Hey guys, like the title says I need some help with my army since my current win/loss record is relatively...well, pathetic. Right now, there are 3 other regulars at the store I play at--2 marine players and 1 'nids. I generally have good matches against 1 of the marines, but I seriously doubt the other 2 guys even view me as a challenge. Anyway here's the list

Skarbrand
Skulltaker w/ Juggernaut

3 flamers
6 fiends w/ might

10 bloodletters w/ fury
10 plaguebearers w/ icon, instrument
changeling, 9 horrors w/ icon

Karanak, 8 flesh hounds w/ fury

total- 1500 pts

wave 1--pb's, fiends, horrors

wave 2--skulltaker w/ 'letters, flamers, hounds, skarbrand

I was thinking of switching skulltaker and the 'letters out for 5 'crushers and a HoK w/ juggernaut, fury, blessing and might. Any thoughts?

You don't have a build that supports Skarbrand very well. A Skar build focuses on high I units to get all their attacks in and kill the enemy before they can strike back. A Normal thirster would suit you better.

I'd drop the icons and dogs for as many Soul Grinders as possible. These things are solid gold.

Against marines however you need to be wary of the LCs. They're cheap, and there's usually a lot of them.

What kind of marines are they? Dual LRC list at 1500 is always a pain in the ass for a daemon player, combined with devastators w plasma cannon/heavy bolter, attack bike with assault cannon, baal....etc, they can dish out an absurd amount of dakka per turn and for our lack of armour save....well you do the maths.

If by LCs, you mean lightning claws? Loyalist marines won't field them in great numbers; they come on assault termiantors (...though most folks would rather take TH/SS ones), Vanguard, and on Assault Squad sarges or HQs.

I concur with ==ME==. Drop Skarbrand for a Bloodthirster with unholy might and blessing of the blood god.

Drop the flesh hounds.

Look for a way to get a Soul Grinder or other large target; as is all the anti-tank stuff goes into the Bloodthirster/skarbrand. If all else fails, a second grinder/MC will help you kill tanks. Bloodthirsters in general are pretty nasty, as S9+2d6 = most vehicles take it.

Lascannons. Not horribly worried about lightning claws.

Like the others said, change Skarbrand to a normal 'thirster with might at least. Normally I'd say take blessing, but I don't really view 'nid and SM psychic powers as that much of a threat, since they both tend to go for the support powers anyway. However, if you have 5 points left over then I'd get blessing.

Why have you taken Skulltaker on a 'jugger? I know you can put him with the bloodletters, but I view that as a subpar choice, I'd drop him to free up points for that soulgrinder ==Me== mentioned. If you drop the hounds as well you should be able to get a second one.

You might want to even up your wave choices a bit, as it stands all your durable stuff is in one wave while your killy stuff is in the other. If you get the wrong wave you're screwed, and if you don't then until turn three you basically have no killing power.

Actually, I have been wanting to get a SG, but the main problem has been cost(money). I should be able to get 1 soon though, but definitely not 2. I could probably part with the hounds pretty easily since I mainly had them for speed, but that probably won't be needed anymore with a flying BT and a SG spitting on people. Oh, and as for the kinds of marines they are, the better player has I think 3 tac. squads, a dreadnaut, a squad of 5 th/ss termies and a 10-man squad of sternguard with a character that makes them scoring(Pedro Cantor I think he called him?), and I think the other player's changing his army to include bikes as troops, so I don't really know what he'll have. Anyway, here's the revised list

BT w/ might, blessing
HoK w/ juggernaut, might, blessing, fury

4 flamers
6 fiends w/ might
5 'crushers w/ fury

10 pb's w/ icon, instrument
changeling, 9 horrors w/ icon, bolt

SG w/ phlegm

total--1500 pts

wave 1--fiends, horrors, BT, SG

wave 2--flamers, pb's, 'crushers w/ HoK

sound good?

That's a lot of elites, and very few troops, it's an ok list, I just think it would have serious problems in objective missions. I'd try and get a third troops choice in there.
