An annoyance..

Has anyone noticed that the Dark Angels codex and the newest C:SM codex don't mention much in the way of rules for the Dark Angels and TSons feud wth the Wolves? Is GW slowly phasing the rules out for this?

It's one of those very characterful, kind of silly outdated rules that I can without a doubt say won't be in the next codex. The Lion and the Wolf story is in the DA 'dex, so I imagine some fluff similar to that will be in there, but the blood feud will doubtlessly not be included.

That the old and new C:SM doesn´t mention it isn´t a surprise. They had not much to do with SW, DA and TSons. I´m not sure but iirc our feud with the DA was mentioned only fluffwise in the old C:DA and it is fluffwise mentioned in the new C:DA. But with the release of the new C:DA GW had published a special szenario called "The Lion and the Wolf" to represent our feud with the DA. I had used this szenario two time in the past with great success.

Our Feud with the TSons was not mentioned in the old C:CSM (3rd/4th ED) so it was not mentioned in the new one. I think that´s because of their new concept around renegade warbands and the loose of the old legion-styled armies.

But you have the rules still in our own C:SW.

Space Wolves and Dark Angels after every battle still each select a "champion of sorts" to duke it out in an old fashioned fight (gloves off of course)... don't they? :)

It rarely comes up, a friend of mine is thinking about starting a 1ks army, but he refuses to play competitively due to a tournie last year where his nids got torn apart due to a dumb mission made by the sales reps of GW (the one where basically everyone who went 2nd lost, where you deploy hella close to eachother and there is no assault the first turns... well he played orks with lots and lots of dakka and flamers...). Other than him though I rarely see 1ks.

As for DA's, I rarely see them outside Tournies (ard boyz there was one) but I didn't get to face him sadly as I know I would have owned his stupid strategy (infiltrate bikers with scouts and whatnot and charge my grey slayers... oh please do so... please do so...)

well that mission was hard boyz and it was ment for crazy fun. and actually i was a guard player against chaos. going second and being guard i did fairly well even though i lost and had a shooting army

It's a tournament... leave the fun for friendly matches :)

Nah, I enjoyed the mission because I went first, I had a fire line with my mech wolves like nothing else seen, then not to mention my counter charge saw that my opponent (orks) had almost no numbers left to do anything special in HtH that I couldn't handle.

I still hate how the best players can face each other, beat the crap out of eachother and a normal player faces a crappy player, wins and beats the better players in points. I don't know, the smaller tournaments aren't as good with scoring as they should be.

To reply to the origional topic, today I had a fight with DA, 1k a peace, against nilla marines and tzeentch heavy chaos. It was interesting.

The DA player is pretty new, his second game ever having been at the tourney this previous saturday, so I was helping him navigate his rulebook and making sure he remembered his shinys....

Under command squads it mentions if you take a champion, and there are space wolves present, you must fight a "bloodless duel" with them.

It doesnt mention a darn thing about what the heck a bloodless duel is. But its fairly simple that it must occur.

Good thing he didnt have a command squad.

I understand the annoyance...losing some of the rules that set us Wolves apart from other armies...(not that we don't have a lot of great stuff still). I played in the 'Ard Boyz tournament last weekend against a guy who was running Dark Angels, and we agreed to use the "Rule As Written" from my codex. Made my Blood Claws a lot better in the assualt, that's for sure. Still, I hope the Blood Feud rule makes it into our next 'Dex, because it brings my little heart great joy to send 15 yapping Blood Claws against the Thousand Sons and the Nancy Boys and having them hit on 3+ with 4 attacks each.
