HQ
Daemon Prince - wings, MoN, nurgle's rot
Daemon Prince - wings, MoN, warp time

Troops
8 Plague Marines - champ w/pf, 2 melta, rhino
8 Plague Marines - champ w/pf, 2 melta, rhino
7 Plague Marines - champ w/pf, 2 plasma, rhino
7 Plague Marines - champ w/pf, 2 plasma, rhino
10 CSM - IoCG, champ w/pf, melta, laser, rhino

Heavy Support
2 Obliterators
2 Obliterators

The 2 pm melta squads rush forward with the csm following behind. The plasma pm run to objectives and dig in. The obliterators go after transports first and the princes do their thing.

10 CSM - IoCG, champ w/pf, melta, laser, rhino

what does this suppose to do? a pm squad with plasma guns would be a better objective camper . a dual melta squad would be better as anti tank . whats stranger for a static unit [lascanon] you give it a short range 12" weapon[that in most cases you are going to want near a tank so you will be forced to move , but then no lascanons etc] and on top of that you give the unit a rhino and an asp champion with a fist ?
thats a very , very overcosted objective camper , that really sucks whe you dont play an objective based game .

Yeah I'm the same, if it were me I'd maybe swap the 10 CSM squad for 7 pm's, 2 flamers, fist and a rhino and use them to go burning out squads of guardians and there reduculous fortuned cover saves and guard weapon teams in cover. You get more t5 fnp troops which are leagues above there CSM brothers.

This is Rumour Control, here are the facts...

I will playtest with the pm/flamer squad.

What that squad does, ugly as it is, is sit on a rear objective. The odd load out is for deep striking walkers and other nasties that pop up deep in my deployment zone (happens a lot at 2k points.) Without the PF I cant touch a dreadnought and he will eat the squad alive. The las cannon is to take pop shots at rhinos and such while I am sitting in my rhino on an objective. The melta is the same as the fist - when the dreadnought deep strikes, I will get 1 melta shot and a las cannon shot, and if he lives I have a power fist to finish him.

Now that I have been called out on it, if I take it I will not see a deep striking dread and if I don't I will see 3 lists with 2 dreads and a sternguard squad dropping in on turn 1.

Without the PF I cant touch a dreadnought and he will eat the squad alive

if its 2 k then if something drops then its going to be 3/4 drop pods[2+seems to be the minimum] and there is no way a single squad will survive that fist or not .

The melta is the same as the fist - when the dreadnought deep strikes, I will get 1 melta shot and a las cannon shot, and if he lives I have a power fist to finish him.

you will get 0 lascanon shots , because if the person placing the drop pod is wise he will put it in a such a way that you will not see him [whats not hard to do when you have 1 squad on the objective] and if you do move then he will have cover saves from the single melta shot . chance to kill around 0.

I am aware of how many pods drop. If he drops so I can't shoot him, then he can't shoot me and I am OK with that. Sitting in a rhino, he has to pop the rhino befor he can touch me, and I can shoot the melta ans las cannon from inside. With that very unit I have killed a number of dreadmoughts. There is little value in drop podding in and hiding from the opponent during your shooting phase.

I'm with Jeske. Assault and heavy/rapid-fire weapons do not mix, and should not mix. That squad is an expensive point sink. Specialize 'em, because right now, they're the biggest gap in this army's effectiveness.. and, aside from that, they stick out like a sore thumb. A bunch of Chaos Marines stumbled into a Plague Marine convention, or something? ;) The Obliterators are fine... maybe switch the Havocs for more Obliterators, or perhaps even another squad of Plague Marines. All I kind come up with this early which fits the theme.

Kill those Havocs. They're ineffective.
