Ater taking a year out due to a very busy life... taking part in 2 great exhibitions, getting a new job and moving home (for the 7th time in 3 years). I have decided to get back in the swing of things by taking part in throne of Skulls in March. Now my Warlord for ToS is gonna be none other than Vlad himself

Some of you might remember this concept sketch I did of the big man a couple of years ago

Parts - FW Lord Zurfor Torso, Legs & arms; FW Legion tank crew Mohawk head; Centurion Sensor array, WH Chaos lord of Manticore sword and chain cloak; WH chaos knight shoulder pads. Also some FW Raven Guard bits for the dead marine on his base.

I need to fill out the shoulder pads, sculpt a bit more to the cloak and sculpt some IW icons :-)

No back shot I'm afraid yet, as I only took a mock up picture of the front d'oh! Don't worry I will post a pic soon, but it di require a lot of trimming. However it does look awesome

Anyway I've not posted any more update pix as of yet as I want to get everything built & green stuffed in one go and then batch paint everything.

Slaughterfiend - Helbrute (Some of you guys might remember this from my IW Allies blog... really glad that the GW events team said I can use him as a Helbrute with Multi-Melta )

By the way if you guys are wondering whats happened to my Allies Blog, I've decided to work on My IWs since the release of the 6th ed rules. I might end up collating everything into one blog, as now some of models from my allies are now gonna be played using CSM dex rules rather than from the CD or DE dexes.

Progress on my Throne of Skulls force is going at a steady pace, pretty much built everything, just need to do a bit of gap filling and sculpting. Then on to the task of painting everything. This is a fairly big update with various WIP shots (sorry for poor quality pics, phone camera is rubbish), so with out further-a-do

 

Here is another WIP shot of Warmsith Vlâdvar - added exhausts from a Warpsmith & sensor array from a centurion. Also here is a re-view for The_Chaplain of how the Chaos Lord chain cloak looks, not glued on just yet.

Next is a shot of my Heldrake or should I say Helbat - Dreadwing (anyone see the Transformers link?) basically the wings panels have been flipped around and on the opposite sides (left is right, right is left) shortened the neck, added a Forgefiend plasma cannon head with some "bat ears" wings are only blue-taced on until painted, legs to be added too.

Then we have the bikers - Kirzath's Outriders (left to right Karazack, Kirzath, Cypher) Used some raptor parts, SM Melta guns and added some plasticard scythes.

Thanks for the rear view! That chain cloak looks the business.  Also, I must congratulate you on the inspired use of the vengeance battery for the void shield generator; that was a very good idea and you executed it perfectly!

I actually feel slightly bad for not commenting after your last update, because the converted Terminators you posted before your hiatus were a HUGE inspiration for me, back when I trawled the forums and boards for pictures to inspire my own conversions. It's great to see that you are now returning with some new stuff, and I hadn't even seen your allies thread before: Those daemon engines and Dark Mech inspired thralls and ogryns are just as amazing! Fantastic work!

 

As for your most recent update, the Lord really has an immensely brooding and powerful look to him, and that chain cloak is always a brilliant addition! The other stuff is great too, especially the converted Nurgle champ.

 

I am very much looking forward to seeing more from you, and, like I said, super happy that you are updating this thread again! :)

I haven’t updated this blog in a long while and I’ve realised that its missing a lot of material from the run up to last years Throne of Skulls and the post ToS news. I must admit I didn’t really have a huge amount of time to do updates before hand considering I spent most of my free time building and painting. Needless to say I didn’t get everything finished (too slow), but it was all game legal at least.

I had a blast at ToS with my mates Kai, Janus (Nurglez), Ed and Jonny, as well as Insane Psychopath and the fellas from Squid Badgers. I’m pretty happy with my result finishing 5th best Chaos Marine player with 2 victories; 1 against Blood Angels with an Imperial Knight (that I blew up) and melted most of his marines with my Heldrake. Another win against the second best Ork player who had a stompa that I took down to less than half hull points. I won thanks to a plucky Cultist holding the final objective. I also had 3 defeats against Tyranids, Nurgle Daemons and Tau. I did however win a 3rd game over the weekend when I beat Ed’s Dark Angels and Vlad blew up his Knight!

I will post all the pictures soon of the WIP work and some gaming pics, but for now here are some pictures of Vladvar (who is still only base coated, he will get finished after the Lamenters).

I fear I might be sounding like a broken record, echoing what I remarked in February 2014, but this is easily one of the most inspiring CM threads (and one of my main inspirations when I got back into the hobby). Again, I hope you'll be updating more often from now on!

 

Vladvar is getting better and better -- and the component overview is extremely helpful, to say the least.

 

Insane Psychopath and you really have the IW angle covered on this board, haven't you? ;)

Noone said this yet, so I'll add that it's the little details like skulpting the miniature's skull symbols into the Iron Warriors logo that really make this miniature pop

Looking cool Vladvar.  Are you still going to paint the Marine on the base as a Blood Angel?

 

Throne of Skulls March last year was a great weekend of gaming & just be that Warhammer World.  Hopeful get a game next time with IW v IW's. 

Also how the maulerfiend model getting on, thank again for idea/talk about the model over on facebook.  Like wise any new units your planning on adding?  One thing I would suggest is a Knight model, I think you can do a really great conversion & I think you'll enjoy building/painting the model.
