The Suoirebe crusade. Helsreach: DO YOU KNOW ME!

Neat :smile.:  I feel like the gray-smear weathering may not be enough for the Hawk, though.  That's a lot of blank canvas, and the technique suffers there.  By contrast, the Raven looks absolutely wicked, paintjob and converting alike

Anyway, some more in depth weathering may help things out, with chipping and scratches and whatnot.  Or, perhaps a sparing use of more white in key areas, to break up the solid tone.  A white diagonal stripe like the others on the Hawk's wings could do wonders.

Thanks for the comments and feedback, I might do more to it in the future, but for now its finished.

@Firepower, I hear you, but its a hell of a thing to paint(would say worse then those infernal bikes). In real life the balance is pretty good, I dunno if more white over do it or spoil it. And whats, this, grey smear you mention, there's no smearing going on here me lad.  There is also a slight brown tinge to it, as its part of my wash mix, but that very rarely comes through in the pics however.

Got me going back and fourth now eyeing it up. If anything maybe the lass cannon wings could be completely white, that might actually look quite good.

@Brother Cristopher. I start off with GW's chaos black spray, then picking up the details, armour segments and corners with a dark grey, then a shade up2 more time to a lighter grey. Then with a mix of chaos black and vallejo dark mud I make a wash and wash it. After I do each section I quickly take the GW dry dry brush and pull back from the edges or away from the details to create the grey worn black to the darker areas.

Forgot to say, then as a final thing before detailing I'll dry brush the extreme edges, corners etc etc.

If you like, when I do my Vindicators I'll do step by step pic thingy showing you what I mean.

I exist to undermine the painting confidence of others, that I may build them back up all the stronger!  Or just to torment them for my own amusement.  Depends on how my day is going.  :D

I think painting the whole wing white may be overkill, but another diagonal stripe could also make it look awfully... "geometric" for want of a better term.  A white panel or two could help, if you choose them wisely.  You could also just slap a few nice big white crosses around there and see how that works.

It might even be enough to simply paint the lascannon wing's central panel (the one with the Aquilla) white.  That would break up the shape from both the vertical and the horizontal, without changing the scheme in any overwhelming or dramatic sense.

Was thinking of the section you mentioned FP when I was in the midst of painting now that I recall, don't know why I didn't remember that. I'll put it down to painters block. Doing that will be quick enough not to delay the rest of my vow by any great length.

And thanks Andhil, at least someone cares :(,  have xrays  at the hospital on Wednesday on the wrist and me knees. Nothings broken, but might be fractured. However it hasn't stopped me painting, and of course its my right hand, I'm right handed...typical.

Anyways, after painting that TH, the LRR doesn't seem to taking that long at all.  I've done the black, currently on the metallic details and washes. Another 2 evenings and should be finished. :)

Thanks, that explanation is clear enough. If you'd want, you could post the picture of the last stage, the drybrushing, so I'd make sure I get what you mean. Maybe in the future I'll use your technique, as the result is amazing. Of course, if you're okay with that.

No worries, what I'll do is take a pic at each step, will be easier for me if ever asked again. I'm totally okay with that, not as if I could stop you :).  Besides its one of the reasons why we share our stuff.

Not sure whats going on with the light. Its currently perfect natural light hitting the table for me to take pics. Looked way better on the camera.

At a glance, the white background is throwing your camera's exposure program off. Try a neutral grey background, or set the camera to centre-weighted metering (if it has that option).

Nice work on the LRR. How did you do the chains and shields along the track guards? I would like to steal that idea!

Rejoice brothers as I have accomplished my vow, 1 vow,  but all the same its going to be counted. I'm glad I have finished it, as the work hasn't gone to waste.

Anyways, pics.  sorry for the first 2 pics the camera has a mind of its own and the dam flash wont go off when I want it. Settings are off or auto, nothing inbetween. ??

But hey, it makes them look more gritty, right, lol.

Group shot, with my lovely assistant holding the back drop up.

I have a terrible feeling that I've missed a model. But I'm sure its all there.

And after 3 months of no making models I get to do that again. My fingers don't actually have any cuts or superglue on them.

Its not great, but here's the steps I sue for black armour.

primed chaos black

Then black wash with a little brown in it, from the edges into the recesses and open flat areas. Sorry no pic of that as I totally forgot to take a pic as was cracking on to get them finished. Will try and get decent pics tomorrow, just wanted them up so I 100 % don't miss the deadline.

Thanks very much for the kind comments and all the likes here and on the vow thread, even with the dark pics. Was tempted to do a single HQ model for a 2nd vow, but I'll have exactly  28 minutes to do it in after I get home from work....so maybe not huh.

I got the line breaker set years back, so I have another vindicator still on sprue. Will be built and painted soon to complete the trio.

But for now, I need to build and convert some stuff. More bikes probably.
