I want all the shiny toys, but I just can't have them. What I've put together is a Pure GK list, aimed at fighting Codex Marines/Blood Angels, Dark Eldar and Tau. As these armies are typically smaller in number, either due to points or because they're mech, the sheer firepower that is produced by a basic Strike Squad is quite effective at beating down anything that does not wear at least Power Armor. Most Marines I face are still Mech, but I am more than sure that two Psy-Rifleman Dreads are enough considering the number of Psycannons in the army. All I need is one six on my 4 Psycannon rounds to get a 2/3 chance of destroying a Land Raider.

The emphasis on this list is getting as many bodies and shots onto the table as I can. A Grey Knight army really fails in close combat unless you really spec for it; where as they can pack twice the firepower of an equivalent Tau or Space Marine squad. Combined arms fire is definitely the name of the game here; focus your fire, then walk up and swarm the opponent with Force Weapon attacks.

I am torn between using a Grand Master or Libarian on the HQ. By including both I lose either an entire Squad of GKSS or two Dreads to accomodate the points. By dropping a Dread and the Psybolt ammunition the Strike Squads I can replace the Libby with a Grand Master w/ Servo Skulls, Blind Grenades and Rad Grenades.

------------------

HQ: Librarian w/ 2 Psychic Powers = 160pts

Elites: 9+1 Purifier Squad with 4 Psycannons, Nemesis Daemonhammer, 5 Halberds, Rhino = 340 points

Troops: 9+1 Grey Knight Strike Squad, 2 Psycannons, Nemesis Daemonhammer, Psybolt Ammunition, Rhino = 290 pts

Troops: 9+1 Grey Knight Strike Squad, 2 Psycannons, Nemesis Daemonhammer, Psybolt Ammunition, Rhino = 290 pts

Troops: 9+1 Grey Knight Strike Squad, 2 Psycannons, Nemesis Daemonhammer, Rhino = 270 pts

Heavy Support: "Psycannon" Dreadnought, Assault Cannon, Psybolt Ammunition, Nemesis Doomfist = 130pts

Heavy Support: "Psy-Ri" Dreadnought, Dual Twin-Linked Autocannon = 135pts

Heavy Support: "Psy-Ri" Dreadnought, Dual Twin-Linked Autocannon = 135pts

TOTAL: 1750pts

No, I do not have my Nemesis Daemonhammers Master-Crafted. For opponents that I am fighting against, I am not concerned about landing too many thunderhammer strikes. This is the same reason I do not take powerfists in my Codex Marine tactical squads. It just so happens that the GKs get their Thunderhammers very cheap, making them more than worth it - the fact that every GK not wielding a Psycannon has a Force weapon makes up for the fact that I do not reroll my Thunderhammer hits. Dark Eldar and Tau are fragile and die far too easily to my hail of gunfire - the Psycannons and Psy-Ris provide more than sufficient anti-tank, and all I require is one wound to really take down a Crisis Suit or random Melee Dreadnought.

In my search for cost-effective units, I shaved five points off of a Psy-Ri Dread and turned it into a Rhino Escort; not only will the "Psycannon" assist in fending off would be assailants, the standard Nemesis Doomfist will do good to help me tarpit some Troops or Crisis Suits.

If I was intent on focusing my army to fight Marines/Chaos or place more emphasis on anti-mech, I would certainly be dropping some Psybolt Ammunition on the GKSS to mastercraft the NDHs.

Overall, your list looks quite solid. It's points are evenly distributed between all the different units which you seem to have a lot of. I personally like the idea of the Psy-spam, I think that people are going to find that this is a very nasty build. And while at first, I thought you might have trouble w/ hordes, I realize that a combination of your purifiers, Librarian and concentrated firepower, you should be fine. Honestly, I think that GKs would do very well against all of those armies in CC with the possible exception of DE (your purifiers would be fine though). Like you said, they have low model count and are vulnerable to force weapons but it is preferable to play to whatever the strength of your army build and what you feel comfortable. I would also stick w/ the Librarian, you already have 3 scoring units w/ transports and you are probably going to be playing half-static w/ the other half maneuvering, so the main benefits of a GKGM's Grand Strategy aren't as important to you. Besides, where you would you put him?

My only suggestions are to think about if you are planning to keep your GKSS in the rhinos w/ a shoot and scoot tactics or if you plan on disembarking them and using the Rhino as mobile cover. If it is the former, dropping the Psybolt ammo could be an option and free up some points. I would at least recommend this for the purifiers who are shooting Psycannons mostly anyway and probably your first choice for CC. Also, I think that the 3rd Dread might be a little redundant and unable to keep up w/ the main body so it could be better invested in a Vindicare. It would give you reliable anti-armour (seriously, it's like 80-90% pen against AV14) and the ability to snipe out those pesky Sanguinary Priests and Ethereals (oh.....that could be soooo good....) and Haemonculus.

I appreciate the feedback. The Purifiers are not packing Psybolt Ammunition anyway, as like you stated, it's not really necessary.

I am definitely willing to splash for a Vindicare - though I do play GK-only, it is just too badass to pass up. It is only one shot per turn, but that one shot can change the momentum of a match. I had originally planned to use the third Dread as a Psy-Rifleman; I opted to squeeze in a bit more close range firepower, but the list is certainly flexible enough to switch out as needed.

At the moment, the Strike Squads are acting as firebases and not really abusing Combat Squads. Until I get a few more games in, I've kept the Psybolt Ammunition on two of the Strike Squads, the one Squad without them is definitely going to be scooting across the battlefield, jumping out and pumping shots into stuff.

Nice list I like the lots of bodies feel this list has.

Where is your libby going to go? Remember he has Termy Armour so can't ride in a Rhino

Libby will likely sit with a footslogging Strike Squad or maybe the Psycannon Purifiers if they get Combat Squad-ed down. He may also opt to Deep Strike into play, preferably behind the firebase. This is the issue I'm having; not having access to Power Armored HQ choices is quite annoying.

This is 1750 on the mark too, not sure if I like the GKGM just running behind, but I guess you could Deep Strike him? and use Skulls to lessen the scatter?

HQ:
Grand Master +3 Servo Skulls +Rad Grenades +Psychostroke Grenades = 215

Elites: 9+1 Purifier Squad with 2 Psycannons, Nemesis Daemonhammer, 5 Halberds, Rhino = 320 points?

Troops: 9+1 Grey Knight Strike Squad, 2 Psycannons, Nemesis Daemonhammer, Rhino = 270 pts

Troops: 9+1 Grey Knight Strike Squad, 2 Psycannons, Nemesis Daemonhammer, Rhino = 270 pts

Troops: 9+1 Grey Knight Strike Squad, 2 Psycannons, Nemesis Daemonhammer, Rhino = 270 pts

Heavy Support: "Psy-Ri" Dreadnought, Dual Twin-Linked Autocannon = 135pts

Purifiers is 315 there unless you MC the DH.
Grand Master looks good as well. Where's he going? Everyone's in Rhinos.

I think the GM could go with a squad that has been Combat Squadded down and Deep Strike onto the field.
