vahouth Posted August 1, 2010 Author Share Posted August 1, 2010 Thanx Midnight! I started the yellow with a black undercoat. Iyanden Darksun basecoat followed by Gryphonne Sepia wash. Clean the Iyanden Darksun again. Drybrush Bleached bone. Highlight with skull white. Dilluted yellow ink 1:1 with water. And finally skull white dots here and there as extreme highlights. I'm really trying my best. :P @Jorre I made the lightning effect with a hair (a really kind contribution of my wife). I've coated the hair with superglue 2 or 3 times. Carefully rinse it in water to solidify quickly. Then cut it in a few pieces, glue it on the palm of the hand and paint it. Keep in mind that the lightning is thinner and more delicate IRL. It's been a few months since I last updated this thread and that's mainly because real life gets in the way :tu: So after I've moved in to my new home and the birth of my son (WIP picture will follow in the near future), I've finally found some time to continue painting my BA force. I also really liked the way you did the two-tone on the jump packs for the captain and priest, I may have to borrow that. I was just painting a sergeant's power sword last night, after seeing this I may have to go take another stab at it. I am doing mine from the AoBR captain wich I got from a freind of mine, but I was also Thinking about kitbashing him. B) @Midnight Runner Glad you like them mate. :) As for the weathering on the Dreadnought, I feel that I should thank Ancient God, for his weathering technique. That's what I used even if I haven' had the same result (yet). ;) @Shatter Yeap, that's freehand alright and what a pain too. I've found that a multi-curved surface is not the best for freehand, but I'm pleased with the result. I know that each Company's heraldry is the Captain's heraldry, so I wanted to show that either by sculpting or painting. As you can see I chose second. :) @Red Fury The lightning effect on the sword and claws is my interpretation of the one in our Codex. It's not perfect but I'm still working on it. :) As for the Jump Packs, I don't own the patent so... why not, be my guest. :D @Cpt. As one of the Blooded, your input here is from the heart for sure:) To be honest, I wouldn't do that because I don't think that Characters carry only what you see in some pictures. Look at Sicarius. His wargear varied from single lightning Claw, to twin lightning claws, to AoBR Captain, to the recent one with his unique sword and plasma pistol. Also I know many believe that Aphael is in that picture in our dex, but IMHO I think it's just another random picture to fill a gap. As for the hair of our Captain... I know that he won't be blonde for sure (It's a stereotype that I don't like), I'm a Blood Quest fan :drool: . I would probably go for grey or even white hair, so that I will show his age and experience. And that will be the case for every HQ in my army. @gabrionus1 Thanks man, glad you like them.
