Imperial Fists and Tablescapes/Terrain [updated: 6/12/17]

Recommended Posts

My word, they're...they're beautiful. Seriously, seriously awe-inspiring work. Best Fists I've ever seen, and I don't usually like the over-weathered look, so that's saying a lot.

Like others have said, this is a very impressive force. Your weathering to my mind is without peer. Extremely well done, and very effective. I really like your stance on the company insignia, and must admit I never noticed the tower on the terminators leg from the Index Astartes article. Your decal sheet looks very impressive, and there is a few ideas (and names) that I may shamelessly steel.

Overall, great work and hope to see many more! Love to see your take on a tank!

So, this is definately now a WIP thread. Mods, maybe move to the WIP forum?

Anyway, I've been fooling around with converted marine poses. Here's a nearly finished conversion of a battle brother walking with his weapon in 'stand-by' position.

Very nice, that is quite similar to many of the marines that I did as well...which also happen to be 5th Company IF Marines.

Compliments much obliged.

Hey RedFinger -- I checked your blog out -- those were really sweet conversions. I especially like the marine walking in a 'Alpharius-from-the-Legion-cover pose." P.S. you wouldn't happen to be GW employee, would you?

LOL, no I am not a GW employee, why do you ask?

As far as my SM conversions go, while I was working them I just tried to keep in my mind the theme "Bad A$$ Marines"...because after all, these 7ft giants of men are described in literature as being the baddest mo-fo's in the universe since Shaft! But GW dropped the ball, instead of giving us bad a$$, they gave us the space marine line dancers....lean to the left, lean to the right....

Hi all --

brief update here. I've been working on more re-posed marines for my two tactical squads which I want to finish before I do another round of batch painting which should finish my two tactical squads (?!). The results are below. I've added scrimshaw to the squad leaders and sergeants. I've also got pieces of bone and skeletal hands converted to stick onto random marines as well using the metal fastener like things from the scroll bits but, alas, I have no pictures of those here.

Those poses are fantastic. It's amazing mow much difference small, well-planned changes like that can make to model.

Also, I know this was like a year ago, but...

I can do a picture tutorial when I get the time, let me know.

...is there any way we can still take you up on this? I'd love to see how you do that weathering.

Hey Ghost -- yeah, I'd be happy to. It might take a bit, but expect one of my next 1-2 posts to do that. Wish me luck with my iPhone camera for that endeaver... :(

Been a loooong time since I've updated -- but the army has made a lot of progress. Here's a snapshot from some recent progress. More to come.

Veteran Sergeant Goethe, 5th Tactical Squad Irpa "the Hellsguard," V Company "Castle Breakers" -- Veteran Sergeant Goethe was forwarded from I Company to discipline Squad Irpa and teach tactical restraint following the death of Sergeant Nietzus in the Zarathustra Campaign.

Attained 7th order scrimshaw battle honors for actions during the Vernalis Campaign. Blessed with MKII armor elements in M41.989.

Sooo pretty, but with an undrilled bolter barrel *twitch, shudder, spasm*

That nervous tick aside, it really is an excellent paintjob :smile.:

I'll be drilling out the barrel when I do the bolters for the whole army in a few weeks :-) Currently all of these guys just holding thin air, minus the sergeants with bolt pistols, of course

I am not a battle damage fan....on any Imperials...I do like "dirty" models though esp. tanks and marine legs...

I really like your yellows though! Nicely done!
