THQ Inc. today announced that a second stand-alone expansion for its genre redefining real time strategy game, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2011.

Taking place years after the events in Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising, this title allows players to choose their perspective with the first multiple-race single player campaign in the Dawn of War II series. The first race to be revealed is the savage Orks, but no matter which race is chosen players will be taken on an epic journey through each story arc, revealing the answers to many questions left open in previous Dawn of War titles.

As well as the single player campaign, Retribution will feature new multiplayer units, maps and an entire new playable faction when it ships.

Jeff Lydell, Producer of Dawn of War II - Retribution commented: "We all love the Blood Ravens here at Relic Entertainment, but there are also a lot of fans of the other races and armies out there so we decided that Retribution should allow the player the freedom to experience the campaign from the perspective they select."

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II -- Retribution is scheduled to be released for Windows PC in the first quarter of 2011.

i was thinking maybe we'd get a chaos/SM campaign depending on your ending of your other game but i guess its too much to hope for as they sometimes need to give the lesser races a plug too.

We still might. The blurb implies several different racial choices and Space Marine or Chaos could still be an option. I just hope if it is, the Force Commander gets to speak. I just don't dig the silent protaganist anymore.

Is it just me... or do I see =][= coming? Look at the first I in Retribution...

Yup. There is no better retribution then an INQUISTORIAL RETRIBUTION!

I hope Mordechai Toth comes back and help Gabe in his fight against the EVUL Chapter Master...

They talk about continuing the story years later, and that Blood Ravens secrets will be revealed. I wonder if you'll still be able to import your characters from the first two campaigns, and the choices that occured in Chaos Rising. Or if particular events will be considered 'canon.'

Heck, they could be teasing us

That, or maybe they don't realize how analytical we are.

"Hey wouldnt it be cool to have a part of the Inquisition-style I in the title"

"Yeah that would be cool, but won't the gamers think Inquisition will be in there if we do that?"

"Nah I'm quite sure they wouldn't analyze with THAT much scrutiny."

Well, we sorta do...

look at 30 seconds in this trailer
their are imperial gaurdsmen agianst chaos and if you look at the top of the screen you see a requisition point which is not in campain or last stand and there are no randomized units in multiplayer so what else could it be?

That's probably a new Requisition point man, and Dawn of War 2 had already NPC Imperial Guardsmen and controled, that's not new.

Besides, the map is Angel Gate, where is the main place of the game to find Imperial Guardsmen in the game, it would not be surprising that they will fight at your side after what happened.

At about 24-26 seconds in you can see Imperial Guard and Blood Ravens fighting Chaos on the Angel Forge map. That map did have the victory point used to operate the main gate. They look like the standard Stormtroopers from the original game but it could mean anything at this point. Still a good find.

Think of it, they might add the Inquistion and the Imperial Guard, they did add two races in Dark Crusade and Soulstorm. Actually, Imperial Guardsmen could be "scouts, termagants, cultists" units, with Stormtroopers acting like a special unit, and GRey Knight being, of course, the main core of the army.

Yes. I think an inq faction with storm troopers & guardsmen on T1 with grey knights in T2 would work. Or possibly drop-able grey knights only available to one of the IG factions.

As a side note, check out http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php...age=1&pp=50 DowII hero defence, pretty cool & http://www.moddb.com/mods/omnibus a salamaders VS nids' mod, which is in progress.

i do hope i am wrong though cause i would do anything for the grey knights to be a race in its own. plus the style of DOWII fits GK's style via small elite squad. and i hope they expand last stand with even more levels and maps.

The Ordo Malleus sent us to aid you.

Now, NONE CAN STAND OUR BELIEVE IN GREY KNIGHTS AS A RTS ARMY!
