Muskie Posted June 3, 2009 Share Posted June 3, 2009 The Dragon Forge bases are pretty nice, though they don't take spray primer (GW) so well. In the CoC thread or my WIP thread is some pictures of finished bases, possibly the Wasteland II. I ordered some more bases from another company and I plan to get some Micro Arts one some day. You get such a different effect from the same basic paints as I do. I'll have Bob done maybe tonight, that is a new(er) different look for Plaguemarines, kinda a French smooth blended thing... They have a real menace feel to their poses, especially Mr. covered in frontal blood splatter! While I think they are great, maybe what's bothering you is the blue trim on their helemt's crests....'bunny ears' for lack of a better description. Maybe go with metal trim on them, or, shade the blue trim on their lids darker. Overall though, they turning out great!! The DeathGuard are great too! I'm guilty of NEVER washing my resin models, maybe that's the key? lol... I wanted to get Micro Art, but they're ridiculously expensive, especially considering I have 4 armies that all work together and I'd have to get almost 300 bases. @Kenaz - Thank you for the compliments! I don't think it's the "bunny ears"... I think it was the coloring on my first one. They were waaay too bright. With the new scheme, they mesh well with my Death Guard AND Renegades, which was really what I was looking for. I may try the darker idea, though... Not really new pieces per say, but pictures of older ones based on my Dragon Forge bases. I just want to say to anyone looking to pick up some high quality bases at a good price, check out Dragon Forge they're great, and considering the sheer amount I had to purchase (still not half of what I need), it worked out well. My only gripe is the seam on his left rear shoulder, could have used a bit of GS in there. You could always add it in now, or not, he looks awesome as is. I finished my last Dreadnought and based him, bringing my total to three Dreadnoughts, which is where I'm stopping. Due to the new Codex's treatment of the unit, they aren't often included in my list anyhow.
