Gresiloth Posted September 16, 2010 Author Share Posted September 16, 2010 How do you bend the wires, guitar wires or whatever they are, so smoothly? Bend it many times all along the wire? The trick is to bend it before you cut it to size (a longer strip is much easier to work with), then simply bend it around a round object such as a circular file. Once the initial bend is in it, cut the desired length. It's easy to adapt the curve by hand once it's in the rough shape. As for the armour recipe, it is VERY simple, and it doesn't use Rotting Flesh :D 1. Spray black. 2. Paint the armour Calthan Brown (foundation). 3. Paint Bleached Bone over this, strictly moving the brush DOWNWARDS only (or whichever direction the armour section happens to be facing; lengthways along an arm, for example). Cover most of the brown with these streaks, but leave some showing through if you like. 4. Lots of Devlan Mud. 5. Highlight with more Bleached Bone (optional, I often don't bother with this step) Lastly, I like to add streaks of Scorched Brown 'leaks' with a fine detail brush (again optional). That's it! The shoulder pads receive exactly the same treatment, but then they are glazed with watered down Camo Green. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Your GS is really well done, and blends perfectly into the feel of the army. As has been said before, frequently Nurgle GSing can be way over the top, but you've avoided that nicely. I agree, it is very easy to go overboard with Nurgle conversions and create really excessive piles of green stuff - I don't like that look either, and it's something I always try to avoid. Where are the heads from that you used on the oblitirators? There are perhaps just a few things I want to address - some of the boils look a bit too much like balls sitting on flesh, so need to enclose them a bit more, and also I'm concerned that their legs currently look a bit plain - do you think some boils or fleshy parts would improve them? An early plan I had was to replace some of the armoured feet with erupting flesh feet. In fact I might try doing that on the melta oblit, as his left foot could be sculpted quite nicely over the barrel! Also, I am having a bit of a dilemma about how to paint them. One thing I'm sure about is that they will NOT follow my standard colour scheme. The fluff makes it quite clear that they are basically 'hired guns' who don't conform to any particular legion, so my challenge is to paint them in colours that are complementary but distinct from my army. I'm currently thinking of going for a darker brown armour, maybe Scorched Brown layered with Vermin Brown, possibly with standard metal trim (rather than rust - but I will probably end up painting them rusty anyway), and for the flesh, I have some Tallarn Flesh foundation which I might apply Rotten Flesh to and then use some red and blue washes over the top (and perhaps even paint on some small blue veins). Wickedly nice and like the neck on him aswell and very sweet use of the exaust parts from the killakans... ;) usualy hate thous obliterator models to be honest.. but like yours allot!! cool look with the heavybolter too btw! sad myself that they dont have any "dakka weapons" :huh: but what the heck they have allot of other sweet stuff ;) and you use it well mate :o Cheers! p.s Id like to se them in the same coulors as your army to be honest! like more blessed ones ( cursed ) and warped in a way :wacko: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

On the first I've attempted to show rust streaks on the legs, I think it could be improved but I like the general look. I also went for glowing green eyes, but I'm not sure it worked too well. Although the photo doesn't show it well, the cloak of the second champ has been shaded with dark green. I think this was a tip in White Dwarf, and I really like how it works. Apart from that he's pretty straightforward. There may be some minor touch ups but I think they're pretty much done, I just need to add some static grass. Better than I could've done, haha. And you're right about shading the cloak with green too. Makes the red look a lot better. Looking forward to more!
