The question is, were they around during the Heresy or did they develop afterward? Chances are, I think, the latter. 5000 years is a long time. The only things I've read about the Silent Sisters was in that book. But If this splinter group idea had any merit I thnk they would have been post heresy, If they did indeed evolve from the silent sisters I would then consider them to be around pre heresy. It´s impossible to say if they had been founded during the Great Crusade or later. I don´t think that the Daughters are a splinter group of the Sisters of Silence. All Sisters had one thing in common: they are all Pariah, null-entities to the warp. It´s very likely that, like any other imperial organisation, the SoS are not flexible enought to adoped new doctrines in their recruitment methods. The Pariah gene is what makes the SoS so effective as witchhunters. Gamewise, i think they would be a bit gamebreaking with their ability to negate any psychic ability on the table.
