Hello everyone!

I decided to rush things up since we'll have a local fair in two weeks time and I need to have something painted till then. :o

So, for today there is a small WIP progress in the agenda, the rest of the squad just after the boring stuff (first coats, cleaning etc)

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/3538/asm21.jpg

And first 5 ASMs with yellow helmets done after the boring stuff.

http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/3448/asm22.jpg

Also I'm working the Jump packed Chaplain at the same time.

To be continued... :)

take this advice from me m8. dont rush your paintjob.

do's:

spend more time on painting

dont's:

rush paintjobs.

youll hate yourself afterwards if your anything like me :(

unless your good at rushing and the paintjob comes out at witrh the same quality in which case go for it :tu:

btw, whats that terrain behind your minis? looks like the trenches from forgeworld :wallbash:

Thanks for the feedback guys!

@olita23q

For the effect on the power weapons I used a guide found in of of the WDs (I can't remember which now)

but I will do a tutorial probably starting with the dual-clawed sgt.

@Demoulius

Sorry man, I think what I said was a little vague...

I would never sacrifice quallity over quantity.

I will just contribute more hours for painting time. :)

Good evening everyone!

I just remembered that I've made a crude tutorial for the lightning arc on the Librarian, for whom ever is interested. :)

First of all, you'll need a hair!

Glue the 2 ends on something (I used 2 bottlecups) so that you can stretch it and be able to work with it.

Then apply several coats of superglue to give it some thickness and make it more solid.

You can speed up the process by dipping the superglued hair in water.

When it stron enough do the following:

*First of all, cut 5 pieces roughly 2" inches long and glue them on the fingers of the model. (FIGURE 1)

http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/6835/lightningtutorial1.jpg

*Then snap each piece creating a zig-zag pattern. (FIGURE 2)

http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/4859/lightningtutorial2.jpg

*Glue those pieces together making a branch-like patern, even trying twisting them making a point on the other end. (FIGURE 3)

http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5360/lightningtutorial3.jpg

*Add a few more shorter pieces to the mix. (FIGURE 4)

http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/244/lightningtutorial4.jpg

*Finally when you manage to make a lightning pattern apply for a last time supergue focusing primarily on the edges.

Hopefully it will strengthen enough, so that it will be less likelly to break.

And that's pretty much it.

Then the final result will resemble this:

http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/725/lib1.jpg

Keep in mind though that it is somewhat fragile and requires a bit more care when handling.

After all it's simple hair. ;)

Thanks lads, glad you like them!

The lightning claws are from the assault termies box.

I cut them on the elbows and repositioned them a bit. Also I don't know if you noticed but I painted every left claw or power fist black.

That's how I saw it in the Codex, but I'm not sure if there's a reason for it...

Btw, I'm looking forward to seeing your lightning pattern Midnight. :)

btw, whats that terrain behind your minis? looks like the trenches from forgeworld :P

LOL!

I my mind is wandering off mate, I forgot to answer that, sorry... ^_^

The Terrain behind the models is a trench system and colapsed banker by ZITERDES.

Hi guys!

So, after a loooong time, I finally desided to show you my latest work.

I'll have to admit though that I've somewhat neglected my "still" WIP 7th Squad, but it was for a good reason.

So for now, here is a small WIP of the project I've been working on these days

http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/4666/p1230223.jpg

http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/1241/p1230224.jpg

At some point later today, I'll post a few more shots of my nearly complete Assault squad

and what I've already finished on my Blood Angels armada.

I've come into this topic a little late but i'd just like to say all these models are ace. Really good effort on all and a real sense of continuity throughout all the models, and i love that you've done the fleet to. Attention to detail is for winners. Keep up the excellent work.

Thanks guys!

@ Demoulius

I got those Thunderhawks from FW, but their bases were not included :D so I had to by those from the GW site.

As for the update...at last I finished the power weapon tutorial,

so here is how it goes:

1. I basecoated the blades with Regal blue and washed them with Badab black

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4135/16634943.jpg

2. Once dry, I made a lightning pattern with pure Regal Blue.

http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/6950/70996182.jpg

3. I continued with a 1:1 mix of Regal Blue + Ultramarines Blue.

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/3952/50896672.jpg

4. Then Pure Ultramarines Blue.

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/5743/90131625.jpg

5. Then a 1:1 mix of Ultramarines Blue + Ice Blue.

http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/579/83163162.jpg

6. Then Pure Ice Blue concentrating on the edges.

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/9113/93196832.jpg

7. Then Pure Skull White again concentrating on the edges of the blade and the pattern.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/7565/28363284.jpg

At this point the blade already looks great and you can stop here.

I added however another step:

8. Glaze the whole blade with a 3:1 Diluted Skull white, which blends the colors and gives a haze effect on the blade.

http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4540/70915702.jpg

The final result is this:

http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/8817/lc1u.jpg

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/3461/lc2m.jpg

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/6845/lc3u.jpg

Thanks for watching!
