Space Marine Painter Update

Recommended Posts

<laughs>Crazyfrog you have failed to read my replies to all your messages telling you about the release date ... and you have been a bit rude about Mad Scuzzys artwork (I do the programming not the artwork you see).

I suggest you learn to read the replies appearing beneath your posts and if you offer criticism learn that on this forum it must be constructive and if possible try and offer help and advice about improvements.

For the last time .. two weeks roughly till the painters are released and the wargear add-on two months following that.

Poor Argos, at least I read it. Although I cant wait 2 weeks!

Scuzzy, Argos, great work. One day would we maybe be seeing some more Imperial and Enemy force painters in the future?

@ Firenze : Yes ... lots more stuff .. check the bottom of this post ...

@ Ferrus Manus : Yes the Scout Painter will be "pre-released" at the same time as the other painters ... as a matter of fact ALL the painters will get a new version at the same time.

@ husi2100 : 2 Weeks till the painters ... more than 2 months till the wargear .. and that includes the Mk4 armour. I am using the Mk4 armour to test how the new wargear will work which is why you get to see it now .. its my testing piece. I am trying to streamline the runtime for the Wargear as it takes a lot of cpu time and memory, I have the basic painter down to painting and shading in 0.44 seconds and the wargear is nearby at 0.56 seconds, both are significantly reduced from the original test times a month ago when they were over 1 second each.

@ Vodunius : Different images / figures show different things, to be honest I went for the simplest (a flat pad) ... however as it is wargear there is no reason why we cannot add different (possibly more accurate) pads later as long as we get the artwork.

To give you a glimpse of two more painters due for "pre-release" in a couple of weeks ... I present the Nid Painter and the Imperial Guard Painter ... both use the new engine I developed to do sme quite sophisticated overlays and shadings .. way more than the original painter engine could do.

nidtest.jpgigtest.jpgigtest2.jpgigtest3.jpg

You may or may not notice the Nid painter has "Camo Spots" and the Imperial Guard painter has a real camo scheme colourable with up to 3 colours. In addition the nid painter has a "highlight" on the top of its carapace, this overlays and blends the carapace colour (unlike the camo which just overlays). With this improvement the shading engine now supports traditional shading (darkening / shadows) as well as highlights (lightening) ... which means we can in theory start to advise people which colour "triad" they should use to achieve the colour schemes they want.

Oh there is also another recognition painter I haven't finished yet ... you WILL have to wait to see that one .. not too difficult to work out as we now have almost all 40k armies covered.

I was gonna ask if you could do a guard painter ^_^

Very nice work. The Nid painter is very pretty.

Scuzzy, a little note, artist to artist, I looked at the IG boots and yours look a little thin. This could just be me being picky...

Argos, i know wits mad scuzzy's work, but why are you posting the pictures, why not madscuzzy?

The artwork is Madscuzzy's work, the painters themselves are Brother Argos' work. What Argos has posted is from the painters not the pre-painter artwork.

Besides they are a team.
