The Furious Abyss

Sons of Horus

well we all know how powerful the Furious Abyss was and that it was designed specifically to annihilate an entire legion of astartes. so my question is this, did abaddon base the Planet Killer from it? i mean they are simialr in many ways right? technically the same purpose as well. so again, do you think that it served as a template for the Planet Killer?

As far as I have gathered from the novel, everyone involved in building the ship was killed either at the beginning of the novel when theWord Bearers destroy the docks or at the end when the ship was destroyed, so there is probably no connection to the Planet Killer. Besides, if Abbadon had known in M31 how to build such a ship, he wouldn't have waited 10.000 years before building it.

eh, didn't Abbadabbadon have to use some crazy magical artifacts to power the planet killer, something that while it being the word bearers, probably wouldn't have had access to use, that or technology was a bit more refined.

as for the Abyss thing, i didn't really read the book, the story synopsis sounded far fetched, even for 40k, so i really can't comment.

From what I've understood of it all the Furious Abyss wasn't really on par with the Planet Killer at all.

After all the FA was basically just a normal big ship with extremely reinforced hull/protection and a great deal more guns/missiles. After all their greatest power was in the element of shock and surprise since

the Ultramarines knew nothing about Psychic powers/summoning Daemons

.

You have to remember that at the time it happened they had no idea what was about to hit them, neither had they any real experience dealing with the things mentioned above since

Daemons where told off as ridiculous humbug

and

Psychic powers or even presence wasn't something wildly encountered

.

actually most of the tech during the GC and HH were much better and stronger than the tech being used now. the main reason for this is that during the GC and HH, most of their equipment was based of STCs which were later lost due to varying reasons. STCs = nearly perfect equipment ;)

anyway you guys are probably right about the two ships being unrelated. thanks ;)

I believe your confussing the Planet Killer and the Blackstone Fortress. The fortress was the ancient weapon Abbadon activated with an artifact.
