Gv0zD
I lost this thread for a while. the second plasma gunner looks a lot better....just need to cover up the hand grip on the top, smooth it out with some gs or something, and it's deffinatly there. ;) keep it up Thanks! I've been busy with my work lately, so the progress was damn slow. I've finally bought GS and the required tools, so I'm going to fix my existing guys and tweak their plasmaguns. Gv0zD
Hi everybody! It's been a long time since I posted updates to this thread. And I missed it. It's been more than half a years since I was here... Anyway, now that I have enough free time to continue my beloved hobby, I'll try to post updates on a regular basis. So, I already have some new stuff to show. These two guys are already posted in Blood Angels section, but I'll repost them here as well, so you could see them and comment. "It's time to reload!" http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7147/6815622477_34ce7d2b58_d.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6815622291_8d372a8fa7_d.jpg Here's the guy I'm currently working on: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7012/6815622621_7400124283_d.jpg He's the last of my tactical squad, and after he's finished I'm going to concentrate on my next project ;) It's my DIY Sanguinor. I wasn't able to buy the GW model in my local gamestore, so I decided to do it myself. I must admit, I'm not too fond of the GW version of Sanguinor. I wanted to have someone more knightly, not a mysterious angel, descending from the skies, but a proud and powerful Chapter's champion, the First Knight if you will ;) I always liked the guy on the cover of Codex: Black Templars, so I decided to make something similar. Here are the pics of my WIP DIY Sanguinor. I used the legs, torso, jump pack and head from Death Company box, while the hands and sword are from Vanguard VVeterans set (the relic blade). The Iron Halo is taken from Assault Terminators set - I don't know what is this item meant for, but I like how it looks :( As a result I got a dynamic and knighty guy with huge sword and all necessary Blood Angels decorations. And here it is: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7141/6821957997_894c4460bb_d.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7013/6821958441_ff623ab102_d.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7151/6821958181_d2c35c9192_d.jpg Stay tuned for more updates! ;) Thank you for reading this! And your C&C are always welcome  EDIT: Oh, and by the way, I'm using a new camera. Actually it's just new phone, but now it's Nokia Lumia 800 - it has 8 mp and if you compare new shots to the older ones, you'll see that the colors are not that sharp and the overall quality of the images is slightly better :)
Gv0zD
Hi everybody! After doing some research and figuring out my ideas I decided to make another Sanguinor conversion. I like my last attemp, but to be honest, it can not take the role of Sanguinor - he should be more epic and angelic :) So, the first thing that helped me figure out how I should build my DIY Sanguinor was the actual glaive polearm used in Middle ages. You may check it here. I thought that at least one of my Blood Angels should have the proper looking weapon. The second thing to make my mind was a character from Dark Souls videogame - Ornstein. I like his design a lot, and decided to make something similar for my army. So after butchering several Glaives Encarmine I finally had the satisfying result. And here it is: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7204/6857208109_1bd2786921_d.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7048/6857209687_f4923b2be7_d.jpg That's all for now. As always I welcome your comments and critique :) Cheers!

Gv0zD
Thanks man! It's good to see people enjoy this conversion :P Now I have to paint it accordingly... By the way, can anyone recommend a good way to paint gold armor? :D
AGPO
By far the simplest way to paint gold is to start with a base of scorched brown and then blend up to shining gold. Mix in a little mithril silver for the topmost highlights then give it all a wash of devlan mud to bring it together.
Gv0zD
Thanks for the advice! Sounds easy enough, I'll give it a try. I just want my models be a bit darker than plain gold, mybe with a bit if bronze highlight, if it makes sense :tu:
Gv0zD
Hi, everybody! Again, many days have passed since my last post here. But I spent those days not in vain. My painting progress is slow as never before because I switched to modelling and converting. For almost a year I tried to get models of Blood Angels HQ but there were none at my LGS. So finally, I decided to make them myself, the way I wanted them to be. I already posted my Sanguinor (however I intoroduced a few minor changes to improve him) and now I have done Astorath, Dante, Tycho and an unnamed Librarian. And I'm about to show them :D For these models I used bits from two great sets: Sanguinary Guard (HQ conversion kit :) ) and Grey Knights (Librarian conversion kit OR "a box with bits to make awesome power weapons"). This is Sanguinor (version 2.1). http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7207/6963861237_26beb105be_d.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7188/6817864742_c17ac30ac1_d.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7196/6963988587_57ddb2b8d0_d.jpg I cut the middle part of the blade to make it look more realistic so that the Glaive would match the model's size (you can see the white line - it's where the tip is glued). The Iron Halo is made of the Nemesis Warding Stave's top (from the Grey Knights box). I just removed the skull in its centre. Next one is my Commander Dante. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7052/6817735722_549ce323bd_d.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7061/6963905139_1969af3eb3_d.jpg There is nothing particular about this model. I just tried to make as similar to GW model as possible, and SG bits worked just fine, so no heavy conveting was required. I just used the Death Company jumppack. This model has 6 symbols of the Blood Angels Chapter in total (legs, torso, shoulder and jumppack) so the model screams "I am Blood Angels Chapter Master!" ;) Then there's our golden boy Tycho. The photo is of bad quality (I made a couple dozens photos of him and none was better - I believe he's just shy :P) http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7183/6963859031_ff7ab25134_d.jpg So, I used the DC backpack to represent the Iron Halo. The most time spent for this model was consumed by Dead Man's Hand. I filed down the Angelus Bolter from one of SG arms and thus I had a larger forearm to keep the design of SG arms (the sharpened part closer to the hand) and added three wires leading to the fist (cables powering the digiweapon). And now it's time for Astorath the Grim. I'm particularly proud with this model. It took much time to make it and it was good investment :D http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7177/6817737300_3e21ced6f3_d.jpg I really like how the Executioner Axe turned out. The pole is made of GK Force Halberd and the blade is made of SG axes. Here's how I did it: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7197/6963859323_4c89a6b46c_d.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7051/6817848738_e75d79d026_d.jpg And finally an unnamed Librarian with a staff, made almost entirely of GK bits. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7210/6817736178_7be63349c0_d.jpg I filed down the Inquisiotin logo on his leg, filled the text on his knees with GS. And it is almost done. Now i need to magnetize his backpack and he's done. That's all for now. It took me two weeks to make those models (not that I'm slow, I just wish I had more time), and now I can't imagen what will it take to paint them. Damned Mass Effect 3 is already released.... it sucks me in... I can't resist.... :D Anyways, thanks for reading and watching! As alwasy you C&C are most welcome! Cheers! ;)
