Repentence Chapter? Chapter unnamed?

I know that almost everyone will say this can't happen, but because the DA are so secrative, and reading a few posts on the B&C, what if there was a chapter in the DA called something like the Repentece chapter or something like that. I don't know why this sticks to my head now. but it would be a DA chapter. What can I say, I love DA.

Now I had a thought maybe, just maybe that the Inner Circle dosn't kill all the Fallen. What about those that never really turned to Chaos, or have but have truelly turned 100% pure DA. I was thinking this would always be a waste of resources (damn Tyranid thinking LOL) and these Repented Fallen work for the Inner Circle to caputer more Fallen now. They could be something like the GK, where they exsist but nobody knows about them.

Maybe we can say that the DA were so desperate to caputer the Fallen that they needed new help and ways to captuer them. Maybe the Inner cirlce created a new chapter away from the DA, so it wouldn't look like they have any ties to the DA. Because theys guys were once Fallen they know all the tricks and would be able to caputer them.

Or and I know many hate the "caught in the warp time travel" say in the future, a great devistation happened to the DA, and only a few remained, so the DA had no choice to make a Repentent DA chapter and then got thrown back in time to current era?

Or how about the Reptatent Fallen got together over time, and for thier own survial, and still loyal to the Emperor and wanting to to his bidding, formed thier own chapter out on the fringes?

I don't know, I just like the idea, of a chapter with no name, or have Repentence in the name that are repenetent Fallen doing service for the emperor. So can you guys help me out in the fluff for making a new DA chapter?

What can I say, I am stuborn, and only want to use the DA codex. Unless someone else thinks I should be using Choas or SW or BA codex instead to bring out a better fluff army.

So please can you help me out here? I want to try and do something different, but not shure what would be accpetable fluff for a new DA chapter.

I started that when I wrote FALLEN here on the B&C but I looked back to the Campaign Codex covering the Eye of Terror campaign and one list in particular. the Lost and the Damned. It allowed a mixture of Marines (Elites) that were supported by IG, mutants, etc... (Troops).

For a Fallen Army (even Repentant ones known/unknown by the IC) numbers and equipment are a problem. These are marines who are familiar with equipment in the Chaos SM Codex but may have encountered the newer stuff and salvaged some pieces from the battlefield. But you still have the numbers issue. Probably there are no more than 2 squads active and scattered throughout the galaxy at the moment with however many more still to be deposited and those that had been captured already. Not enough to start a chapter with, but just enough to do something epic like a repentance crusade. These marines lived in a time of great heroes and can probably do some amazing things that are the stuffs of legends to the current marines. This can inspire others to follow them on their crusade. This opens a door for a second FOC to come in to be used in a game, most notably IG. (Though Pedro Kantor and two Sternguard Squads would seem to be a better fit in this case)

Otherwise try going smaller scale with the games. I tried battles with no more than 750pts that are great for a Pure-DA Fallen army or use the Kill-Team scenario from Battle Missions.

Fluff-wise, I think it is best to have the IC be ignorant of their existence. The gathering force I used was Cypher as he has a tendency to draw the Fallen to him, but when he does his disappearing act, there is nothing in the established canon that says anything about what happens to those left behind. This is how I got my Fallen Warband together. They are the remnants of a Cypher force but w/o Cypher. With no clear leadership, they would turn to the next able leader be it a Chaos-follower or a Lion-follower. Their will probably be a sundering of the two factions from each other but then you've got a loyalist faction that is off to make amends in its own way, by fighting for the Imperium though they are rogue agents.

Thanks GMB, how many would be in 2 squads? I am still trying to get use to the terminology, and after 10 years I still don't know what a squad is.

A chapter is 1000 marines correct? So a squad would be 10 SM and 10 squads make up a company? Am I getting this correct now?

So you say I should only have 2 squads then? That would basically be my 2 troop choices then. This is why I thought maybe there would be a new DA chapter of Reptetent Fallen so there could be more SM and be more fluffy than having say pure Fallen. So maybe a mixture of Fallen and DA working together.

I don't know, just trying to make ideas.

Thanks GMB, you gave me a lot to think about.

You are correct in that a Squad is 10 marines. Another idea of mine was the Saints of the Angels who were a DA-geneseed chapter that specifically did not abandon a campaign to follow a fallen and tries to work closely with the Inquisition to counteract the negative aspect of the DA and their quest for atonement. Perhaps we can go a similar way here.

I can see linking in a radical Inquisitor that found out about the Unforgiven's shame (through the repentant Fallen) he recruits them into his own quests against Chaos. As an Inquisitor, he was able to appropriate materials that were able to bring the Fallen Marines up to speed. In time as the Inquisitor got older and more powerful, he was able to redirect enough materials that the Fallen were able to start up a chapter of their own OUTSIDE of an established Founding. There eldest are the actual Fallen but the youngest are essentially pure marines with DA-geneseed.

Instead of an Inner Circle, they have an Outer Circle and as a fledgling chapter for the most part outside the dictates of the Administratum and Munitorium, they are relatively well hidden from the scrying of the Unforgiven and yet still able to operate as a chapter though with the Inquisitor helping them gain equipment through his ability to appropriate without question.

This might work out a little bit better as a more plausible method to how they came and it does borrow a little from the Consecrators though I seriously doubt the Consecrators are Fallen. If anything, I can see them being the Formal organization of the Knights of the Order created years ago here.

Those are both good ideas. Although having the Inquistion involved in DA affairs is heresy to me. Hard to imagine any DA or Fallen whether redeemed or not working with the Inquistion. But for the idea of fallen that still fight for the emperor is kinda cool, or did GW already do that with the creation of the Disciples of Caliban.

I mean they were created at the request of Grand Master Anaziel, and there mission is to hunt down Cyhper. Now I'm thinking that what better way to hunt a fallen is to use a fallen, espessially one that know cyhper or his plans. So how I look at it is the Disciples of Caliban were created using the highest pedigree gene-seed (what could be pure then an original member of the DA whos gene-seed was created from the Lion himself?) Additionally there color scheme is both DA green and Black (showing a mix between old and new). Also they are the only company to use there home planets name (If i were a DA i would be pretty pissed about using Caliban in my name. Knowing that the planet became home to tratior marines. Yet again so was the ROCK and they still use that.) This is all just a thought. Let me know what you think
