Apothicary Dian, Druid of the Holly

Points: 120 points

Most of the Fox Claws greatests heros to date seem to have been forged from the hellfires of Talris. Dian was no exception to this. A man of unwavering loyalty to his brothers Apothicary Dian was responsible for not only gathering the geneseed of his fallen squad after they fell prey to Ork Burnaz but also for going out to collect the Geneseed that had been recovered by other apothecaries who had fallen in their duties. It is said that by the time Lugh called for a retreat Dian had managed to collect well over two thirds of the fallen brothers genetic material either though his own work or recovery of another apothecaries reductors. In many ways it was because of this near impossible achievement that the Fox Claws were able to replenish their numbers so quickly after that first conflict, since it is doubtful that their numbers would have ever recovered without such a large stock of geneseed to fall back on.

Because of his heroic actions Dian has been labeled by many of the younger brothers, and even a few of the older, as one of the great Heroes of the chapter. When Lugh began forming the Druidic circles the Apothicary was openly and unanimously chosen by his peers to lead the Druids of the Holly. Dian had little real desire for what he considered 'arbitrary exaltation' and made his case for several other brothers who he considered more fitting for the position than himself, but each of them refused instead insisting that the 'savior of the chapter' was the only one fit to lead them in their decisions. It eventually became clear that any further attempts to put off the appointment would do little mroe than create conflict within the chapter, leaving Dian with no other choice but to accept the appointment to leader of his Circle.

In the years since the Fox Claws were reborn Dian has made every effort to continue serving the chapter in the way he feels is best. In battle brothers will often fight more valiantly when he is around simply because they know that their Geneseed will live on, and they are usually right. Many Brothers have laid their lives down in defense of Dian already and some have even begun to hold him in higher regard than Lugh himself. Because of this Dian takes even greater pains to avoid any contact with those outside of his circle, a vital step to ensure the decisions of the Ri are respected without his own opinions causing doubt or dissent within the Chapter.

Protect the Geneseed:

Dian knows full well that the Geneseed is the most important thing to the chapter, even more important than his honor. It is far better for the chapter if he live at least long enough to get his precious cargo onto a thunderhawk where it can be extracted from the combat zone. Any time the unit to which Dian is attached comes under attack in either the Shooting or assault phase You may choose to have him leave the unit, moving 1D3" in the opposite direction from the attackers. A unit left in this way loses the 'Feel no Pain' special rule, but gains the 'Fearless' rule until the next turn since the brothers all know Dian and his mercy will be back to collect the legacy of the fallen.

You can probably get away with paying less points for this guy. he is esentialy like a master of the forge with an extra attack, but with the harness exchanged for a narcethium and without repairs, bolster, lord of the armory, or combat tactics but with scout and infiltrate. you could probly pull this guy off at 115 and no one would complain, 120 to be safe.

Side notes, the reductor has no rules so doenst need to be listed with wargear as it is just fluff.

The quick scan of your chapter fluff makes it sound like its kind of odd all your special characters have artifacer armor, which is kind of a big deal in how special/rare it is fluffwise

Well remember, Talris was a forge world, and Space marines are not the only ones who wear power armor. Fluff wise its a matter of 10th company found it and sent it back during pick ups, which kind of helps compensate for the fact that the Fox Claw (according to the fluff of the chapter which has a link to it) have fewer vehicles, dreads and the like.

Still I shall re-examine point cost, and probably give him a close combat weapon then. For some reason I thougtthat the Detractor could count as a close combat weapon.
