dawn of war CR

hello brothers,

ive been playing chaos rising online for a while and noticed a rather odd trend. whenever an opponent is just about to kill one of my unit severe lack (on their part) kicks in and i cant make the unit retreat, no amount of pressing x seems to work and im forced to slowly see the unit die in the lag caused haze....

if it were an isolated incident it wouldnt be a problem but tonight ive had it in about 3 out of 5 or so games, kinda bizarre.

what makes me even more pissed off however is the last game i played. i had 2 good teammates (first time to) and we were heading for a solid victory. we still had 497 Vp left and they had 142 or so, we had all 3 VPS and all 3 had our armies intact while theirs were annihilated. suddenly 1 says something akin to "bad game, i hope version 2.2 is better"

and suddenly everyone drops and the game ends.

what

the

heck!

so they cant win and suddenly pull this off? what gives!

you misunderstand me brother, the unit doesent freeze, the game does. the screen freezes up because someone's lagging. the only times that they lag as well. big battles? sure! titanic conflicts with orbital bombardments? no problem! but early in the game my 2 tac squads and scout squad are walking along and a unit gets singled out. and i can then not issue orders for like 5 seconds because of "lag"? seems abit fishy to me. what im talking about is that it seems to be selective, whenever a unit is beeing singled out (commander for example, or scouts as my earlier example) the game suddenly lags up and i cant do anything to prevent their death....

i often see the whole thing coming and i do get caught of guard but the whole "lag" thing, if its even lag prevents me from doing anything about it. its frustrating!

the reason i think this is cheating is this: in halo 3 (and in other online games as well im sure) there's a certain way to cause beneficial lag using a "lag button" basicly it cuts off your internet connection for a split second and then reastbalishes it. the game detects your connection is gone for a split second and causes lag in the game (dont ask me how, it just does, unless i misunderstood it) but the player using the button isent effected, giving him a split second to get a clear kill.

and please dont get me wrong here guys, im not whining over this. i get beaten all the time, but id like it to be my own (and my opponents) skill to be reason in this and not some strange lag issue.

so uh, to get all my rambling over: does anyone else experience this kind of stuff? lag at the most horrible inmaginable times?

also does someone know how i can post a replay on the internet? i want to post the movie about the other issue on the relic forums to see what the mods have to say about it.

Aaahh the infamous lag switch. I don't know if it actually exists tbh, as I play online shooters too and it always gets mentioned but no one can explain to me how they manage to activate it. I "think" its someone who has a crappy bandwith and its the server allowing them to catch up. The lag will happen occasionally but you will only notice it when something critical is happening.

well critical is a hard word, but in halo the effect was certainly noticable...you run at them with a shotty, they see you, lag kicks in and you drop dead, kicked from behind while they were in front of you  that kinda antics. as to how it works? i dont know, someone tried to explain it but coulnt explain all the tech words....basicly they take advantage that the servers allow the people with crappy connections to catch up. they can create this effect somehow without suffering from its effects themselves...or so he said, i dont know...

different from the dow issue but the result is the same... dont want to go so far as to call people cheaters but the selective lag is.....odd :(

but as to the othter question, noone knows where my replay file is located?

For Halo all you had to do was unplug your Ethernet cable while you killed your target.

hmm i see. guess the person was just making up conspiracy theories then, and in my annoyence of the lag i dident think to the fact that he may have been fabricating his facts....

well this topic can be closed and thrown in the trashbin i guess...even if people used such a mechanic, at the end of the day its still just a game. if i get upset and throw a hissy fit over every time someone lags and it gives me misfortune i would have long since been dragged off and put in a straightjacket <_<

i was abit upset with the game and a friend reminded me of the lag switch, and the conspiracy theory just naturally came after that

and i already found the replay folder myself as well, took me about 30 seconds to find it after activly searching, inmagine that  gonna see if i can post this on the relic forums (after asking if they even look into that kinda stuff or its not a known bug or something)

cheers for listening guys,

and sorry for venting, il do it someplace else next time; thats a promise!
