@ Loken86 - cheers mate, the skeleton from Vork'ash came from the Vampire counts skeleton boxset! Also a nod to Dan the Deamon, whos got some awesome Night Lord termis with skeleton detail on too ;)

@ nurglez - lol yeah, Kai's floor is a bit unforgiving if ya drop something on it (my poor havoc champion :( ) I've actually never painted much at all for a long time, so these termis are gonna be a real test :)

Speaking of painting, undercoating is about to commence :D

@ nurglez - thats the only piece of cover they had :-p

Small update... paint is being applied to these bad boys as we speak & I shall be positng up sum pix in a day or so! Gotta couple of questions for now...

Do you guys reckon a Purple Cloak will look right on Rackstrum?? (he has the mark of slaanesh)

Also with Bruticus' cloak, I'm looking to have the inside & outside different colours - Black & Red... should i do the inside red & outside black or inside black & out side red??

Either a Dark Purple or a Dark Blue.

I'd say Red on the outside and Dark Red on the inside.

Call of Chaos IV - MAY, UPDATE #2

Here are a couple of "painting in progress" pix of Rackstrum & co! They have all been undercoated with Chaos black, then had their armour painted Boltgun Metal followed by a wash of Badab black then re-applied Boltgun Metal! (sorry about the poor pic quality, was in a bit of a rush taking pix)

Group Shot

As you can see the arms are a bit further along than the main bodies, they have had the black & bronze sections base coated.

I've also experimented a bit with the power weapon blades, really happy with the effect, basically Boltgun metal with a few washes of blue. As well as trying out a scorched effect on the Heavy Flamer muzzle using brown wash & chaos black!

Close up of the Power Weapon Blade (the bolter should be black btw, damn lighting)

@ Brother Nihm - Thanx for your feed back brother, on Bruticus' cloak I've decided to go for dark red (plus some chaos detail) on the outside & black on the inside! & Rackstrum's cloak will be a nice deep purple!

This maybe my last CoC IV update for a good few weeks, as I'm going to Australia next week for 3 weeks! & I'm pretty busy sorting out other stuff + still gotta pack... However I will be straight back on to painting these guys when i get back! ^_^

Badab black truly is like magic. I'm not sure what GW sacrificed to the warp to make the new washes but I'm so glad they did!

Might want to give the blade a slight highlight with ice blue or something and then another layer of wash to really drive home the point that it isn't just blue-tinted steel, but otherwise I think it's looking very good. :)

Indeed, I've found all of the GW washes I've used to be very effective, infact my joke with the members of my local gaming group is that they should be called 'instant awesome'! :D

The Boltgun Metal/Badab Black combo works perfectly for Iron Warriors, these are off to a great start Vlâdvar, looking forward to more painting from you! ;)

Cheers for the comments guys!! Sorry its been a while since I last graced the WIP section, I am still on holiday & havn't had much of a chance to log on! been away for 2 weeks now in Australia & i've still gotta another week to go! Rest assured I shall be returning to painting my termis once i get back home & u can expect a few updated b4 the end of June! Also as you can see from the painting in progress pictures, I was trying to batch paint these guys, but doin all their armours' trim in 1 go is gonna be so teadious... so I've decided to finish them 1 at a time instead!

One question I've got though, is what colour should I paint their bases? I was thinking a martian red or sand (keeping in mind that 1 of the guys is gonna have a red cloack & I don't wanna have grey bases as this would clash too much with their armour!) what do you guys think??

Hi Folks,

Vladvar, please go on with your work. I only registered for this thread, cause i'm looking forward to see some more great pictures of your work and to encourage you to go on. I got here in search for some inspiration for my own IW Army i'm planning atm and bookmarked it instantly.

Looking forward to see some more great conversions.

And before I forget, I especially like your former Apothecary Idea, because IW and their bionics just need someone to install them on the marines and take off some legs and arms and so on. Would you mind to tell us some of your Ideas for the fluff of your army?

Greetings from Germany

Hey dude, hows the painting coming on? hope you still aren't jet lagged <_<

In regards to base colour, that i have no idea, but what ever colour you do paint it, be sure to add a few random bits of colour to them, like a blood angel's helmet or weird rock's

I would decide what the story is for the army. Are they attacking something at this moment in time that you captured them in? Maybe an ashen black .....they are siege specialists....and I would assume they have already pummeled the ground with weeks of shelling and bombardment. PLus...the silver will stand out on the black base.

maybe black with a light drybrush of Adeptus Battlegrey..and then a light drybrush of codex grey.

@ K_Oz - sorry for the lack of updates dude, I was on holiday for 3 weeks & this past week i've not had any time to work on them... do not fear though, as I will be gettin back in to painting these guys 2moro nite! Yeah I will also write sum fluff at some point too!

@ nurglez - aye, i'm still abit jet lagged & these week has been a bit of a blur

@ WolfLordKejl - thats a cool idea, although not too sure about the black, as I'm worried it might make the over all model abit too dark!

I dont know where I saw it, but I discovered a great base idea due to my researches.

It was some kind of rocky terrain with lava between the rocks while the guys stand on these rocks with even some blobs in the lava. Great work, but hard to do for such a big amount of bases. The base of a Defiler-Knight even had an Ultramarine sinking and melting in the lava. If someone is interested I research again and post a link.

If you go with a little less effort you could perhaps use a street or runway theme. Dark grey to black base with some fallen over road signs, skid marks, border stones, road blocks, vehicle parts and so on. Thats what I have in mind for my bases.

And I think it goes straight with the fluff of a siege army, attacking an enemy city or space port.

Hope you like it and sorry for my english grammar, I'm a bit rusty.

Cheers for the sugestions K_Oz, not not sure on the lava as I have already made their bases, but the runway bit sounds kinda cool!

Call of Chaos IV - JUNE, UPDATE #1

Well here it is finally an update, althought its a pretty small as I've been so damn busy, its been hard to get on with these guys, anyways, heres a pic of Bruticus's cloak! Now these is the 1st time I've paint cloth or fur (propperly that is) I'm really happy with the nice deep red & dark contrast of the cloak, the inside will be black!

looking good, though a little bit too clean for my liking (yes, blame my nurgle fixation if you must), assuming you are going to add some dirt to this cloak, and some scoring around the holes :)
