Is anyone going to GamesDay in Chicago this year? I just wanted to see how many people would be there this year from this particular site. I know of a few other people from a different site and will really enjoy seeing them again. If anyone from this site is going, are you going to sign up for any of the contests in the form of banner contest, costume contest, speed painting, conversion contest, etc?,

I am thinking about going for the first time. I was thinking of going mostly to play some games on open tables (if any) or doing that speed game setup I had seen mentioned. I was planning on hitting up the store while there, but the posts from Baltimore about the crazy lines has me thinking that's not a good way to spend my day. Any advice for a first-timer?

While the lines for the store were kind of bad, it was the lines for forgeworld that were crazy. One nice thing about the store is that they have hard to find models, and they also usually sell old, out of print stock at a low price. For example, I saw blood thirsters being sold for $10, and sentinals for $8. Some people were made very happy with the discount stock. I have no idea if the same will happen at GD chicago, but if you are there its worth checking into.

What is the name of your club, Seahawk? I will be on the look out for you guys. IF you guys are NOT entering the banner contest, give some shouts out for mine.lol I am sure you guys will NOT be disappointed. Also, stop by and drop a line or two during the Armies on Parade thing they will be having.

Northern Illinois Miniature Gaming Club. Not bothering with banner stuff, but we'll hold a couple gaming tables.

I'll also be in Armies on Parade with my Ultramarines fleet. After winning best painted at Adepticon last year, I felt like showing them off . Hopefully others like them.

I might be able to meet up with you guys at one of your tables. If you guys are able to stop by during the armies on parade, please do so. I might even hold up a sign with your B&C screen name at the entrance. If I forget to make the sign to call out for you, just look for a very unique looking banner.

I am announcing that I will NOT be able to do the Armies on Parade thing at GD. I am still entering the banner contest though. Too bad I will not be able to do both of those events. The terrain that I have is just coming out like I want and I also have family and school obligations that place before all of that.

A buddy of mine and I are making the drive from Detroit on Friday. This will be my second Gamesday. I'm trying to finish up the work on my Dawnbringers that I'd like to bring. This year I'm mainly concentrating on going to the paint clinics and terrain builds.

I should be easy to spot. I'm 6'4, shaved head, and I walk with a cane. Give me a hollar!

I plan on being there – you can maybe even goad Orkdung & number6 into coming as well (along with some of the Southern Wisconsin regulars).

@Seahawk, I was planning on holding some tables as well. It was certainly my pleasure to meet some of your crew at Adepticon earlier this year. Should we plan on getting some games going?

That would include an open invite to any B&C’ers who can make it. That is unless you fear to take on the Infernal Warband of Sa’lili the Lie, which is perfectly understandable. :)

Let me know your thoughts and maybe we should consider putting some plans together.

Cheers, -OMG

My club is hosting a couple club tables actually, not open gaming tables. Sorry for any confusion  . My girly and I are thinking of bringing some small armies for open gaming if there is any, however, so yea, count me in. I'll be doing the Armies on Parade dealio from 1-2...I think.

I'll be there as a spectator for the frist time in 8 years. I'll be dragging an army up in the off chance that there is open gaming. I just need to see how far the nearest public air feild is from the convention center.

I have been to GD the last two years and in my experience I have noticed quite a few tables setup with terrain and no one playing on them, I am guessing that those are the open gaming tables. I usually go to enter the Golden Demon contsts (made first cut two years in a row!). I also enjoy the conversion contest, paint and take, and last year (I think it was) they had Forgeworld scale games of Aeronautica (sp?) which was a lot of fun to play too. I might go this year with my kids, but money is a little tight and it is a 3 hour drive.

I believe this is a relatively new update(as I didn't see it on the Chicago GD page before):

Open Gaming

After reviewing your feedback we have expanded our Open Gaming area at this year's event. We have added 21 studio quality and 2 dozen standard tables for you to play on with your own armies.

Maybe they learned a thing or two from Baltimore?

Well, I just got back from GamesDay:Chicago 2009 and had a blast doing the banner contest. This is my second time winning the event in a row. My banner was the Adeptus Mechanicus one. Seahawk, I did see you there but totally forgot that you were going to be there with your Ultramrines fleet for the AoP. If they have GD:C 2010, I will be there and IF they have AoP again, I WILL be in that without question. I was going to be in it this year, just could not get my terrain to do what I wanted to. Oh well, Keep in touch with me for those of you that attended or will be attending next year. I think you will like what I have in store for the next banner contest. Peace out.

Saw your banner, nice work! Gratz on the win.
