Models for Inquisitor Arbites?

Hi all,

I'm looking to start a small band of Arbites and was wondering if there are suitable sites for models/conversion pieces to make up the models.

I'm looking for Grenade Launchers, Riot Shields, Shotguns and Sniper Rifles in 54 mm scale and was curious as t if anyone else has stumbled across them in their travels. I know I can use Barbaretta's shield but for the others I'm stuck.

Cheers.

Are you just planning on building a team of standard carapace armoured, shot-gun wielding Arbitrators? Or are you going to explore some of the less well-known archetypes that are occasionally mentioned in codices and novels but which have never been turned into models? Personally I'd love to see the latter - maybe led by the Judge model, then maybe an undercover detective, a marksman, perhaps a verispex technician or a psi-investigator (seconded from the Adeptus Astra Telepathica). The other advantage to this course of action is that it opens up a whole lot more models that you can use to base your characters on - otherwise the Judge is the only Arbites model and you'll have a lot of converting to do to make up a whole team wearing similar armour...

Shotguns are pretty easy - Barbaretta has one, the Judge has another and there used to be another in one of the booster packs - you might be able to find it on eBay. Riot shields are pretty easy to make or, as you say, you could use Barbaretta's. Sniper rifles are pretty easy to convert - extending the barrel of a lasgun and adding a scope is probably the most common method. I've seen a few grenade launchers, but can't just think what parts they used - if you have a look through the threads in the Painting & Modelling sub-forum at The Conclave you should find plenty of ideas.

Also on the 'Clave is a list I maintain of resources for 54mm models - it's stickied in the Painting & Modelling sub-forum (I would post a link to the thread, but I'm at work so can't get to the site myself). However, most 1/32 or 54mm weapons made by other companies are far too small when compared to the 'heroic' proportions of the weapons in the GW range (but most 54mm character models from other companies work really well - it's just that their weapons are in proportion rather than being over-sized). On the other hand, GWs 28mm range is a pretty good source of weapons for 54mm models - they're so over-sized they can easily be converted to fit the larger scale, especially ork weapons which work perfectly with no conversion work necessary. Another option to look at for parts is the Arcadian Smugglers Ring - a trading site for 54mm parts (also linked to from the 54mm resources thread).

Hope that helps,

Dave

Cheers for the information.

I was planning on a team of specialists, with a suppression officer (brute with shield), marksman, techie (shotty), demolitions/MOE (grenade launcher and various explosives. I want each of them with their own personality and feel, as a unit of various backgrounds would have.

I hadn't considered a psychic officer, certainly interesting. I shall have to sit down with the rules again and plan out what sort of kit I'm looking for.

Thanks once again
