mughi3 Posted July 12, 2010 Share Posted July 12, 2010 I finallly got around to getting in some BFG since i re-based my GK strike cruisers. to make them a little more robust without needind a BB i got out my official gothic magazine article on =][= black ships. we decided to run them as standard GK cruisers without deployment restrictions. So i have 5 of them at 1,500 points VS my opponants craftworld eldar list of 2 wraithships 1 dragon ship flame of assuiyan void stalker He ended up using our other eldar players corsair ships as proxies We rolled up a random mission and got "bait" The eldar player chose to be the bait. random table side put the sun on one of the tables short edges. at first it was all chase. the eldar ship easily outran my cruisers. so i spread waves of thunderhawks and torpedos out to protect my flanks, forcing him to wait till turn 5 to bring in his reserves. By this point i had split my fleet into a group of 2 and a group of 3, he mistakenly split his fleet up sending most of it after my stronger group of 3 cruisers. his fire nearly crippled one but only did minor damage to a second. I made teh wraithships brace and did a minor point of damage but the real turn around was a couple lucky shots i put one into the VS and got a single crit....destoying his holo fields The dragonship took the rest of it scoring 3 criticals-X2 bridge smashed and also holofields destroyed. With his wraiths braced he did little more the next turn than do a drive by with the flame and then proceed to run for his life. choosing to not risk his ships without thier holofields. So it ended up being a very quick game. he made several tactical mistakes, the first of course beeing not choosing to target my 2 isolated ships. It looks like i will have to try another go to see how this fleet performs in protracted battles.
