"The most recent created chapter of the Pax Ferrus treaty, the Steel Disciples are loyal to the Imperium, but most of all to the Ad Mech itself. Holding firm to a belief in the Omnissiah that is filled with ritual, dogma and theological views. The chapter are warrior monks who spend equal time in theological studies of the Machine God and in the midst of war. Their techmarines are well respected and revered within the chapter, spending more time learning the martian ways then any other techmarines in the chapters of the adeptus astartes."

A
t the waning of the 39th millenium, the Imperium of mankind saw no end to the threats to its borders. The Chaos traitors and their ruinous powers continued to spew forth from the Eye of Terror, Xenos continued to press the boundaries of the Imperium. The High Lords of Terra once again called for a new Founding of Adeptus Astares. It was during this time, the Steel Disciples were created.

Born from the Geneseed of Ferrus Manus, they would be trained by the Children of Eternity. Though reclusive and highly enigmatic, the Children were one of the oldest chapters in the successors of Ferrus Manus. A Fourth Founding chapter, they had a long rollcall of glory in battle, most often in protecting forgeworlds and Ad Mechnanicum interests.

What the High Lords of Terra did not know was the Children of Eternity swore an oath of protectorate to the Forgeworlds and Imperial Citizens of the Altruia Sector from which their homeworld resides. Since then, the Children of Eternity have expanded their roles to outlying systems and made oaths of fealty to the Ad Mechanicum at large, notably those found in the norther borders of the Ultima Segmentum.
Twice before the Children were commissioned to bare successor chapters. The Scions of the Infinite in the 35th millenium who patrolled the Segementum Pacificus, and the Sons of Idaeon, born in the 37th millenium who resided in the Segementum Tempestus. High ranking officials on Terra believe this unsual honor granted to the Children, who were themselves created well after the Second Founding was due to Ad Mech influence. Unoffically acknowledged, it was due to the chapter's unquestionable loyalty in the Emperor, regardless of how they perceived his divinty, that allowed the Children to continue on and be a parent chapter to so many.

Chapter Master Ramulos Tol along with Chief Librarian Erasmus met with a council of Arch Magos from several systems. Archmagos ______ of the children's own Altruia sector, Archmagos Galvaram of the Sypphon system, Archmagos Janos of the Ecora sector and Magos Bruhm, representative of the Archmagos on Mars. During this meeting, it was determind the Children would once again bequeeth a new successor. While the Scions of the Infinite were tasked with gathering knowledge of the STC's and theories of the Omnissiast Prophecies, the new chapter would be the epitome of ritual and Omnissiac dogma. They were tasked to not only defend the Imperium of Man, but find the connection of man and machine, Emperor and Primarch, and find the true cohesion of the human spirit and machine spirit as separate but one.
Man was a thinking machine, his thoughts based on both emotion and rational. Many times, the hubris of man allowed his emotions to get the better of his mental capacities, as what was the case in the Horus Heresy. The Machine thought on an empirical date filled platform, unable to fathom both emotion or rational, for it solely was a mind of mechanical data output. The Ad Mech believed a connection must be made, for the Omnissiah was the creator of all in existence. Surely there must be a bridge between the two minds.

Master ___ ____ of the Children's 5th company would become the first Chapter Master for the nascent Steel Disciples.

Within the first 500 years of creation, the chapter was to have a major setback. The Steel Disciples homeworld of _____ was destroyed by (TAU). Leaving the Fortress Citadel barely defended, the ___ easily took control. By the time the distress beacon was recieved by the chapter's ships scattered throughout the segmentum, it was too late. Upon arriving back to ____, all that was found was a world wiped of life. A charred ball of rock, bombed to such utter destruction, that nothing could be salvaged.

The Chapter's fleet docked with one another above their former world and all the astartes were to meet on the chapter's flagship, the battle barge _____. It was here that Chapter Master ____ addressed his men. It was decided that the chapter would stay fleet based until a suitable world can be found. Once adopted, the new homeworld would always be heavily fortified. ____ declared that each Order will be split in half, forming two brotherhoods per Order. At any given time, one order would stay behind in monastic studies and prayer, while the other brotherhood would crusade and make war for the Machine God. The two brotherhoods of each Order would rotate in their duties, so their duties in both prayer and war would not weaken.

After several decades as a fleet based chapter, the Disciples came upon the world of Irkaeos. The world was a quiet, arid world with religious nomads who deeply venerated the Emperor of Mankind. Unbeknowest to the inhabitants, the world was named after ___ Irkaeos, Captain of the ____ 11th Company during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. He died fighting the traitor legions and this world was at some point dedicated in his name.

The chapter immediately settled in the northeastern region of a craggy mountain range. Overseeing the future Citadel was a sea of desert dunes with blistering winds. The nomads made way to the semi constructed citadel and it was from these religious desert dwellers that the next cadres of initiates would be conceived from.

The Steel Disciples are warrior monks, spending equal time in prayer and warfare. They follow the spiritual views of the Machine God of their parent chapter the Children of Eternity. Divergence lies in the Disciples being very ritualistic and dogmatic in their approach to the Machine God. While the Children maintain a Zealous spirituality to the All Machine, the Disciples are staunchly religious and theological.

They maintain that the Omnissiast views during the Moirae Schism several thousand years before their creation are a foundational creed amongst the chapter. Thus they are highly dogmatic and ritualistic in their approach to the Omnissiah, more akin to the Tech Priests of the Ad Mech then their brothers in the Children of Eternity.

It is because of this belief, the Disciples' Techmarines spend far greater time under Ad Mech tutelage then any other astartes chapter in the Imperium. Within the Steel Disciples, the techmarines are known as _____.

The chapter follows the Codex Astartes with slight variations. Each company is known as an Order and if further broken down into two brotherhoods. After the destruction of _____, the Steel Disciples leave one brotherhood of each Order to stay behind to defend the homeworld and spend time in monastic studies of the Omnissiah, while the other brotherhoods fight and crusade. Each Order maintains its own equipment and marines and each order makes sure both brotherhoods equally rotate between defending Irkaeos and capaigning for the Imperium of Mankind. If calls for large campaigns is ordered, the chapter makes sure at least three brotherhoods (The equivalent of 150 astartes) are left to defend the homeworld.

Each Order is run by a Master, the equivalent of a Company Captain. The Reclusiarchy of the Steel Disciples is unique in comparison to other chapters. Like the Order, the Reclusiarchy is also split.

The Chaplains of the chapter are known as ____, and look after the spiritual wellbeing of their brothers. Trained as both Chaplain and minimalist techmarine in one, they somewhat resemble the role of the Iron Father of the Iron Hands. The Chaplains are held in high respect amongst the Orders. Many times the Chaplains act as commanding officers, leading the charge against the enemies of the Emperor.

The techmarines of the chapter are known as ___Sages, and look after the spiritual wellbeing of all machine spirits within the chapter. The chapter's techmarines spend far more time studying under the techpriests of the Ad Mechanicum than any other astartes chapter. They are both well respected by astartes and the Ad Mech alike.

Unlike traditional techmarines, the ____Sages of the Steel Disciples accompany their battle brothers into battle, overseeing the care of the machine spirits in the chapter's Rhinos, Land Raiders, and Land Speeders as well as fighting alongside their brothers. The chapter holds three times as many techmarines then other astartes chapters and they are utilized in each brotherhood and squad.

The Librarium of the chapter is small but still highly respected. The psyker gene is a mystery to Mankind, ans the Disciples believe that it can open the gateway to the merging and man and machine as the ultimate in Omnissiac perfection and design. The Librarium hold a basic understanding of technology and work closely with both sects of the Reclusiarchy. The three groups represent a trinity of Mind, Spirit and Machine as one. Only through the three merging as one someday, can the Omnissiah's plan be truly understood and revealed.

The Steel Disciples descend from Primarch Ferrus Manus through their parent chapter, The Children of Eternity.
