As i said in the first post (i think :S) I've loved the Blood Angels since reading the first White Dwarf i ever read, and always liked them since, but i hate the colour scheme they have. It also gives me the choices in how to paint the models, i.e. the librarian only having 1 blue shoulder pad as opposed to being all blue. End of the day, I'm able to field the Special Characters if i want, tho I probably would attempt to make my own conversions first - if i was to that is. I've also, in the last half hour or so, started to spray paint the second drop pod i have. I've cheated by my own standard, but i'm going to make it rather obvious that one is the normal chapter use (one already shown) and one is the Death Company's use, and therefore painted in a majority of black...but still has some red on it. Irabrai Posted April 30, 2010 Author Share Posted April 30, 2010 Progress at the moment has been slightly slow, possibly because I was unable to paint any models from Sunday to Wednesday (really) and then slacking off the past couple of days. Last Saturaday - with some friends I went to London for the Salute event, and I did manage to get some more models recently - mainly a squad of terminators (illegally weaponed i might add...but combined with the rest i'll be ok), some Forge World bits, (Blood Angel Rhino/Land Raider Hatches + the weathering powders), as well as some of the old Metal Scouts (Much better than the plastic ones imo) as well as another boxed set of the Death Company. I've signed up to the latest Call of the Imperium (and I'll be using this as my WIP and linking it to the main topic for it), and I plan on getting the Scouts painted up (all metal, and all unpainted minatures) as well as the Terminators to which i have started, "painted" but being as they were bought on the cheap, are the wrong colour, and unfortunately super glued together (fyi, i'll be painting up 4 of the squad and using 2 of the AoBR Terminators to get up to the 6 man i pledged, and then getting 5 more Vanguard painted up as well to finish my pledge off. Also, theres the Scouts, theres 7 of them on the box (Death Company - to be used for the Vanguard) but they're not all for the vow. Irabrai Posted May 26, 2010 Author Share Posted May 26, 2010 Right, I've completed over 1/3 of my vow now, i've finished the vanguard, and i've made some progress in the scouts and terminators, tho i've concentrated on the Vanguard for now because i need them for a battle tomorrow, in which they face the ghouls of the Chaos Army... http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/146/b/4/Vanguard_Squad_by_Irabrai.jpg I had hoped to kit them out differently, but due to the points limit on the battle i didnt have enough points to afford the Vanguard guy with the Hand Flamer and the power fist, so instead of having one with a Thunder Hammer, having a Bolt Pistol and CCW. In the coming few weeks, i'll be concentrating on getting one of the terminators done (full 5 man squad, 2 of whome i did about a year ago and dont count against the vow) and then recommencing on the scouts. Back on Page one i showed a photo with some Band logos on, and i've got another one done - was bored of painting models and wanted to do something different, and here is the result. Right, i ORDER you to go out and purchase both Coat of Arms, and the Art of War - at least. I like the way the Blood Angels look, but I wanted to make the army my own so I would be free to play from the SM Codex, or the BA Codex if wish. I'm painting them to look the most similar to Flesh Tearers, but wanted to come up with my own name and logo. I had decided on Blood Guard. Then, yesterday a buddy of mine who plays Space Marines told me to go to this site, as he found your post with the same Chapter Name of Blood Guard. Only joking obviously. As long as the logo isnt the same as well you're free to have the name (btw, the logo im eventually gonna get round to painting getting transfers done for is from the Chronix Agression website - http://www.chronixradio.com/ - it is on the first page of the topic but just wanted to make sure. Good luck in your painting anyway, and the number 1 thing to remember is: You're painting YOUR models, do them how you want, do listen to anyone telling you "You should paint like this, not like that" but do listen to suggestions. I've been a very very naughty boy in that I havent really completed any of my Blood Guard bits - save for completing the Land Raider, painting up a Baal predator and (finally) getting around to painting up the Captains jump pack. And to make it worse the Fateweaver has been whispering in my ear and I've turned traitor (But dont worry, I'm still a practicing Blood Angel!). As I say, I've had a few battles with my Blood Guard, most notably in a 3v3 Space Marine v Traitor (before Tzeentch's whispers in my ear...As well as the majority of the guys i play with...), and with Chapter Master Pavi, Marneus Calgar and Ragnar Blackmane sent Khârn, Ahriman and Abaddon back to the warp in a nice long days battle of 2000 point a person book from the back of the Battle missions book. (Marneus killed Abaddon, Ragnar killed Ahriman and Pavi killed Khârn - unfortunately not in close combat but with a bolt pistol aimed at the head...:P) - Oh well, a kills a kill is it not? Had a few battles with them since then, but nothing of any real note...cant remember most tbh. (Oh dear) Except for this evening/yesterday. It was a 1v1 1000 point a person battle, Blood Guard versus the Ultramarine 4th company. It was a bit of a mix match up at the beginning of the battle, from what was visible at the beginning of the battle, it was a pair of Rhino's, a Razorback, Vindicator and a Land Raider Redeemer versus a solitary Dreadnought. http://img574.imageshack.us/img574/9605/starto.jpg http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8862/startdreadeyeview.jpg Despite setting up last, the Ultramarines stole the initiative, despite moving closer, and sending the Rhino's and Razorback behind the Cathedral, the only shooting was a miss with the vindicator, and the Land Raider's Multimelta failing to penetrate. Help for the outnumbered Dreadnought comes down from the strike cruisers above, with some Death Company and a Chaplain pouring out, hoping to melt the Vindicator from behind...yet being unable to hit at such short range. Yeah, there's truely brilliant terrain we have at the club, they've won trophies for the terrain they do, and the flames are brill. Just need a few more craters tbh. Natanael - Definately. Was a great shot but the Captain succommed to the Red Thirst in the middle of the battle, all his mates have died, hes left alone...*Sense* would have said to have charged into the tactical squad, wouldnt have been able to kill them all; having only got 4 attacks on the charge; take some out my combat, rest in his then i could move onto the next target in the next turn without having to worry about getting shot at. But O well. As my opponent was moving his Ultramarines back i was saying to Scott (the opponent) You know what the Captain is saying dont you? Amongst other things, I've fallen to Chaos (slightly) and have allied myself with Tzeentch. (What can I say, painting blue is fun compared to keep painting red...) I have kept busy painting my Blood Guard army up, but sometimes its slow, and at least now my Tzeetch army is over 1500 points I can return to my first love...The Blood Angels (and this army). As I say, the army has been increasing slowly, I just havent updated anything on here about it. It shall happen, in the near future tho, especially as i've got the following few days off due to easter. Mainly speaking, I've recently got the Furioso dread, and done it as a Librarian, which I've as recently as this morning finished. Also, I got the StormRaven...would be wrong not to imo. I've got alot more done, and will upload pictures when i've worked out whats new and whats not...sorry for that right now. However.
