoots up 2 of my WG's with a predator. I attack on his left flank, moving my army closer. Double 6's on Stormcaller.

Turn 2 on his right flank he summons daemons. He charges the remaining 3 WG's. I kill a bunch. His predator kills my landspeeder. I charge the rhino that summoned the daemons and destroy it, and move closer to his center. My OBEL scouts show up and kill the pred. WG's and GH's finish off the daemons.

Turn 3 His Oblits come in. He shoots up the BC's who killed the rhino, kills about 8. Same with the squad from the Rhino. But, the BC's break and run. His dameon prince charges my scouts, kills only 2 and I put a wound on him! My turn, my other BC squad charges in, along with WG's and Runepriest. I wipe out the squad and the oblits and consolidate in a line facing the remaining rhino and daemon prince, who finished off the squad.

Turn 4 his nurgle marines shoot up my WG, removing the runic charms. Daemon prince moves closer.

My turn...I move the BC's into the center, in range of theprince and the last nurgle squad. WG's move in as well. Runepriest moves in and casts Stormcaller...with double 6's! He's dead...my plan failed. I wanted the BC's to take the charge from the Daemon Prince as they would go first. I charge my BC's into the Nurgle Marines, lose combat!!! and stay in place. WG's move closer.

Turn 5....his Rhino...yes his Rhino....shoots my 2 remaining WG's, and kills them. 3 wounds, 3 1's. Daemon Prince and Nurgle Marines finish off BC's. All I have left are GH's holding a table quarter and an under half BC squad. I killed 4 of his units, he killed 5 of mine.

Game 3....Too many things happened to really relate what went on, suffice be it to say....I marched across the board and took 2 turns of firing from a 5 man Grey Knight squad, a vindicare assassin, and a chimera and 1guard squad with a lascannon....one BC squad was knocked down to 3 guys...the other charged the Grey Knights and 3 turns later were wiped out. That pretty much sums up the game.

In 9 or so years of playing tournaments, I have never gone 0-3....to NOOBIE players LOL. I've beaten guys who have won Best Generals at GT's....

The tourney was fun, but due to the low turnout, the only award given was Best Overall Winner, with no paint score....seeing as how I had the only painted army it only made sense.

I guess my only reply: you lacked armor. One landspeeder means that any anti-tank weapons on the board will instead be used to break the termie unit wide open. I guess i would have forgone the unit of termies for a pair of tanks, which are now harder to kill under the new rules. otherwise the shooting will specifically target your infantry, which will hurt in the end. But of course, I play a mechanized list, so I may be biased in this regard.

It also sounds like your dice rolls were abysmal. Time to head to the hobby shop and purchace new dice. Save the old ones for morale tests:P I'll be playing in a 1750 GT for 40k radio and have high hopes for my army. See the wolves vs fists post for details on how it's working so far.

I agree, however, I did mis deploy the termies..instead of behind a squad for a 4 up save, they only took their 5 ups.

Iwent with what I had painted for the tourney. But you bring up a good point....multiple threats are the way to go. When I played Blood Angels I'd throw a death company, a rhino squad and an honor guard at a flank, and you'd be surprised at the number of people who shot up the rhino....

LOL!

No seriously: I mean it. Your description of the battle is clear, easy to follow. That, plus the comments from mr OnlyInDeath about the army list were helpfull to me.
