Salamanders 4th Battle Company

Waaaay better than the first marine I ever painted. I was going to say that you forgot to paint their face, but I remember Salamander where retconned into "black" guy. And I mean jet black.

Which is sad, I liked the older Salamanders. An entire chapter of Samuel L. Jackson! :)

Thanks! :) And yes, an army of Samuel L. in power armor is cool as well.

Hopefully I'll have a bunch more units finished off by the end of the month. Depends how crazy things get around here.

these guys look great.

How do you do your green? I'm curious

Primed chaos black, based Dark Angels Green, then Snot Green, with Scorpion Green highlights. I like how the different layers bring out the definition of the green.

More additions to the 4th! Most of these need to be based to match the rest of the army, or have the chapter symbols finished, but I'll do that all in one go to save time.

3rd tactical squad. Needs basing and a few touchups. Not great job since the primer gunked them up =/

AoBR Terminators. Note the power fists. I'm going to try and do all PF and T.Hammers with this motif

Thanks :) I can put together about 2200 points worth but it won't have any cohesion. Lately I've been building a solid 1700 points list for the events in my local area. In the end I would like to be able to have enough options to run two different 2500 point armies, one being a derivative of the mech list I'm making now, the other (much later on) being a LR/Terminator/Vulkan rush build. Of course both armies would have the same base of tacticals and Vulkan. So far I have enough basic troops (tacs, scouts, assault & devs) and rhinos, now I need to build on my heavy armor. I'm trying to focus on one thing at a time.

Due what happened to highlights?

The best thing in your army (for me) has to be either the molten lava chainsword for that sergeant you did or the banner on tu'shan. It really look's like it's glowing, great job!!!

out of curiosity is that head a seperate bit for vulkan hestan?

Yeah. He comes separate pieces with body, head, Gauntlet of the Forge, and his right hand with the Spear of Vulkan.

Highlights will come soon. I've been trying to finish everything I need for the upcoming tourny at tabletop quality. I'm going to add all the highlights to everyone in one go. And I quite like the chainsword and banner too, thanks :cuss

Very nice :tu:

Thank you kindly :)

B&C Librarium Painting Challenge update #2

Here's my newest addition to my army, my Land Raider Redeemer. This has been something I've been looking forward to having ever since I've started my army, even more so since my acquisition of T.Hammer Terminators. Everyone at my LGS will be surprised since I never field terminators, and they've no clue I've been working on this project. :P

Nal'zar's right fist looks tremendous! Really good stuff you have here!

Good luck with the vow, I just have a contemptor to paint then my Salamanders vow is complete...

Thanks. I quite like how Nal'zar's fist turned out too. From now on any others in my army will have a similar feel to them as that look is more striking than my previous attempts. Though I do hope to improve the technique as I go along.

Good luck on the Contemptor, it's a great looking model. As for my vow, the Anvil of Time is going to press me sorely this month but I shall persevere. :)

Oh yeah! Predator's done! I did lots of extra work to make it really stand out, since it's my only pred.

I tried painting some scales, but I feel it came out looking more like camouflage. I'll improve it next time by trying to space them closer together and being a little more selective on the brighter colors. Not a bad first attempt though.

Lots of heat radiating off of the lascannons was another attempt at something new. I discovered wet-blending is difficult to do well.

Also I did lots of highlighting, which is something lots of my vehicles are lacking.

To really make the autocannon stand out I put the drake's head on the end and freehanded the flames. I tried a different way to painting the flame this time.

The sponsons are also magnatized, so if I want to paint up and switch out for heavy bolters in the future that option is open to me.

Let me know what you think. Always love comments and advice, since I usually will try suggestions for improvement on my upcoming projects. Speaking of which, with the pred done I will now be working on my 7 sternguard and 3 veteran sergeants to finish off my LPC vow. Lots to do, but I will succeed!

Now THAT is a sexy tank! The dragons head on the a-can looks very nice, might just have to steal that for my preds as well.

If you try varying the size of the scales more, and make it more uneven, it might come out less like camo.. I like the idea!

The flames along the barrel came out nice, like the layering of several fires! I'd suggest doing the smoke launchers in metal to break up the green a little when you look at it from straight ahead.

All in all a very sweet looking tank! Good job brother!

Thanks for the replies!

I'll try to tighten up the scales a bit next time I do them. But I'm really glad you each like the flames. I've practiced my freehand flame-work a lot over the last 3 years.

It's funny actually. I usually like ice-world things and dislike flames painted on stuff. However, with 40k I dislike Space Wolves and love my Salamanders so much that actually I've become decent at painting flames. Who knew? :)
