Well it had to be done....

New project time!!

Been given a commission to do a Khorne termi force based around the Space Wolf list.............couldn't really refuse a chance like that could i? :-P


With the new SW mini's having a nice chaos feel to them I'm gonna be using them as a basis for the conversions (along with Forgeworld, chaos termi, loyalist termi bits along with anything else that's to hand)

So time to break out the red paint and green stuff and get making :-

here's the list im working to
Logan
WGP (7) - Pair WC x4, TH+SS x2, HF+PF
LRC - MM, Extra Armour

Arjac Rockfist
WGP(7) - TH+SS x2, Combi - Melta +PW x4, SB+Frost Blade
LRC - MM, EA

Rune Priest - SB

WGP(5) - SB+CML+PF, SB+Frost Blade, SB+PW x3

WGP (5) AS ABOVE

WGP (5) - AC+PF, TH+SS, Combi-Flamer+PW x3


Got a few done already, so lets start at the top.


Obviously this one's based on Lord Z from FW with an added cloak from the SW termi box just to tie him in with the rest of the force.

I added the a pair of horns and a couple of skulls to the back of the cloak to chaos it up a bit. Still not sure if i should go back and paint something on the back of the cloak quite happy with the leather look it has and don't want to over crowd it ???

Other than that he's pretty standard.

Its the one from the new Space Wolf termis set. Had to use some green stuff to stretch it a bit to fit over lord Z's shoulders, and then added some horns and skulls

its tamiya clear red, magic stuff mix a little black in with it and it even looks like clotted blood :-)

cheers as soon as I saw the new sculpts I thought chaos conversion time! There so much better looking than the "proper" chaos termi's :-)

again based on a SW termi with the wolf bits chopped back and a few chaos'y bit added going with a bone theme to complement the animal/wolf theme

You asked for more so here you go.....

Another wolf claw termi. Wanted to have some sense of movement in this one so attached the chains and bits to follow the sweep of the claws hopefully achieved that??

This is a very cool idea, and I have to say I'm impressed with what you've done so far. The Khorne 'graffiti' on the armour is a really nice personal touch. It's also given me a few ideas for a Lord Zhufor conversion I'm planning to do later in the year as well. I'll definately be watching this thread

btw how do you the red, i'm trying to find a good way for mine and yours is bril!

got to admit i wasn't as blown away with Lord Z as i though i would be i think its a little to busy on the detail also if i were redoing him I'd have his head facing the other way to show the khorne tattoo/scar thing as it looks better that way

red is :-

red spray paint I'm using hycote red primer i.e. this one works great :-

heavy dev mud wash dry it with hair dryer (stops it pooling and sometimes going misty)
heavy baal red wash (hair dryer again)
red wash/dry again for a nice deep red
highlight with blood red
extreme highlight with solar orange


and as a extra treat here's the last of the finished one's (was also the test mini)







and all 4 together (couldn't resist)

Can you think of a GW paint (or mix of GW paints) that could be used instead of the red spray? What with my age and location i may struggle to get stuff like that...

yea scab red, or (foundation) mechrite red but if you can get it the the red spray will REALLY speed things up plus that one in the link is cheaper than most other under coat sprays and I think gets a much smoother finish (you should be able to get a simular one from any car spares shop they usually have loads of colours as well so you can get just the right shade just remember to get one for plastic)

Cheers, i just had the best history idea for my red wolves (if you've read emperors mercy you know what im on about towards the end, could also work for the above dudes)- space wolves great comapny gets stranded after followinf in russ's steps and going into the eye of terror, the slowly become influenced by chaos without realizing it and may or may not become the Blood Ghorgons...

got another 2 termis done also I've added a army list to the first post


in an attempt to get the first squad done (lord Z is a count as Logan) here's the 3rd wolf claw termi

particularly happy with the free hand on this one...









and for the double post award here's the first thunder hammer storm shield termi


tried to make some blood drip's on the mace/hammer but not sure if I'm happy with the results

The detail is great and the blood effect is very realistic.
The first model is almost Blanchitsu.

Back again this time with the last 2 mini's for this squad

First off we have a second TH SS termi swapped the back of the hammer for the head of a flagellants flail and lengthened the claws on the SS along with adding a couple of spikes here and there









and for the last member we have another wolf claw termi

a bita kit bashing and a few spike's plus some blood and there you go instant Khorne :-P










I ended up repainting the face on Lord Z and one of the FW heads really wasn't happy with them also was asked to tone down the Khorne symbol here's the results much better I think
