Still learning to paint but I borrowed littlbitz recipe.....

1. 50/50 choas black shadow grey base coat (not littlbitz)

2. Shadow grey

3. Highlight 1 is 1part SW grey to 2 parts shadow

4. Highlight 2 is 1 to 1 SW and shadow

5. Highlight 3 is 1part shadow to 2 parts sw grey

6. Skull white on extreme edges

Here's a WIP example of my armor. Armor is done except for the stuff that has to be fixed in the touch up phase.

I use Delta ceramcoat acrylic paints as I prefer to mix colors and the bottles they use allow easy measure of drops.

Black base and over the top white highlighting. I will use inks, but instead mostly leave the black from the base showing.

3 drops Storm Grey

1 drop Blue Horizon

1 drop Quaker Grey

1 drop White

Yellow is Opaque Yellow

There is another thread listed around here on Pre-Heresy wolves that actually has a really great recipe using Adeptus Battlegrey, iirc. Inyaden Darksun looks to be a great color though!! A badab black wash over those posted and some re-application of highlights and you'd be golden!

Today i bought the colors to paint my wolves :) .

I found the tutorial on this forum very useful so i will paint my wolves with codex gray , fortress gray and leviathan purple to make shadows .

Than i think that every pack will have a rune and i will paint them in different colors , it will dipends if they are grey hunters (black and red) blood claws (yellow and red) and so on :) .

As soon as i will paint them i will show you some photoes :) .

I use Fenris Grey over a black primer

Then Shadow Grey

Wash with black ink

Heavy drybrush of more shadow grey

A quick drybrush of Space Wolves Grey

Then on to the details

Dear lord, that's clean!

Think I may go with Mjolnir's method:

adeptus battley grey, badab black wash,

then high lights with the battlegrey mixed with codex grey.

Darn it, I've been trying to paint my Wolves for a month now and there is one big problem - the highlighting in which I really, really suck. Despite all the tutorials, I just can't seem to get it right. Currently, I'm trying to prime it black, basecoat it with codex grey and then the (wonderful) tutorial says "base highlight with fortress grey" - I would really like to but I don't know how. And further highlights are just so mysterious to me that it's getting frustrating.

Does anyone know about a MARINE highlighting tutorial with perhaps some pics where would be specifically said: "highlight exactly HERE with THIS, then give another highlight HERE with THIS" and so on? I've been searching for something like that but I just can't find any. The only highlighting technique I'm getting familiar with is the drybrushing but I don't really like the results.

If anyone could help me, I would be forever grateful.

Here's an old tutorial I did for a friend's website

http://www.thegamersguild.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=146

It won't win you any GD awards but will take through basics including highlighting.

Many will agree that one of the secrets to painting is to thin your paint down - sometimes quite a lot. Another, and possibly the most important is PRACTICE. There are very few who produce top quality minis without having some dodgy ones in the process - we have all been there. And since doing that step-by-step I have changed slightly the way I do things as I have learnt new ways of doing things

Wish you the best and don't be scared to post W.I.P pics of your wolves and take the C&Cs on the chin

Primer Black

Dry Paint Necron Abyss

Badab Black Wash

Regal Blue (Leave some of previous scheme showing in recesses)

2:1 Regal Blue : Ultramarine Blue (Like before, some previous scheme showing)

Ultramarine Blue (in a streaky downward pattern)

1:1 Ultramarine Blue : Ice Blue (Use to highlight in a similar method as the streaky Ultramarine Blue)

^Dezartfox's style. I adapted it. The dark blue thing is dating back to their Rogue Trader era:

The style is just because I think it looks "frosty". Sorry no pics as I am currently away from home.
