Heck yea dude that stormhawk cockpit looks mean as hell! It’s all working so far for sure. If you didn’t put the wind msg in the reg spot where are you thinking?

thanks.

I was initally thinking about putting the twin heavy bolters on them, but decided I wanted to go with a "Mounted machine gun on helicopter" look.

The side turrets really take away a great detail of the model and thats the built in door, that for some reason is not used with any current configuration.

If I do decide to install the wings on the turbines, I think I might do the front smaller wings, instead of the large ones.

I am unapologetically stealing both the cockpit and the repulsor plating.  Super cool looking.  Two thumbs up!

I go the idea from Wispy, he did this super cool stormfang with I think plastic card inlayed and painted black for a solid, meaner looking cockpit.

check his out to, I think his might be easier and cheaper to make, and i think his looks more brutal! AS I have had to do a ton of cutting and now I have to go back and putty the gaps

Thanks mate, it's just next level epic and really has me thinking of doing all my wulfen like him since it really makes him bulky and powerful!

Ya, I was considering converting all of my reivers to look like Half wulfen marines who specialize in terror tactics. but decided, it might be cooler to have a Reiver character who is slowly turning into a wulfen, but still uses the reiver tactics.

If you look at my bloodclaws, most of them have wulfen arms. =)

Grieux I'll get the pics up later today. I really like the model, I set it up so it looks like he's falling with his grav chute to an unsuspecting target.

-------------------

So this is something I've talked about on here a few times, but with the Stalker Packs I decided to just use it.

Updating my Wolves:

Background:

The Jackal Wolves. They are an odd company of misanthropes, loners, tricksters, and troublemakers. The company is unlike the others, it can be called upon by any other great company on a whim. and must honor that company's request, how they honor that request is up to the Jackal wolves. Their command structure, or lack there of, helps make This fleet company so effective. The most experienced wolf in this company is technically Lukas the Trickster, and this company was formed after him, and his antics. Some Wolves say it was a punishment to Lukas, others say it was a quick way for Lords to shift the tactics of their 'new' brothers away from them, others still, wanted to explore tactics that most wolves otherwise look down on. As a result this company has a loose command structure, Every brother and unit can make a decision on the company's or their own actions on each specific field they operate on. As a result the highest rank in this chapter is a Wolf Guard Battle Leader or then occasional Rune Priest on a vision quest, but these tend to be a wolf guard who has last all his company, one whom has taken the path of the lone wolf. Yet the individual with the most experience is actually Lukas. Their fleet is the Nomad Wolf, Stalker Pattern. Constantly splitting apart or reforming, going to various theaters requested or not.

The Jackal Wolves specialize in Disruption tactics, they go behind enemy lines, alter intelligence, orders, and in general cause Mayhem and terror in the enemy troops and supply chain.

so a quick wip on my lore

JACKAL WOLVES

"DO YOU KNOW WHY WE CALL YOU THAT?

BECAUSE YOU REMIND US OF BAD DAYS AND BLACK DEEDS. YOU DO NOT LISTEN. YOU DO NOT HEED YOUR BETTERS. YOU SNAP AT THEM INSTEAD. THE WAY WE ONCE DID BEFORE RUSS TOOK US IN HAND. THE JACKAL WOLVES OF ANCIENT TERRA, FIGHTING FOR SCRAPS,

OUR NAME WAS A JOKE. THE ROUTE. IT IS A JOKE. AN INSULT. THE TERM FOR A PACK OF JACKALS, OR THE PARIAH DOGS THAT HAUNTED THE DRY SEAS OF TERRA. WE WERE BEASTS IN DAYS AND NAMED FOR BEASTS. THAT WAS THE BEGINNING OF OUR STORY THE NAMES WE BEAR ARE SAGAS IN AND OF THEMSELVES. LINKS IN A CHAIN STRETCHING BACK UNTIL THE OPENING OF THE WOLF'S EYE.

WE ARE STORIES JACKAL WOLF. WE ARE SAGAS UNWRITTEN.

IT IS OUR DUTY TO PLAY OUR PARTS THE ALLFATHER HAS FOR US.

EVEN YOU HAVE YOUR PART TO PLAY.

NOW YOU DO THE SAME.

JACKAL WOLF.

YOU ARE TO MAKE THAT INSULT OF A NAME. THAT JOKE, YOURS.

AND FORGE INTO INTO A WORTHY SAGA ."  - Wolf Lord Kjarl Grimblood

The Jackal Wolves.

An Irregular Great company within the space wolves, similar in role to a reserve company within a standard Astartes Chapter. THey however, lack any Jarl, or Chapter master. Instead They are governed on a multitude of principles. THey can be called on by ANY Space Wolf Great company, and their successors; to an extent. Then the Jackal Wolves will deploy what they deem, an appropriate amount of resources towards that theater, and their goals. Often times ignoring specific requests, and honoring the requested support. It is how they honor the Support that is so different.

Each Squad within the Irregular company will and determine How and when they will respond and to what. Then Each squad leader will meet with their fellow squad leaders and further determine their course of action, before deploying.

Iconography:

The Jackal Wolves use the Heresy Era VOID WOLF iconography as their Company symbol.

Space wolf deviations

Squad Leaders will sometimes choose  adopt the 30k Era “ Legion Consul “ colors, and mantel.

A clean aesthetic, while they do not follow the Ancient Consul rights, they view it as a mentorship position. If a Wolf is  troublesome or is found guilty of Crimes against the legion, so long as it isn’t treason, they are surrendered to the Jackal Wolves Consuls. Where they take them into their squad and mentor them. Help them understand their own talents, and how they can best be used to assist the Wolves. But it is in what falls under “Troublesome”, the weak, the strange, the miscreant, the joker, the cursed, the bad wyrd, the unwanted. While some of the Jarls used the Jackal wolves as a dumping ground for any they deemed as ill fitting for their company, some blood claws requested to join the Jackal Wolves and were repaid with mockery by their brothers.

Lukas thought it appropriate, to take the Consul’s mantel and turn it from its ugly past. Where they would give the emperor's peace to those they found wanting, now instead, they were in their charge, to mentor them, to help them find the path, their wyrd. And in time, those mentored would dawn the mantel for a time.

As a result, The Jackalwolves have an Inordinate amount of Bloodclaws, Wulfen, Reivers, and Scouts, Fenrisian Wolves. Due to the Consul Mentor ship that is within the company there are Few Lone Wolves, as they are often given the Task of teaching how, why, they survived to the blood claws and their fellow Wolf.

Tactics:

Unconventional warfare, misinformation, attrition specialists. Lukas puts surviving to fight another day, if possible, as the top priority for members of the Jackalwolves. In general they specialize operating behind enemies lines, Destroying, stopping, or rerouting supply convoys, misinformation campaigns, altering of said orders to send troops and supplies to obscure safe outposts, infiltration of atmosphere generators and making the climates more “hospitable” and friendly to the wolves. They also specialize in being “bait” for the other Great companies. THey would play the wounded prey running for safety, all the while leading their enemies into the maw of the wolf.

Notable events:

  • World______ TIME__________

The jackal wolves tasked with assisting Bran redmaw in dealing with a Heretic Guard cult that was on the verge of overtaking the planet. Would routinely sneak into medium sized enemy outposts and quietly disappear everyone inside it. Then they would clean the kitchens and take the belongings and burn it all some miles from the camp. And then submit a falsified report requesting a “new garrison” of guard come to this brand new outpost. THis went on for some time before the replacements stopped arriving.

------------

slowly writing stuff and rewriting to suite my taste. but atm, I really like the idea of a "irregular  reserve company" that assists all the other great companies and operate unconventionally.

thoughts on my "reserve" company so far?

I will also be finishing up some stuff and getting it primed and waiting for ETL

A Stormfang gunship with the Stormhawk fighter's armored cockpit? Interesting conversion. I would advise moving or outright removing the canards, as they get in the heavy bolters' field-of-fire.

I dont think I'll move em. They are quite low, as compared to the bolters.

I did it to help balance the model, as the width, visually, is now similar to the back end.

If the heavy bolters had more vertical movement on the original model, i would do as you suggest. but on the fang the seem to be front firing/45degree horizontal agjustments.

thanks for the wiki link! I didn't know these were called canards, fun reading. :)
