That's a bit of a difference now that I look at it!

As of Sep 21 there are 5 more terminators and a landraider (last page), but they don't fit on the shelf!

Grimdarkilitude: an evolving term and its definition
  • Discriminating taste in bits and kits
  • Conversions kept strictly to theme, not for conversions sake
  • Thoughtful assembly and posing
  • Consistency of tone and quality maintained across entire force
  • Paint scheme/recipe selected to yield good results in light of hobbyist's skill level. Doing what works.
  • Special techniques (such as chipping, weathering, NMM, OSL, freehand, detailed bases etc) applied in support of general theme, not as a focus
  • Background referenced and honoured continually throughout modelling process

Can't claim credit for the yellow recipe, that belongs to Court Jester. The only thing I added to his recipe was laziness.

Check out his Sons of Golgotha if you would like your mind blown, I think he still has a tutorial on here somewhere.

Could do with some good close-up shots, but from what I can see there, they at the least need some squad and chapter markings and such on the shoulder pads, just to break up the yellow a little.

Nice work.

I've found Court Jester's profile, and his tutorial, but it seems the pictures have died a photobucket-related death. Anyhow, for what it's worth:

The +laziness version: the 'peach colour', brown ink in joints, the skull white highlights, the yellow ink, booyah.
For each warrior that dies in the Emperor's name, His eye sheds an infinitesmal tear. These tears are collected in tiny vials the size of an infant's finger, and even these small containers hold hundreds of the tears. The vials are emptied into a chalice emblazoned with gold and frescoes of the glories of Mankind, and only during the bloodiest battles does the chalice run over.

YES! These are great!
"It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press. "It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.

And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag."

Nice paint jobs all around. I really like the Plasma Cannon on the dread. Was that a Forgeworld arm, or scratch-built? If it was scratch-built, how'd you make it? I'd like to borrow that for my dreads.

He scratch-built it out of a Devvie plasma cannon + backpack, and an assault cannon arm. Seemed fairly straightofrward, choppy-choppy, gluey-gluey, but I wasn't there when he actually converted it.

While the yellow is beautiful and the conversions are nice and tight, are you sure these are Fists yet? I dont see enough Chapter markings, but Im guessing your leaving those for later, as with your painting skill your probably freehanding them. As a fellow yellow I feel your pain, but your doing great. Keep up the good work!

I admire your conviction on painting yellow. It's a difficult (at times) color to master, especially on larger models.

If I could make just one suggestion. It's free advice and my feelings won't get hurt if you poo poo my thoughts. On the dread, you might think about taking some watered down brown ink and put them around the rivets. I think it would make them look a little more realistic.

Just a thought. Keep up the great painting.
