Ugghh. I have to stop being so distracted! I need to finish that Sternguard squad!

Before

After

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2659.jpg

Its only a subtle change, but it still looks a lot better. Wouldn't you say so too?

Attached to Sternguard squad Prometheus, The Hephaestus provides long range fire support.

I just got through reading Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder and Mythology by Edith Hamilton for my English class. I quite like the Greek Mythology that we'll be covering for the semester, and I think I'm going to label all of my stuff after Gods and Titans. ;) Logically of course.

For starters, Prometheus is a Titan related to fire (Multi Meltas), while Hephaestus is the god of Fire and the Forge (attached to squad with Multi Meltas). Land Raiders will be titled after Olympian Dieties (Main gods), and squads will be titled after Primordial Dieties ( "secondary" gods).

My two Vanguard squads will be named Ouranos (Primordial), who was the god of the heavens, and Aether (Primordial) who was the god of upper air.

Quite confusing I know, but I think if I really put a bit of thought to it, it could actually work :)

Edit: Add

Add list:Heres how it goes. Sternguard are all in Land Raiders. On the right, it shows what kind of 2 heavy weapons each squad will have, which corresponds with the Land Raider names.

A quick draft, but I think I really like it. I can add to it when I get other tanks and scouts and other goodies ;)

So I watched Terminator 2 again, and Rent..for the unthmillionth time. :D

Which got me to finish the Terminator. (Done, just needs paint)

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2661.jpg

While looking for the last bits, I found a bunch of Drop Pod details :D :D

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2663.jpg

And I drybrushed the Necron Abyss with Ultramarine Orange, and then gave it two washes of the Abyss...which didn't really do too much  I like the way that the engine cover came out the most, I really like the shade of blue ;)

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2662.jpg

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2666.jpg

And I felt really good, so I decided to paint the banner for The Hephaestus

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2665.jpg

I redid the U and S, and touched up the first E while the pictures were uploading, so they look a lot better. I also painted the tracks on the LR with Bestial Brown...and I have to say.. I HATE being a sloppy painter..I have to do some black touch ups now.. :(

Since I have 50something Sternguard to make...eventually, I need to make some pieces.

I've started sculpting some chest plates, and if I deem them good enough, I'll think about casting them.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2668.jpg

They're just pre-sculpt. I need to sand, then touch up, then do the chest straps. I think they're pretty good considering my current sculpting abilities.

I'll try to do some cool legs and bolters when I get the chance as well.

Yep..so another wasted weekend.

Saturday I spent the morning (6 AM-12 noon) taking my ACT, which is another standardized test for us Californians to take so we can get into college... Then I went to my school to help my friend with his Eagle Project (Yep, I'm a Boy Scout). Then after that, my friends and I did a video-picture scavenger hunt...which was a humongous load of fun. One of the things we had to do was to serenade to someone...so we serenaded to a car next to us. -_- (I'm riding shotgun)

Watch at your own risk

Then today I went to San Francisco to have lunch with my extended family...and came home and did some homework and virtually nothing else... BUT! I did get a gift from my uncle...who works for the newspaper, and...back in the day, before computer editing, they used knives to place the articles...and now he doesn't need them so...

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2711.jpg

I think I'm set :D :D :D

And I decided that I've been wanting to paint a Dreadnought for so long, I started pulling apart my first one...that I didn't assemble..and I found that the person who did (My friend who no longer paints) did so...crappily, and I was able to pick at it with index finger..and it all popped off...

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2709.jpg

And my sister had painted three models a while back, so I told her I was going to use them in my army, and I needed her to paint me 7 more...so she gets to spend some time with me painting :P

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2713.jpg

Those are two Crimson Fists, and I believe...is a...um...Blood Angel? Heh..I dunno :D

Wow, not a lot of comments here. Can't say I understand that myself.

I dunno if I've said it already, but you've got a nice blue going on these marines, and the black shoulderpads saves them from looking too much like the ultrasmurfs. The assault squad is cool too, very dynamic.

I'm looking forward to seeing where you take that dread. There's no front piece for the sarcophagus in the pic though, is that missing?

You sisters paintjobs look quite good too.

Not a lot, but its more than any of my other threads, so I'm semi-contempt. ^o) Thanks on the Vets, but I'm not quite sure of what I want to do with the shoulderpad borders. I want them to be gold, but now that you've said something about the smurfs..I really don't anymore :D ;)

Well, originally it looked like this, I think it was the first thing I might have 'completed'

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/Brother_Dreadnought_Vigilus_by_shor.jpg

If you even want to call it that :D So I ripped off the DA iconography. and now....

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2715.jpg

Much better. =-P The front plate will have some sort of sculpted icon, and if it doesn't work out..I have about 4 more to try with! :D

My sister was surprised with your comment, thanks :D

Some great stuff in here, I quite like your painting style. Pity to see the dread got mauled but I'm sure you'll fix it

Eh, it was worth it =-D

The FW Masterclass book is available through their site.

To download!? Oh my goodness! I must find it.

I'm going to attempt to make twin-linked Autocannons with some sponsons that I tried to make into a scratch build Dreadnought some time ago, so I think they fit well. (They were going to be the backpack-engine part) And also some twin-linked heavy bolters, and if it works well, I'll find one more left arm piece, and I can have a Mortis! :D

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2716.jpg

C&C again? That was nice :D

I didn't like the battle damage that I gave him when I first got him, so I just put some paneling on him instead. This is my first detail work with small plasticard, and I'm highly pleased, though simple the project. I plan on doing it for all 4 of his arms maybe, as they're damaged too, and its not too great.

And I plan on adding some stuff to hold up the banner like my Standard Bearer.

And I picked up 4 Eldar Guardians and a Tactical Squad today.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2723.jpg

And the tac sprue was missing a bit of plastic...which will require a bit of filling..Oh well.

Dred is looking gret, noy just need the rivits I know its suck work but it will pay off very well with the finished model. Easy way to make simple rivits is to buy a leather hole punch with a veraible head. THe cost like 12 bucks. then just find the right setting and use sheet plactic and your done. Now lining them all up will be harder...

Oooh, Obsidian Fists, thats a good one. But I went with Black Fists because it was like Black Templar, and Crimson Fists mixed...but Obsidian is really really good....If I can come up with a symbol...

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/OBSIDIAN.jpg

That would be really easy, and quite good =-D Great! What do you think Falcon? And the rest of everyone else?

I've started on my next squad though, as I've been wanting to build something for a while. I'm going slow, so I can really add character to my models. I've started on the sergeant. I haven't chosen his arms, but I want him to have a power weapon.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2749.jpg

As you can see...hes just a pile o bitz. <_<

And since the squad will be focused around bolter weaponry, they will all have specially designed bolters. The one on the left needs some gap filling, and the one in the middle needs holes drilled into the barrel, but the one on the right is done.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2750.jpg

And if it stops raining, I'll walk down to Hobby Town to get some plasticard rods for rivets on my Dreadnought. :jaw:

And an update on the Sergeant...He Who Has Not Yet Been Named.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2751.jpg

Hes tacked onto the legs. And the stormbolter is a couple of pistols glued together.

And I have almost all of my fluff written out for my squads, only Gaia, Achilles, Heracles, and Erinyes are left. And I'm contemplating changing the chapter name to Obsidian Oracles or something like that. What do you think?

I like the Sarge well done.

As for the Bolters I like the 1st and 3rd but I have to ask how do you plan to have a marine use that unless you plan for it to just be slung? As for the 2nd just not feeling it. Doesn't feel like a supressor or silencer. If your going to make it as supressor you need you need to put a flared tip by cutting some rings or notchs into it. Look up a flash supressor on google and you will see what I mean. If you want to make it a silencer you need to fill the tip and make the hole smaller then normal this will make it look more like the thicker walls of a modern silencer.

As for the Name I like it alot better. How about Obsidian Prophets? Oracles just seems worng, if you go for Prophets your Chapter Master could be the Chapter Oracle.

Anyway keep up the great work, and RIVITS FOR THE RIVITS GOD!!!!!

I jumbled together another brother. He counts as having a normal bolter...I just needed to do something with his right arm..so he'll have a dead IG Joe at his feet.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2752.jpg

Not the greatest picture, but thats okay.

The 2nd gun isn't actually a silencer, or anything. Its just an extended barrel. Most of the silencers or things I see on bolter conversions, look really fat, and out of place. I just wanted a elongated barrel.

I think prophets is good too, I'm still thinking about it, because I want to be able to tie into the whole Greek Mythology thing, while also tieing into the arrow head thing.

Ahh, finally something sort of interesting to update with. Emphasize on the sort of. B)

After spending a nice portion of my gloomy evening talking to my girlfriend and brainstorming for the next dude. I finally figured it out..and spent not too much time on actually building him..what a disappointment.

After pulling the Grenade launcher off the other guy, I used the ammo drum for my bolter, which is my first bolter with a non-standard issue clip...finally. I think I'll have him kneeling.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2755.jpg

And the three of them...I don't know why I haven't started the legs yet...interesting.

Loving the work so far.

My chapter is a predesscor to the Imperial fists and its great to see more! :)

Obsidian fists does suit really well and love the colour scheme brother.

Keep up the good work :)

Thanks! Obsidian fists? Alright, thats another vote for them. For Dorn!

Looking great, love the comotrooper a must have as I have one with each of my dev squads and my command squad. Just seems to make feel right. One per squad seemed to much...

Whats a comotrooper? The guy with the antennae? Well, they're sternguard, so I figure they get the best equipment around.

These guys are generic. But they're both blood brothers.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/Shortsonfire82/IMG_2758.jpg

And this guy. I used plastic glue to melt plastic shavings on his mouth vent to cover up the Dark Angel symbol.
