Fallen Angels battlefield spottings against the following..

Thudo

Recommended Posts

To all Fallen Angels TT/codec gurus..

I need the following spotting scripts written when a Fallen Angels Marine squad spots the following for the first time on the battlefield. Two scripts written for each is needed..

Alpha Legion

Black Legion

Night Lords

Red Corsairs

Word Bearers

Blood Ravens

Crimson Fists

Imperial Fists

Iron Hands

Raven Guard

Red Scorpions

Salamanders

Catachan

Last Chancers/13th Penal Legion

Tanith First & Only (Gaunt's Ghosts)

So as an example.. when Fallen Angels spots against the following on the battlefield they would say:

Dark Angels

You are not my brother

Liar, traitor, coward, betrayer of Caliban

Death Guard

Rotting aberrations! Twisted mistakes of the hateful universe!

No ritual can cleanse your spirit now, Death Guard

Vostroyans

Brave Vostroyans, there are no such things as saints

Abandon your false religion, brave vostroyans

All your help is most appreciated!

What? That makes no sense then why do Dark Angels try to go and capture the Fallen? Also, the above is meant for a RTS project we're developing for so Dark Angel marines need to have some intel on the enemy they will fight so they would be informed how to make a "battlefield comment" about the foe they are to fight about. I would understand an Imperial Guardsmen not understanding what is what but Marines are generally far more smarter and hooked in via technology to know what they see on the battlefield and to comment about it back to Command.

It doesn't matter how much "far more smarter" a Marine is if he's dealing with something for which he has no frame of reference. Their knowledge of threats doesn't come from being "hooked in via technology" so much as it does from psychodoctrination, decades of service, and the experience of Brothers and commanders around the individual Marine.

A Fallen would, depending on exactly how his wargear appears, seem to be either a lone Loyalist inexplicably out on his own or a thrice-damned Traitor who needs to be extinguished. There's no reason at all, with all the secrecy that the sons of the Lion maintain, for those outside of the former Legion and its successors to know anything about the secret shame that the Unforgiven bear.

As for the attempt to capture them... The Dark Angels' inner circle seeks to capture, interrogate, and purify the Fallen because they sided with Luther during the events that lead to the destruction of Caliban. They are considered traitors of the highest degree, turning their backs upon Brother, Chapter, and Primarch and choosing instead to follow in the bitter acrimony of their erstwhile leader. Now, scattered across the galaxy, they present an enormous challenge because they hold the truth about what happened and are not bound to silence, unlike the Deathwing and Ravenwing. Any one of the Fallen, should he be heeded, could show just how the Dark Angels have shirked their duty to the Imperium in favor of their personal crusade.

Perhaps you should research the topic somewhat before continuing with this project, since it seems like you have a poor grasp of even the basics of Astartes operations, let alone their history.

Yeah this is getting silly.. this is for a game and the game mechanic requires a spotting feature when Fallen Angels spots something on the field for the first time. You have to put spottings in the context of the RTS game mechanic which requires the Tier1 infantry, being Fallen Angel Marines in this case, to offer a comment on the enemy before them. They have to say something. Surely they must even if they cannot identify the target.

Also, surely a standard Fallen Angels marine would clearly say something as they fully understand the colours and markings of a Dark Angels Marine before them? Dark Angels are, after all, the Fallen's chief nemesis.

I think you guys are misreading the intention of the original post. I believe what Thudo is askiing is what a Fallen squad will say when first encountering an enemy unit, not what other units would say when encountering the Fallen.

Thanks Viray.. although it goes both ways as you'll notice in the other Astartes forums here that I've asked the same question. Black Templars has responded super-quickly and finished the list yet I am getting some serious flack from Fallen and Space Wolves over something pretty trivial and taken totally out of context (this is for a PC game modification so we have some voice standards to adhere too). Apart from Necrons and Tyranids that would make SoundFX, all other War40k factions including even Legion of the Damned can say something even if lacking much dialogue. The Fallen, however, are not "grammatically-challenged" compared to Necrons or Tyranids so there is no excuse to use their brains to say something.

Well it will depend on whether the Fallen is a Chaos Marine or not, remember they were cast across time and space. For some Caliban was just a moment ago. As for Loyal Marines and what they'll reply, it would be the same as to any Chaos Marine or Traitor. I stand by my original statement ... No one outside of the Inner Circle is going to recognize the Fallen for what they are.

Then assume based on our existing spottings I posted as examples in the first post that it is the most learned of the Fallen who will make the comments when Dark Angels marines are found on the battlefield.

What Ecritter means is that only the Inner Circle of rhe Dark Angels will recognize the Fallen when the First Legion spots them. However, that is not to say the Fallen, who are, of course, Dark Angels and are undeniably privy to the events on Caliban, will not recognize the Dark Angels.

Yes.. And thats what we're scripting here for.. :) Its the Fallen acknowledging Dark Angels on the battlefield.. thats what this thread is about.

Why not ask the Dark Angels? Who the Fallen basically are.

Also, considering the variety of perspectives which might possibly be embraced by the Fallen, I think you need slightly more detail on their character.

For spottings you don't need too many varied perspectives although there are Loyalist, Chaos, and Merc. I would probably make it half Loyalist and Chaos.

Maybe I should post all the existing Fallen Angels spottings we've done so people can see how we've done the older spottings.

This comes off a bit harsh, after all, the old saying "beggars can't be choosers" does apply here. You are asking people to volunteer this information to you and you haven't even given anyone a website or background on your project, then you seem to be annoyed that people are giving you their - lore based - opinions rather than simply giving you the information you asked for.

As for OT - I agree with Ecritter and if you have the option to do it yourself, you might as well do it right and don't break the fluff down.

Any other Astartes who was not of the Inner Circle would not identify a member of the Fallen, even those brothers from rank and file Dark Angels and successors. I think you would be more true to lore if you used some generic Chaos spotting script - maybe with a slight modification, as the Astartes may take note to their pre-heresy Dark Angel battle armor. Otherwise, I think they would see them simply as yet another renegade -perhaps with an edge of confusion, like:

"You wear the plate of ancient Angel, what trickery is this?!?"

But you are asking for when Fallen Angels see others, so I a suppose in this case the above is moot. I think these could actually be very interesting. Remember, the Fallen did not simply turn to Chaos, and their loyalty to such would be up to interpretation. I feel that some Fallen may see other members of the Imperium and go as far as sounding regretful...

For instance, if they saw an Imperial Fist, a first founding chapter, it may spark some ancient nostalgic memory in which they might even still show some respect for their "enemy" -

Imperial Fists

Ah, the Fists of Dorn. An unwavering foe.

Or on the other hand, as you noted with Deathguard, they would show disdain for other traitors -

Black Legion

You will never be my ally, scourge of the Imperium!

Of course, some Fallen, as noted, may be more Chaos tainted than others, so I suppose you could still see them using more generic scripts that other Chaos marines might use as well.

Yeah now you see the dilemma that is the Fallen... they can be all over the map. Some go more SM while others go Chaos, some go for a mix adding Mercenaries.

However what you wrote for the Fallen above spotting against Imperial Fists and Black Legion are precisely what we're looking for: something which transcends many aspects of the Fallen **BUT** nothing too specific, perhaps even generic.

Look at these Fallen Angel spottings one of our writers scripted awhile ago.. See a pattern?

Black Templars

Ah, here are our zealous brothers, the proud sons of Dorn

Misguided fanaticism, Templars

Blood Angels

The ways of the Blood Angels are ever mysterious to us

The Primarchs were a scourge of Mankind, even honorable Sanguinius [pronounced "Sang-win-ee-us"]

The Descendants of Sanguinius approach

Dark Angels

You are not my brother

Liar, traitor, coward, betrayer of Caliban

The traitors are near, ready yourselves

These are NOT the true sons of the Lion, we are!

Fallen Angels

History repeats itself, a civil war within a civil war

We parted ways, ere not too long ago, brothers of Caliban

The pawns of chaos approach

Legion of the Damned

Tainted ones, fallen from the Emperor’s ideal

There are no such things as ghosts!

The dead are walking, ready yourself

Space Wolves/13th Company

Death to the mutant!

We will not suffer the fate of Magnus, Space Wolves

Russ's runts are near, prepare boltguns

UltraMarines

Can you truly not see past your dogma, Ultramarine?

The Heresy broke your greatness, sons of Guilliman [pronounced "Gill - i - man"]

White Scars

Step aside, horse masters

It was not so long ago that White Scar and Ravenwing fought side by side

Death Guard

Rotting aberrations! Twisted mistakes of the hateful universe!

No ritual can cleanse your spirit now, Death Guard

Emperors Children

This is no perfection, perverted Emperor’s Child

Flesh worshipping degenerates

Iron Warriors

Oathbreakers! Bitter betrayers of the Emperor!

Is there truly no spark of loyalty left in you, fallen Iron Warrior?

Thousand Sons

Daemonform witch-sorcerers

The stigma of soul taint has always been in the Thousand Sons

World Eaters

Angron’s marines have truly turned into madmen

These bloody madmen are irredeemable

The Emperor fought religion with tooth and nail and you repay him thus!

Mark my words, the universe is better rid of your false gods

Death Korps of Kreig

Have you forgotten everything the Emperor taught, fanatic?

The abomination of the Replicae has come again

Elysians

This is what has become of the Emperor’s servants. Rogues and bandits

The Imperium sends drop-troops, prepare to repel

Mordians

Blind discipline is a boot stamping on the face of humanity, forever

Iron Guard, we’ve heard much of the oppression in the hives of Mordia

Praetorian

The henchmen of corrupt nobles and bureaucrats, Praetorians

Not enough for you to oppress your slave labor on praetorian?

Steel Legions

The Imperium sends armor against us

The Imperial Truth is not so easily crushed beneath armored treads

Tallarns

How easily men are made into fools and fanatics

Religion poisons your soul

Vahallans

Vahallan tunnel rats…here!

The few must die that mankind will have a future

Vostroyans

Brave Vostroyans, there are no such things as saints

Abandon your false religion, brave vostroyans

Pretty generic? Thats what we're looking for.. something that follows that pattern for the final spottings we need **BUT** adds a small hint of 'Fallen flavour'.

I suppose we have come to the same conclusion.

One thing to add a little flavor -

White Scars

It was not so long ago that White Scar and Ravenwing fought side by side

In Tales of Heresy there is a DA short story (Call of the Lion) that notes Chapter Commander Belath as being part of the Order of the Raven's Wing. When I read that, I assumed that was the term in which the modern Ravenwing get their name (though perhaps both were used).

Perhaps a Fallen would use that archaic term, as he would be from that era, in spotting a White Scar.

Whatever works.. I depend on Fallen players to script something relevant but also generic so we don't get brain cancer trying to figure out all the possibilities.

This forum isn't really intended for finding other people to do your work for you, as we so often tell people who come here with their Chapter writeups. What we excel at is deconstructing ideas, checking for veracity, and helping people to polish what they've created.

I still think that these threads probably ought to be moved to Other Games and merged so that they're not spammed across the entire site. It's not even a question of fluff, since you've admitted that you're compromising certain elements just to make them fit into the structure of an RTS.

Thats called "adaption" for anything. ie. Novels -> Movies. If the thread gets moved to the other section then it becomes outside the influence and sight of those who are likely qualified to respond to it.

Other SM factions apart from Dark Angels don't have an issue with writing the spottings but then again the Fallen are a complex bunch. However, I gave additional examples above of other Fallen spottings so hope that helps spur some final writings then we're done. This is, after all, a community endeavour as its never been done anywhere before: a Fallen Angels PC project.

Once again, I feel you are being a little harsh in you assessments. Just because this is a "community project" doesn't mean that anyone is obligated to help. Yes, I see that you have gotten a lot of feedback from other faction's forums, good for you. Like i said already, perhaps if people had any idea what you need these for, they would be more inclined to help (perhaps we Dark Angel players are as secretive as chapter we represent, haha) Terrahawk noted "your forums" but I do not see a link to them.

And to defend Apothete's reasoning for moving this thread (not that any defense is needed), I believe he was referring to this thread not fitting into the Liber Astartes subforum first and foremost - as it clearly states that forum is for DIY chapter creation.
