Very cool armies indeed. Some very gifted individuals were there last year.

I intend to be going to Heat 1 provided my plans don't change.

Gona go Space Marines, as I have a few lists I intend try out which I think would give me an advantage over my list last year! ;)

Hopefully taking my Deathwing army this year, I fancy my chances - here's hoping :)

Never been to a GT before, but attended several of the Conflicts and enjoyed myself.

I think there's a few of of us going from Glasgow so it should be a good laugh :tu:

I've never been to a GT or Golden Demon but I'm hopefully attending both this year, just depends if work wants to deploy me somewhere around the planet (fingers crossed they don't).

Its a bit of incentive to complete a competitive 1500pt BA list though with plenty of time to fine tune it.

Hmm. I may have to go to Heat 3. Sorry Insane Psychopath, but I promised Graham that I would meet up with him and share a room etc. If the army prevents him from going (which we will find out later this year) I will come to the same one as you. Sorry again

Tell me about it, I'm gona be using it as motivation too! (I'm so lazy!)

I'm about 90% decided that I'll be attending heat 2 or 3 but 0% decided on which army to take.

I've got a BA list worked out and a mono-Khorne Daemon list as well but it's deciding which one will travel to Birmingham. I want to post both lists in the same post but can't really do that in their respective forums. Can I do it here instead?

do you think it's alright to take models that are moderately painted, not messy but kinda neat and painted about amature wise, with a few alright ones but none of them are near good, but a few are gws standard well a few, none of them are eye catching really and not are very well painted, does it matter? i know they take it into account and add it up with points etc. but i just wanna play, because i feel i might be embarressed playing with kinda crap/ average teenage painted models, i doubt that i will get replacements in time. and what are heats?, i got a rough idea, but not sure what heats are exactly.

sorry for the nooby question XD.

thanks

As long as there painted with three colour (three dot do not count toward this) min. Dose not matter the standard of one person painting.

and what are heats?,

You enter one of the three UKGT heats & only ONE per year. If you make the top cut usely around 45 to 50 people, you get a free ticket to the UKGT Finials which are usely held in March where the best of the best go, also other get through by painting award or by wild cards which is usely those who miss out say it 45 people for the cut, person came 46/47 usely get given wild cards.

There six games over two days. 1500pts for a army. Also age 16+

You do get a lot people who not played for some time. I belive Simon De Tomas winner of a few GT Heats & finials (or that least top 4?) did not play a single game of 5th Ed until the GT heat 3.

You should attend even if it for the social side. I personial find you learn a lot more fighting new people for the first time/from the tournament.

Yep as said it is unfair toward other who may want to enter the GT only to not get in because other chose to enter more than one GT heat. Since there only 150 people per heat & ticekt sell out fast.

Think if your wanting to enter the GT for the first time only to be deny because someone enter more than one heat & think how annoyed you'd be if you like your tournaments.

Whole idea is you only enter one & if you make the cut you get through to the finials as a well done for hard gaming.

It alway been this way. Anyone who has enter more then one heat or a finial who did not make the cut are usely ask to leave with no money back.

On another note those enter the GT, don't forget to ask for your limited ed Space Marine if they still do that £50+ thing get a free limited ed marine with power fist.

Well with less than one week until the UK Grand Tournament ticket go on sale (17th July, that THIS Fri!!!!!)

Some info I spoted over on the warhammer world blog

http://warhammerworld.typepad.com/warhamme...rld-events.html

Important Announcement: Major Changes to the House Rules for Warhammer World Events

For a while now, Warhammer World Events have produced a rules-based House Rules document prior to our events in order to help players answer some of the burning rules issues of the day. To manage and deliver this consistently, even with the help of some fantastic volunteers from within the Community and Games Workshop, has been problematic to say the least.

First and foremost, our events revolve around the integrity of the Core Rules, which are written on the understanding that they can't possibly cover every single eventuality that may come up during a game. An important point to emphasise is that as grown ups, we are all more than capable of reaching an amicable agreement with our opponents for how something should be resolved during a particular situation; in the rare circumstances where we can't then it's time to call in a Referee to sort it out.

This is important because it reinforces the Referees position within our events; they are the rules experts on the day, and are more than capable of solving with any queries as they arise. If they can't find the answer, then they will use the Most Important rule to ensure that play is resumed with minimal disruption as fairly as possible.

To this end, as of the 17th of July 2009, Warhammer World will no longer be offering a rules answering service as part of our event offer. We will be refocusing the House Rules Document onto providing clarifications to the event and any other information we think that players need to know in order to take part in our events.

The reasoning for this is simple; as our events are founded on the integrity of the Core Rules, Army Books, Codexes and Official Errata that Games Workshop produces, anything that comes from another source confuses what is official and what's not. From now on, rules clarifications will come from one source, and that's the same one that writes them in the first place. On the day of an event, the Referees still have the final say in any rules matter, even if their rulings go against the established norm.

We realise that we are potentially removing a valuable source of material for future Errata updates by not answering any queries that come in by email, but there is a simple fix for this. If anyone sends in a rules query via the Events email address, we will be happy to forward it on to an apropriate person on their behalf.

This is on the understanding that no immediate answers are available, but that the query will be read and where appropriate, be included into the next scheduled update for the Official Errata Documents. If the issue does come up during one of our events, then the Referees will be more than happy to sort it out for them there and then.

If you have any questions about this or anything else to do with Warhammer World Events, then please get in touch with us via:

All that's left to say is good luck and see you there!

Warhammer Battlefields: Aaarrggh! Grots did it!

For those of you looking at the blog recently and pondering whether or not to attend this year's Warhammer Battlefields Event and Grand Tournaments would have probably spotted some strange-ness when it comes to some of the content of the packs.

The answer to this was a recent infestation of Grots who had sneakily infested the office and left a trail of destruction in their wake. For Battlefields in particular, the dimensions in the scenarios have cause confusion to reign as some players queried how you can fit 6,000 points of troops into a 6" x 4" deployment zone.

With the GT packs, it was a previous version that was posted that has caused some concern out in the Community.

The online PDF for Battlefields has been corrected, and a House Rules Document has been published with some clarifications to hopefully inform and enlighten those who have suffered the after effects of said infestation. The two GT packs will be up in time for their relaeas this Friday.

Battlefields Tickets are still on sale for anyone wanting a cracking weekend of social gaming. Throne of Skulls Grand Tournament tickets will go on sale for all of the Heats on the 17th of July.

In order to stop this happening again, Warhammer World staff have been appropriately armed with large fly swatters and cans of 'Grot-Gone' spray. Thanks to everyone who wrote in and pointed out the issues they did.
