Space Wolf Thunderwolf cavalry, being unlisted, is clearly not allowed, nor is Canis the model. But my question is, can I do a Wolf Lord riding a thunderwolf mount? I wanted to ask before I go nuts trying to convert my wolf lord's mount for the contest.

Since single minis can't be mounted and Wolf Lord isn't in the Large Vehicle/Model category that should lead one to believe that it isn't allowed.

Ok Demoulius and Bloodriver:

Judges have talked it over and it is one of these issues that probably has not satisfactory answer.

So here for the first event we are still going to ask for the one group shot. If that means you can get 5, 10, 20 guys in a good single shot then great. If it means you have to take out a combat squad for the pic in the end then that maybe the best option for people.

So just go with the pics as detailed in the rules and if you can get 5, 10, 20 (whatever the normal squad size is) in that one shot then have at it. If not, then pick out a game legal 5 man squad and use that. Keep in mind you still have the "1 individual from the squad" close ups to include as well as part of the squad entry so even a 20 man squad shot that is a bit smaller can get some "ups" from the individual pic.

The exception to all this being Oblits which only come in squads of 3 and so we are okay with Oblit squads being submitted still.

This will all be placed on the 'review' list for the next time we run this so we can make tweaks as necessary.

Oh holy wielder of the mighty mackerel,

I've been having a think about what i could entere into the squad category. I have a techmarine and 4 servitors i want to strip and i think i could do them some justice - a game legal 5 man squad in codex Dark Angels. As far as i can assume, ponder etc i can't see a problem with this but thought i'd ask first. So is this ok?

Cheers,

Al

I would still like to know whether the judges want any sort of description or info on the model other than pics, category, and what it is in codex terms. ;)

I'm sure there are a lot of people in the same boat as you Shiodome. Maybe you could post two pictures: "here is what my mini looks like photographed by Golden Bolter rules, and here is what it REALLY looks like..."

As we always do around here we strive to make improvements to keep the fans happy within the limits of what we are doing.

So we are organizing a FAQ right now and will be amending the contest rules to reflect this.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE RULES AND THE FAQ ONCE IT IS POSTED. Particularly the photography sections as we have made some big changes there.

Feel free to continue making comments and suggestions though don't expect everything to be changed/adjusted and we probably won't make any more adjustments after the first week of this has gone past just to keep things on a even keel.

We'll also be locking down the RULES posts and splitting the comments off into their own thread shortly.

I've got a second question that I think is allowed but want to make sure. If I was to enter a squad of terminators from the Space Hulk set painted as Blood Angels, but with options not allowed by the Blood Angels codex, but allowed under the Space Wolves wolf guard entry, I just want to double check that if I make it clear what codex I am using that they would count as a legal squad.

Never entered a painting/modeling contest, I am excited about this!

I know that entries must be based on GW models, and that conversions are allowed. But can we use non-GW parts in those conversions, as long as the majority of the model is GW?

Not talking about anything major, something as simple as a head swap.

Well from a gaming rules stand point you couldn't do that for Blood Angels -- at least at a Tournament level. Swapping one Chapters rules for another cause it "looks cool" wouldn't fly in a tournament setting. However in terms of a painting contest the squad must be game legal, not necessarily tournament-game-legal if that makes sense.

Seems a bit gimmicky in the end to me but it's up to the judges in the end.

If you mean like using a Max-Mini or Hasslefree head then no. Parts need to be GW parts or something you scratch build. The issue gets to be where to do we draw the line. Heads are okay but guns aren't, other body parts are okay but heads aren't -- it just creates a situation that becomes a headache for everyone if we allow other manufacturers parts. So keep your parts GW and you'll be fine.

Only reason I asked is that Sergeant Gideon (thunder hammer + SS), Brother Claudio (lightening claws) and Brother Scipio (PF+SB, carving up the ground) are my favorite models and were next on my list to paint. I will just go for a legal squad from the blood angels codex instead.

Just thought of another thing. For the Vehicle/Large model catergory, can one enter a Dreadnought and a drop-pod as one entry? Or is that disallowed?

Perhaps as part of the base Hube, you could scratch build a drop pod door, or at least part of it to look like he is walking out/off of it.

Ok we've started to get some entries in.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE FOLLOWING THE PICTURE INSTRUCTIONS AS DETAILED IN THE RULES!!!

It is very important that you submit the right number of pictures and at the correct size (no bigger than 800x600). I don't want to have to email everyone entering to reshoot their pics and you don't want us being the ones to resize/crop your pictures if they are too big.

The exception to all this being Oblits which only come in squads of 3 and so we are okay with Oblit squads being submitted still.

ok i have one small gripe, my BT squads can be odd numbers not im multiples of 5, i have like 8 man squads so what should i do about them if i want to enter?

I have a question which I hope won't result in a Mackerelling.

I am planning on entering a Blood Angels Apothecary / Corbulo conversion I am working on. However, the model is mounted on a 40mm round base (terminator size). As BA Special Characters are usually on the smaller bases I was just wondering whether this could be considered an 'appropriate gaming base'.

Sorry if this repeats anything obvious, and Hi everyone, pleasure to join the forum!
