WIP Space Wolf Army (updated 29/8/15)

If you're still looking for some added inspiration, check out the WIP thread in my sig below. I had put together some fairly nice Wolf Guard models, but then a sculpter I contacted made them really stand out with some pelts on capes that really looked spectacular. It wasn't my idea, but I'm really happy to have them.

Your models are more dynamic than those I had put together and I think doing the same to them would make a really stand out wolf guard unit.

Check it out. Good luck.

i've not been totally idle with the army... i've got the wolves for my lord now...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00523.jpg

they are about the same height as a marine, but when you compare them to one of my finished space wolves on a scenic base, they don't look ridonculously big...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00525.jpg

then i've got a very WIP grey hunter... not much done but it gives you an idea of the overall look of them when they are finished

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00532.jpg

then theres some more work done to one of my wolf guard...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00528.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00530.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00529.jpg

i'm not happy with the shoulder pads but the fur looks ok.

then i think i've found a solution to the missing arm on the othr wolf guard... the shoulder pads are very WIP and will get a couple of plasticard layers and some green stuff on before they are done... they'll also have fur scultped underneath to cover the shoulders of the arms... kinda like a power armoured version of my 'pre-heresy-ish' termie.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00526.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00527.jpg

then theres the leader of the wolf guard terminator bodyguard... he's had a few wolf tail talismans added and some small gems... plus more work to the drinking horn

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00534.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00533.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00537.jpg

still on greenstuff... the pack leader for the long fangs has had mutton chops put on... might not be the best pic but you get the idea

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00531.jpg

and lastly... more painting has been going on here, as most of you will have seen my painted wolf guard now i won't repost that (again) but i have been working on my new drop pod...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00505.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00508.jpg

and yes i realise that its not fully assembled but i needed to paint the interior details before i finished building it to get them how i wanted...

would love to hear your opinions as always guys...

some updates on my drop pod... all the metals pretty much done, just the restraints left but i'm not sure about whtehr they will be metal or grey like the armour... i did some minor conversions to it, considering its for my termies i thought it'd be a bit stupid having the top half of the restraint wih the gap for a marine backpack in there so i just snipped the top half off... i said it was minor... no other conversions planned, although i did make sure i filed the doors down slightly so they didn't scrape away the paint when they were opened and closed...

I called those as PP models when I saw them. 'Course, doesn't hurt that I play circle, does it :D

This is all beautiful stuff. I am scared to see how amazing it will all look, fully painted, on the table top.

thanks ^_^

and i have to say some of the models that pp have released are awesome... may well start fitting them into some of my other armies...

this has a long way to go before its finished (although i'm still playing with it when i can) but its definately keeping my interest, as too often i find myself starting something and then getting bored and moving on, just check my crimson fists...

after a while away from converting and paintng up space wolves im back... basically i let up on the model front incase i spent ages converting and painting models only to find out i couldn't use them, so heres the shots of my latest WIP batch...

Blood Claws, i had the forge world chain axes for a while, and always wanted my bloodclaws to be modeled without bolt pistols so i finally got round to doing it...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00723.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00722.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00725.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00729.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00730.jpg

then theres my wolf lord, redone the hammer and found a nice shield for him. the wolf cloak needs to be scultped but that'll be shown in the tutorial im working on

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00709.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00710.jpg

Then another Wolf Guard terminator... i wanted to add a heavy weapon to them in the old dex but never got round to it...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00720.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00721.jpg

Then theres the start of my venerable dread... took inspiration from some of the conversions ive seen around with regards to the front... then decided that the close combat arem wasn't up to scratch so started converting so let me know what you think.

Oh and for a cookie and a glass of milk, hidden in some of these pics is a clue as to the next mini i'll be working on...

Comments and critiques much appreciated as normal guys. Thanks in advance

And would the next project be a wolf priest, based on the crozius in the Blood Claw pics?

Any opinions on the dreads power fist?

The dreadnought looks stunning... never been a fan of the plain sarcophagus that comes with the plastic dreadnoughts. What did you use as the body and head? Looks like you have used a Terminator body from Forge World and a Grey Knight helmet. As for the close combat weapon on your dread I'd suggest giving it a claw look. As if each finger has teeth taken from a kraken it had slain in combat. They all need to be more bulked out maybe spreading the 4 "main" fingers further apart. An alternative option is to give him an actual hammer to wield. Although he would need more of a wrist to wield it.

Cheers, Messanger
