I'm constantly amazed by your output: if it isn't excellent Deathwing in one place, it's excellent Sang G in another. Great models given the treatment they deserve. A well considered muted colour scheme you've used that gives them a different feel and I'm glad to see the glowing lights and eye lenses on some.

Cheers

11 days to paint these?

How in the hell do you find the time and focus to plough your way through 25 minis at this standard of painting? It takes me that long just to paint two guys, I've got one who's been sat on my desk now since the beginning of the month. Still half completed. I'd love to have your free time / focus skills, maybe I'd get more of my own army painted up. Whats your secret?

10/10 on the army DezartFox, saw the WIP in the BA thread and followed it from day one. Keeping my eyes peeled for the next DezartFox Inc installment.

It's all about optimization and mastery of the basic techniques and colors. Nothing against DezartFox, but if you look at this army:

1. It's a tiny army, and it's uniform. 24 models, all identical armor/style, identical colors/patterning. This is an assembly-liner's wet dream.

2. His color scheme, and the application of that scheme, is simple, direct, and not at all subtle. He knows the look he wants and he achieves it in the fewest amount of steps possible, with as little effort as possible.

3. His models are not perfect. Now I do not mean this as an insult, simply that he doesn't paint each model to a competition standard. He doesn't look to achieve perfect blends in every little spot, nor is there flashy freehand or conversions everywhere. The colors are applied neatly and in such a way that there are contrasting elements to catch your eye and pop certain details out (red tabards, ivory wings, faces, glowing plasma vents). In such a way, while his models are not perfect, his army is (in a relative scale, of course).

While I am following Games Workshop's more traditional scheme for the Sanguinary Guard (albiet desaturated, with some variation, and a LOT more white wings...), I believe my methodology for painting the army are quite similar to DezartFox's. Where he uses washes, I used an airbrush with some washing for definition. My blends are not perfect, but for an army does it really matter? I will probably be done my 20 Sanguinary Guard in the time frame of 5-6 days (I'm 3 days in and all I have left is gems, bases, weapons, and wings), and I'm only squeezing in about 4-5 hours of painting a day (granted I did 12 the first day since it was Victoria day).
