I'm done, its rendering now ... so in about maybe an hour I'll have the final pic in orbit of Terra.

But before that, let me give you the final layout and one of the pics I went by.

Firstly, I mostly went by this Battle Barge pic.

And this is how mine turned out.

great work so far, but I somehow feel it would benefit from some more texturing, like adding small rectangles of darker and brighter grey (but of course keeping it subtle).

Its a decent low poly model of a cruiser, it's nice work. but as Obliterator says it could really use more texturing and possibly a bump map for a little more texture.

i cant help but feel that your background / planet isnt helping, the alpha channel/bump map on the planet looks really rough, lastly. the atmohpheric corona implies a light source behind the planet, wheras the lighting on the model is behind the camera, more consistency with the lighting would help a lot.

persoanlly with a model like this i'd be tempted to do a few render passes, ignore the background plate entirey and compisite the model, its alpha channel reflection passes etc together onto a 2d planet image in photoshop or something similar.

those things would help to stop the feeling that it's "floating" on the image surface and help to make it a part of the finished picture. modelling is only half the story with this stuff.

hope those comments help and you dont think i'm criticising a good model, but rather trying to help improve your final image ;)
