Captain Mick`s new SM Army

Captain Mick; I really like your blues. Have you tried other colors like red or green? I'm thinking about a secondary Chaos Space Marine army but don't want to get bogged down with traditional painting and this looks very fast and effective.

 

For your golds -- are you washing them at all? If you wanted a richer, darker gold you could use brown ink, but for Ultras your golds look spot on. I'm also going to suggest making going back and washing your reds and white\bieges with diluted brown ink as I think it'd make them 'pop' a lot more.

 

Oh and good job on the Captain's power sword! I don't really like the hard-line high lighting and lightning bolt patterns most preform to use and your dry brushing on it looks great.

 

Mmm, I'm going to have to agree with Captain Kantor this time. With the large, flat armor plates, the Dreadnought's blue does look to be slapped on. Maybe on your next one/next tank, you could get a large, flat brush, (I have one that is about 1 inch across) and drag the paint across the silver in one direction. That would make it look neater, and you might get some cool effect.

 

Looks pretty good though, make sure you drill out the gun barrels =-D

 

Yes, I'll third the sentiment that it's kind of slapped on compared to the rest. However, it would make for a very cool Tzeentch dedicated army with all the nebulous, almost swirling patterns the ink produced. More Thousand Sons-ish then Ultramarines.

I used red 2times at Sergeants helmet from first 2 tactical squads. Green used on the power sword

Devlan Mud used on the gold but u dont see it very well because pictures are taken with flash probally.

I wanted to make this army diffrent then my other SM armys i had so i used this way not traditional but just nice and diffrent -_-. I will try to work on it to get the slapped on effect away next time.

The metal on right shoulderpard looks darker then on picture so that u know. I hope you like them :rolleyes:, tomorrow i will paint the 5terminators or sternguard. Comments are ofcourse welcome again.

Looks good! No wash lines. Very nice. But now theres another quibbler. You should try to remove all flash and mold lines before commencing painting.

I will when gonna buy next boxes but terminators etc.. are all undercoated again so if gonna get it away now and undercoat again it will get to think layer of undercoat. But next time i will think of it thanks for comment :D.

Really good. Not too many pools of blue ink as usual. I still see mold lines, and places where you removed the shoulder-shield thingies from the sprue. Lookin really good, you're churning these things out like theres no tomorrow

Still mouldlines indeed but as i said whole load i bought a while ago is undercoated already so this load i just paint and with next i gonna remove mouldlines ;). The Shoulder thingie i saw when i started painting :P.

I have loads of things that I undercoated back from when I sucked a lot at this..but I just have to go back and shave off the things, and recoat them. It'll look better in the long run. Especially when your army uses a wash as its primary color, so it'll pool next to the mold line..which IMO looks....bad.

Heads up: Next time, put the LR weapon sponson on the front, you'll get an extra 2" on range. =-D

 

The blue is messy indeed. What happened to the full strokes like you did on the Sternguard? Got lazy? The gold looks like it could use another coat too, to prevent the undercoat from coming through.

The range thing i will remember next time :) . About the paints i did full strokes and some things even had 3 or 4layers of blue but the paint just didnt came at it well. The gold was perfect with first 2layers but because the devlan mud wash it went like this, wasnt because lazy :P .

 

Edit: Today assembled vindicator / scouts and devaster squad for half, devastors in finish in some days same as Calgar. I update when got things painted.
